wasn't there an old ns2000? IIRC it sold for about 299. bloody nice instrument though!

i used to play death metal with a passive bc rich warlock. the sound was amazing through an old valve amp and two 15" cabs. recording wise, i used my old WEM dominator II combo breaking up nicely. there is no right or wrong instrument to use for any genre of music although i wouldn't turn up to a country or rockabilly show with one of my pointy deans!

Small powered wedge monitor
dudewheresmybass replied to JohnnyLightyear's topic in Accessories and Misc
this might be worth a try - i use one as a monitor when i'm gigging and a practice amp when i'm at home. mounts on a mike stand or will sit on a flight case http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_box_ma205_aktivmonitor.htm -
recently, i had the opportunity to ab the mb head and the VBA head at the marshall factory. whilst there was a noticeable difference between the two, i was able to coax some tasty tones from the MB, even getting close to those emanating from the VBA. it has to be said that the VBA is streets ahead in all areas but i found the MB to be extremely capable at the price point. the 410 i used at the factory was obviously a demo cab but i found no issues. I have no experiece of the 115 though. hope this helps

since you tried to fix it, there is a chance that you voided the warranty. try contacting Marshall and see what they suggest.

i have a rob trujillo pick from when he played with Ozzy. a Rex Thunderbolt pick, a Zakk Wylde (proper one not the ones they give away in strings/ pickups), A Gary Moore one that he used to play parisienne walkways, and fakey give away mick thomson(slipknot) and kerry king ones i think that's it! I'm currently in the throes of moving house but i'll post a pic (K!) when i find the camera!

i've not had this problem. it could be just the unusual one from the manufacturer that wasn't quite right. i would be seriously tempted to try another one. After all, it is a great sounding pedal

London International Music Show
dudewheresmybass replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
considering this show is supposed to replace the old MIA trade fair (BMF), i feel that the organizers are selling the whole industry short. the BMF was always informative and there were always new products available for demo. The organisers seem to be keen to create a show that everyone could attend, but have in essence alienated more manufacturers / distributors and suppliers. many of my friends within the industry are reporting that their profits are up and sales are buoyant, yet feel that the prices being charged for floor space are becoming prohibitive. The trade needs somewhere where they can look for new stock lines to add, which means that ATM you'll have to head to frankfurt, whereas the focus at LIMS seems to have moved to the end consumer, rather than the aforementioned shops / retailers. I'm hoping that next year the organisers of the show will return to more of a trade-show-with-added-public-access approach, and be somewhat more competitive pricing structure for exhibitors. Here's hoping!!! -

well, i managed to blag a freebie, and went today notable brands on display were markbass, but alas only the DI box and booster pedal on display, some pleasant looking warwicks on display (particularly a very nice vampyre NT in red - only about £5,250!), the new fender/ boss pedal from roland, and the pitchfactor from eventide that really stick in my mind. unfortunately, no fender, Dean, rosetti, spector, Ashdown, GB guitars / ebs, gibson (except in the trade area - such that it was). oh, and far too many people on a bass that think it's cool to make all kinds of wackety-clackety-nails-in-a-drum-type sounds. to be honest, i wouldn't of paid to go. quite disappointing really. -
1: Yes i have endorsements with bass, string and Amp manufacturers 2: approx. 50% discount, and free promo material. and we're expected to promote these companies wherever poss. - live performance primarily, but also within my teaching business. 3: repairs that are poss in house are dealt with FOC, and a replacement instrument loaned in the meantime, anything that has to be outsourced is at cost. 4: not as such. 5: i get to use gear i believe in and love, and i can do it for less! we have gained exposure through our associations though. as far as my bass deal goes, i have been using dean for many years, but only formalised the deal at the tail end of last year

these are cracking basses. They're kind of a little bit traditional, but also a bit pointy too! there is huge amounts of eq adjustment available from the onboard electronics, to tweak an already awesome ( and heavy!) bass. that mahogany really does weigh in pretty heavy! i love mine to pieces - always out gigging with me. if i had the readies, i'd spring for another one, but alas.......
-
used it last night at our show. what a difference it makes to my razorback -WOW! i even had someone try to buy the bass off me. wasn't so great with my demonator, but with my machine / pyro bass, it sounded pretty sweet. all in all £35 well spent i feel!

i ordered this little beauty on tuesday out of sheer curiosity really. all in it cost around £35 delivered, and all i can say is that it sounds awesome! it does exactly what it says on the tin - bass boost. apparently it's a derivative of the LPB1 booster affecting only the low end. i tried it in a straight to DI situation this evening, and it turned a meh sounding peavey international into a 'thumping you in the chest monster' I shall be using it in my band's next show on sunday evening, and also through the 32k rig at my church gig on sunday morning. Time will tell!

neither are dean / bill lewington. apparently there are quite a few companies boycoting the event over their charges, and the whole retail thing. if i can blag myself a freebie, then i'll be going, otherwise i'm not going to pay £14 for the day -
interesting thoughts. there seems to be a culture of putting down all kinds of gear dependant on whether it is 'flavour of the month' or not. it does beg the question of how many people have actually tried the gear being commented on rather than blindly repeating someone else's opinion read elsewhere. i admit it - i really like most high end marshall bass gear. DBS, VBA etc however i don't find much in the MB series that i like. Shame really - the concept sounds great!

i heartily recommend the Nady encore 200 Bass system. it's a belt pack type system, but sounds absolutely massive. all the other systems i've used - Sennheiser Freeport and ew100, Audio Technica, Akg have all lost some oomph in the bottom end. Not so with the Nady. it sounds fantastic! retails around the £100 mark. well worth checking out!
