Well here is my 2ds worth, I feel the same as you that having just one bass mite be the way forward. Somthing that becomes one with you and that you know beter than your best friend. I have bought and sold a fair few basses over the last few years some coz i liked the look some i liked the feel and some the sound. I recently bought a short scale squire coz it was pretty, mainly to just hang on the wall. Having bought it i couldent put it on the wall without trying it out so i pluged it in n you know what I loved it even though the sound was a little cheap n the eq a waste of time but what i discovered was Short scales. I quickly decided i wanted a quality shorty n started looking anyway to cut a long story down, I soon came across Landing basses.I now have an L1 hand made and there aint another just the same anywhere. anyway what im trying to say is keep an open mind, you have some cool basses but mabe what your looking for is somthing a little different. Try a few of the shops that spicalise in custom basses (my fav is BassDirect in warwick) check out what they carry they have a great website and the owner is a great guy. He was the one that planted the idea in my head about just one, and he was rite on the money. Anyway good luck with your quest PS I have GAS for another Landing now i have one

had a go on a micromark at absolute music a couple a years ago, was very impresed with the sound, very clean n suprisingly loud but how much, naa thats just being silly !!!!!!!. Had the studio 110 too, was my first proper bass amp, chose it over the cube 30,. It was good n loud and not a bad sound (should akept it) since then ive had a peavey and a trace (both 1 x 15 combos) but the fender bronco beats em all for playing at home IMHO

Hi. Have you looked at the new Fender Bronco40 bass amp yet? I just got one n its awsome (IMHO) 40w 10 inch speaker 24 presets 8 amp models loads of FX and all fully configerable via the fuse softwear thats free from fender (how many amps you seen with a USB conector) It sounds fantastic . I went to Nevada music in portsmouth to try out the Rolland amps n came across this, for 10 quid more than the Rolland 20XL twice the power, bigger driver, loads more flexability and in my opinion it felt, looked and most importantly sounded much better. After an hour or so playing with the rolland and the fender in the shop i parted with £191 and took the Bronco home. Got home about 2pm unpacked pluged in n played with the nobs n switches and my collection of basses. They all sounded great even befor i fiddled. Befor i new it was 2am, seriously!!!! (cant say that about my Trace Elliot 715) Anyway id recomend you check it out on youtube or at a local store befor you makeup your mind. Any one out there fancy a realy nice Trace Elliot 715 (its the new type with the back lit face panel and its loud, its very very loud)

I looked at one of the new jag basses at Nevadas this week, in black, not quite the original having passive electronics and P/J pick ups. Nice neck but not quite the same as my 94/5 MIJ jag . im saving for an ESH stinger so anyone looking for a jag give me a shout, its mint condition in antique white/tortose n loads a chrome

I have just got the Fender Bronco40, went to Nevada n tryed it against the roland amps. Liked both of them but the fender won out on sound first, features second and hands down on price. Its pleanty loud for home practice sounds fantastic with all my basses n the Fuse softwear is awsome. In my opinion it beats my Line6 softwear hands down, if you aint looked at this amp n what it can do yet your missing a trick or three. My main amp is a Trace 715 and to be honest the fender has religated the beast to the cupboard under the stairs.

I spoke to ashdown today to get the scoop on what’s happening. and yes the amps will be built on the same components and PCBs as the Chinese models, cost will be higher due to local sourcing of the components and increased labour costs in the uk , don’t think Dave is guna do a hundred amps himself though lol . There hopping to roll out the first of these amps in about 2 to 3 week’s time. There will be a surcharge of about £100 per amp (not yet finalised) and as of my chat with them at lunch time today there was still availability. They are also considering producing some 1x12 cabs (was told the voicing of the amp works well with 12s) I was also told that they would be more than happy to produce 1x12 cabs as one offs for anyone who would like one (price dependent on your choice of speaker)

update to last post In the time its taken me to put the last post up ive recived another mail from ashdown Hey Steve, The cab's will be UK made and the RRP will be £449. They should be available the same time as the head which will be Aprilish fingers crossed. Hope this helps and any other queries just ask. All the best, Lee Gota say im impressed with the speed that ashdown have replyed to my mails and i am saving for the cab as of now
-
Ive asked ashdown for more info too, couldnt workout how to add a photo so put a pic of the cab up as my profile pic. Seems to me that most bass cabs are very high on the output watage and therefor more expensive, it would seem that in the world of bass big is the fastion , grate if you want to play a large room . There seems to be very little in the way of good quality home oriantated hardwear . persanly i like the look and size of the orange isobaric cabs but again there designed to be mated up with high output bass amps and aint cheap nearly £600 for the 2x12 . I have to admit that i will probably get the ashdown cab to match the head but im guna gess i wont like the price lol As most speakers are rated for sound performance with an input signal of 1w at a distance of 1 meter im gessing the max input power rating of the speaker dosnt reflect a greater minimum input . An example of this in pracice would be my m8s rig a 4x12 marshall he bought a 1/4 w blackheart killer ant head and that drives the speakers no prob and sounds great , i would expect prity much the same would be true on a bass cab with a low output amp in a home enviroment.
