i use an old toothbrush getly across the neck ,and then use dunlop 65 (?) lemon oil on RW boards, but just the toothbrush and a gentle wipe with MN.

i use and have been using the book Bass Guitar by Gregroy and Vinson (IIRC) to teach for the past twelve years. the way this book is written and set out makes it easy to help someone find their way through the potential maze of techniques and 'great songs' all of my pupils, past and present have learnt huge things from this book, and it is a great starting point to start peoples creative juices going whilst learning basic techniques. I'm not suggesting that you go through this (or any other) book verbatim, but it has exercises that progress logically, and will open discussions into further things. the essential thing is that if you are going to use a book as a springboard, it must suit YOUR teaching style, and the skill of teaching is how you teach you student to apply the lesson / technique / song to their style, and how well it sticks in their playing over time ( subject to practice of course!) In doing this each lesson becomes relevant to each student, and as you get to know your student better, you will be able to suggest ideas / styles / players that they have never heard of before, which will encourage them on their own musical journey.

aussie - i love it to pieces. the clean blended switch is the key here - the clean sounds level is fixed at around unity, and you add the fuzz over the top to taste using the volume control. A genius idea! the real joy of this pedal is that there is absolutely no bass loss. the manual describes the origin of the pedal as "the battle green russian muff optimised for bass guitar""(IIRC) the only problem i have found with it is that it isn't particularly keen on active instruments - shame really as i would dearly love to use it with my Razorback, but i think i need to spend some more time tweaking! TBH for the price (about the £50 mark online) it's an absolute bargain. hope this helps.

in which case, i would place the MXR wherever you think it sounds best. if you were going to need it to DI, then the end of the chain is the logical place.

my other bass board. playing mainly hard rock / early nwobhm style metal type material ok, board might be stretching it a little, and the HM2 is a jap one on loan from my guitarist. i currently have two MIT ones, and am trying to A/B them.

any thing from the sennheiser EW range should do the trick. great mikes, and they'll record well

I've been using peavey double bags for both Bass and guitar for at least 8 or so years now. the only problem i ever had with them was that the strap clasp thing was made of plastic and snapped. However a visit to my local emporium quickly sorted that out. They are still in their catalogue (at least according to the one i got from LMS!), however peavey's policy is to not put prices in their accesories catalogue!

he's definitelt been using the Tobys for years. when the bass centre was in wapping, i was fortunate enough to play one of his older ones - a beautiful green four string!, and it was absolutely wonderful. it had an excellent set up as i recall, and sounded marvellous. if only...........

i use the boss fv500H with a stereo lead to connect to the syb. should do the trick.

i used to use mine with an expression pedal. it totally transforms this pedal IMO. i could coax all sorts of cool sounds from this thing. I found the best modes to use w/ exp were 10 and 11 IIRC. add an octave, and i pretty much nailed the sound from deeper underground too a highly underrated pedal again IMO

might want to make that a bass big muff! also +the one on the lomenzo - extremely versatile. you'll find as mentioned above that between the lot of us we must have got through hundreds of different brands / models, and each of us has our own preference. Pedals i've loved a while ago sound odd now, yet in six months I will probably dig them out and love them again!! Equally pedals i've hated will sound awesome in six ish months time too! ears are strange things!

i have the nady, and it's great! never had any problems with it, and it sounds as good as a cable. the main problem i've had in the past with the other wirelesses on the market is either bass loss or what seems like an over compressed sound. the nady has a control on the rear enabling you to restore bottom end and even boost it making it my default choice over other more expensive systems - I've used systems from Sennheiser (not freeport!), Audio technica, and AKG (although the audio technica comes a close second!) hope this helps!

i think you must have tried a dud. there is absolutely no low end lost on mine, no matter whether it's a straight to DI job with a 40K PA system, or just into my big Fender / Marshall rig, or even my little practice amp. Seriously it must have been a dud!

i'll be heading up there on monday, and then, if there is time off somewhere to try and find a bass big muff!

if they are the same as the ones on the p bass lyte, i managed to get a couple from Arbiter before they lost their distribution deal. perhaps a phone call to their customer support may be in order?
