There's also a poor quality 1987 Catalogue Scan here. As Jon rightly states, 1987 marks the end of the Matsumoku plant - although precisely when it actually closed seems to be rather elusive (it was ownedby Singer & they were having financial difficulties.) Exactly what got made where in this transitional year is open to debate. I used to own a Korean-built Magna Series 5 string & it shared several design features with your XRB - notably the "conventional" pickups, "bent tin" bridge & the small dot markers. I don't see any string trees, does your headstock have a backwards slant as well? Also, is the neck painted or clear coated? The nearest thing to the XRB in the 1986 Catalogue are the RSB/Straycat models which have a very different flavour - pointy horns, soapbar pickups, die cast bridges, larger dot markers etc. - all of which shout Matsumoku. My money's on yours being a 1987 Korean-built example. Pete
thanks pete some really good info there well its certainly lacking the "made in japan" stamp on the scratchplate,no string trees, the neck does slant back, and the neck is painted in the same finish as the body....by the sounds of it Kim Jong-il may have played a part in its construction

6.
thanks for that ... Re: the sanding any particular grade of sandpaper??
probably get the worst off with a 100 grade paper....the. a little higher to smooth things off....even some wire wool before you prime just to smooth things up......must admit i like the idea of the chroming though!
7. Fro sale my Korg ax10b....all in nice practically new condition, comes with the manual but no adapter (any 9v dc adapter should do it) and obv works on batterys. Grab yourself a bargain....worthit just for the chorus and flanger plus you get the tuner and all the other stuff free! £40 + p+p
8. most automotive sprays out of a can will be durable enough to take more than a few stomps, just make sure you use an appropriate primer like an etching primer so the that the top coat bonds.....the original finishes are powder coated and ideally you want to get rid of that old finish...bit of good old sanding i reckon as a stripper might not touch it
9. or possibly a trade for a peavey tour 450/700 with a little cash?
10. For sale my Yamah BBT 500H 500 watt bass head, a really nice compact head packed with features. i have owned this head for about 3 years now, it has spent its life rack mounted,i have supplied a few pics...one in the rack, and front and back, this sale is for the amp only. ....my reason for sale?.....i dont use anywhere near the capabilities of this head so have decided to opt for something a little more simplistic......heres the jargon.... The Yamaha BBT 500H bass amp delivers five hundred punchy class-D watts into two Yamaha cabs, yet it weighs only ten and a half anti-gravity pounds. Select from eleven of your favorite bass amp sounds, dial up the programmable parametric EQ and compressor, and store your favorite combinations to five front panel presets. Add to that a noise gate, parallel effects loop, Speaker simulator, MIDI capability, variable crossover, headphone and tuner outs, and more, and you've got one heavy package – figuratively speaking.
