  1. It sounded not as good as with the org. neck but looked ok 🙂
  2. And maple necks with inlays. And no black headstocks.
  3. Because I love my 1000ma most I put new strings on it to play it again. Totally different instrument again 😄
  4. Sick at home... used the time to compare my BBs . All basses played over the 25watts Hartke combo and with the same preamp sound. A little unfair...only the 414 and 614 have fresh strings..the difference is obvious.. 1000MA and 3000MA have old(!) strings. Both pickups, eq 100% . BB614 no boost, everything below zero-position. Fingerstyle. Mobile in front of combo on the floor. Sick virus timing 😛 Headphones recommended !!
  5. I like the light stuff of that bass but never was into the design 😞
  6. A Samsung S9, nothing fancy
  7. This is some seconds of the 614. Played through a 25 watts Hartke combo, mobile phone recording lying on the floor in front of the amp, fingerstyle. BB614 use headphone
  8. The BB passive sound is just perfect for me! For my ears, there is a difference between an eq section in the bass and on my amp. Can't say why . Maybe it is because a changed setting on the amp has to match the other settings on it. And it is way easier to change things directly on the bass while playing instead of changing settings while standing 2 cm away from the speakers. My active bass has active EMG humbuckers and only a treble blend like a passive bass. It sounds kind of dead when played solo without band. But with band it just moves some serious air....
  9. Well I love the passive tone of the BBs! But within the band the active basses cut through better - for my ears.
  10. I only use maybe two very similar sittings of the possible ones but once I got "my tone" it sounded cool for me at the rehearsal yesterday.
  11. I have to say I, I like the active circuit. New experience and I declare it usefull 😛
  12. The bolt on BBs
  13. You know what I mean 😉
  14. Jam session today ...only a small combo but it rocked
  15. So now it's ready. Gold speed domes fitted. Put 40-95 strings on it. Great tone I can tell!
  16. That's because I am even older than that bass and a fan of the org. BB - no Attitude comes close to Billy's pink BB 😉 And I know not many will share this opinion !
  17. Not my gusto. There are enough Fenders around, why should I want the bass to look like one? But one may think different!
  18. What shape is it? Old or new...? Mh.....
  19. I wish they would sell basses with maple fretboards without the black headstock !! Or at least matching ones. AND with the Yamaha inlays.....!!! PLEASE Yamaha !!!
  20. Area !! 🙂 Long time no see ! Ingo
  21. Another find in an old drawer.. bought it back then because in my eyes this is clearly a Yamaha BB keychain ?!! OK, it's a lefty... 😄
  22. What I love about this BBs is (besides more important sonic reasons) the outstanding building quality including of course the optics / the finish of even the cheaper models. This bass (and every 414 I played) sounds so good. Infact, I like the 414 better than the 424s. The slightly more massive new bridge is a nice tonal upgrade. The tuners are a bit heavier than the smaller Yamaha tuners but it's really no big deal. I just love that open, bell ringing tone of BBs. Combined with the growl of the "normal" P it delievers even a little more bottom end than the BB1000MA.
  23. Need two new knobs and a new toggle switch. Wanted to change the tuners by the weekend but couldn't wait 😄 Voila the BB414 with new hardware. While searching for knobs I found the electronics of my BB3000 (passive). I sold that bass equipped with a Glockenklang active circuit. It was one of the 2000 something (year) limited edition basses. So that will go into the 414 also. Yes I like it.
  24. Parts are ready!
  25. Too bad, I don't have the money !! But I do have a BB3000MA and a BB1000MA. So I might come over it. But the 2024MA looks killer !!!!
