I put some stuff in and on to make it more a bass 😎

Well guess what my next 1000ma project will be ? 😄
-
As the lacquer guy writes...red is always difficult to picture on a picture..😂 Important info...the work is not done completely on this pic.
-
I still have a BB body that could be a 350's.... anybody interested?
-
The Lave Red is indeed one of the coolest but hottest colours ever !
-
Got first pics of the new cad finish .... can't wait. The last gloss ist missing yet... It will even get the original Yamaha logo again.
-
Shortscale...not for me...!! 192m high and ..well not the most skinny guy on bass... short scale will look like a violin 😂

5 string Waran 5: When the going gets rough..

The Euro 5s are really cool basses ! I was thinking about buying one but I don't use 5 strings and if..I still have a quiet cool LeFay Waran 5

The green is a rare colour on 1000ma's most of them were made in black. A 3000ma in green ( it is a different green on the 3000ma) ...would be on my wall forever! Black BB1000ma's are on the market over here from time to time!

A Spector is indeed a totally different kind of beast ! That's another sound universe.... Yamaha BB...passive, oldschool...Spector...90s high end / hifi sound. I love the Specor 5 string basses. Owned a few back then but I try to avoid 5 string basses whenever I can 🙂 There was a Rex 5 that I will never stop missing. That bass had the best B string I ever heard.

I think it depends on the location... I noticed different values of this rather unknown model of the BB range in the UK and Europe.Japan even more. In Europe (esp Germany for what I can speak in this issue) a very good price would be 300-350 Euros. 400,- -450 Euros would be the usual price without case. Im not interested in cases ('cause over the years...) but very often sellers sell with a case to rise the price a few bucks. Espacially this models are usually not owned by pros or real band players as the instruments often come in a mint condition. I wonder why ... I am playing the 1000ma since it came out and it stood the test of time. It overlived even two 3000ma's because in the end the bolt on neck sounds better to my ears. I highly recommend this model. On the other hand...now that I found a good lacquer guy....don't buy them! I'll take them all! 🙂 (sorry for my English if it sounds weird, I am not a native speaker) Edit: Concerning the pickups... for me it was perfect from the start and now I can't switch back to normal! I had beautiful other BB's but the normal pickup configuration did not sound right for me every time I played them... I just love the neck pickup not to be as boomy as the regular ones. In my eyes (or ears) this is kind of an advantage in the studio or live even more. And concerning studio work... I truely can tell that no other bass has ever gotten the job when the BB1000ma was in the collection of possible basses to record with. Something to rely on ! Maybe it is not a real alrounder. Of course you can play anything you want on it but I think, it's a perfect rock bass. I guess it was planed as a rocker for a bass player of a band like Van Halen 🙂 All the follow up's of Michael Anthony are "the same bass" from a different brand.

Due to Brexit second hand deals with the UK became..... 💥

I will get my candy apple red BB1000ma in two weeks. Meanwhile I just pulled the trigger on another BB1000ma in misty green. My plan is also a new green metallic finish on my other black 1000ma.... the red dots make a good contrast... (picture of seller, did not revieve the bass yet)

So cool....I'm just back from the lacquer guy.... took a look at some examples of his work... I like his work. Price is very fair.... 2 hours driving was worth it. Now the wait begins... 🙂

I finally found a guy that does great lacquer jobs for a reasonable price and I will bring him a first bass, a 1000MA for a new finish tomorrow. If I like the result, I may buy quiet a number of other Yamaha's to get them turned in my own signature basses.

My aging back ist exactly what brought GR to my attention. But I might go for cabs of more traditional construction - I was thinking on a 410 but it is way to expensive to crack at a gig in the van.
-
My concerns are...will the cabs stand knocks like a wooden cab..? Or will they crack ? And again ..2x8" or 2x10"... are these cabs only interesting for acoustic or Jazz gigs?
-
Did somebody try a GR cab with an "oldschool" analod head? I like the idea of lightweight but concerning bass heads nothing compares to analog for me. So the best light cabs fired with a lightweigtht head will always sound strange for me. And I think bass head with 10kg more than a class d amp...that's a thing I can handle. Did anybody use GR cabs in a more rock style context? All this yt vids of guys fiddling arround in a living room loudness... you can't tell anything from that vids... So ...real experience? 😄 I love the idea of GR...Can it be real?

I built in a Glockenklang into my BB3000 some years ago. It did not what I hoped it could, but it can't do anything the bass won't from it self... sold it. Wished I still had it with the original circuit 😉
-
Still have this BB body...I think, someone did the Jazz-pickup drilling plus an extra hole for an extra knob. Found some pick ups and a bridge, tuners ... all I need is a neck... I am thinking of gold hardware (of course) and vintage white Demarzio pick ups ( on the pic I put some pu-covers in creame on top of the pu)..... What do you think??? Also found a complete BB3000 electronic that could be built in.... (I love my boxes full of spare parts collected over the years..) 🙂

BB1000MA's: 3,95kg, BB300: 4,6 kg.....

BB425X.... BB425X in Germany

It is outstanding but after the first shock I would love it in a different see-through finish if I could chose... 🙂 Too bad the owner did not take a total pic of the bass
