My concerns are...will the cabs stand knocks like a wooden cab..? Or will they crack ? And again ..2x8" or 2x10"... are these cabs only interesting for acoustic or Jazz gigs?

Did somebody try a GR cab with an "oldschool" analod head? I like the idea of lightweight but concerning bass heads nothing compares to analog for me. So the best light cabs fired with a lightweigtht head will always sound strange for me. And I think bass head with 10kg more than a class d amp...that's a thing I can handle. Did anybody use GR cabs in a more rock style context? All this yt vids of guys fiddling arround in a living room loudness... you can't tell anything from that vids... So ...real experience? 😄 I love the idea of GR...Can it be real?

I built in a Glockenklang into my BB3000 some years ago. It did not what I hoped it could, but it can't do anything the bass won't from it self... sold it. Wished I still had it with the original circuit 😉

Still have this BB body...I think, someone did the Jazz-pickup drilling plus an extra hole for an extra knob. Found some pick ups and a bridge, tuners ... all I need is a neck... I am thinking of gold hardware (of course) and vintage white Demarzio pick ups ( on the pic I put some pu-covers in creame on top of the pu)..... What do you think??? Also found a complete BB3000 electronic that could be built in.... (I love my boxes full of spare parts collected over the years..) 🙂

I fell over this bass in ebay...but with taxes and customs... it will never be that price again if one would like to sell it again... But it looks soooooooooooo good !!!

I asked the owner where he got that bass from but he got it some years ago used "from an old Italian man who stopped playing".. I would love to know who was able to get a 1000ma like this from Yamaha !

That's a good point. With a Wal you know you invest in something stable concerning it's "worth". (the the personel one)

That's way too much, even for the customshop. It's "just" a model out from a series, no one of a kind bass. But as long as they can find customers for it...why change?

Concerning your last sentence I can asure you that this is not the case. Still more 4 than 5 strings are sold 🙂

By the way, the bes two 5 string basses I owned were a LeFay Pangton 5 and a Spector Rex5. The Spector I miss a lot !! This was just deeeeeeeep !!! This is a recording from '99 or 2000 with the Spector Rex5. Spector Rex 5

Al, you are right for a bass player that likes low b string tones. If only the bass goes low... I am your opinion. If guitars or keyboards paticipate down there... I will solve it with a powerchord that will be heared better 🙂 But there's nothing wrong with a cool 5 string!!!!

I went 5string and back. It makes sense when you REALLY need that extra string. 25 yeras back it was cool to have one. If you needed it or not 😛 But after returning to rock 'n roll... I don't miss a low B. Had bands for this (played a lot of Gothik rock!) but I always hated it because du to drop down guitar tunigs and even 7 string axes... I lost interesst in ultra low. When I play a 5 string - and I do have a fantastic LeFay Waran 5 , I want to feature the low B string.. this distracts me from playing "free" because I want that B string... 😛 Silly me! 😄

I choose white for my own bass creation but did find gold "too much" back then for it. It recieved black hardware. I love that thing live because it lights up even when you are not in the center of the stage.. That's why I got disenchanted with black basses. That's also the reason why I do a lot of stuff on top of my 1000's... black is not visible on most band live pics .. 😉

That depends on the colour of the bass Al ! But what do you have? Edit: Played a Spector Euro 5 in the Musicstore Cologne last year and I can understand any enthusiasm for this basses. They sound like a dream. Typical American EMG noble bass sound!

The cool think is that it sound like a warm Alembic tone 😍

I think it's only fitted with alternative pus (humbuckers) looks like a typical BB shape for me. New pickusp and a Musicman electronics control plate . Better so be seen here.. Louis Johnson bass live

We don't have Photoshop at home and the result is not as good as Luke's visions but... This is more or less what my 1000 shall look like. Hardware will be gold then. Doing this in the pic absolutely exeeds my skills 😛

Will talk to a guy about refinishing one of my 1000ma's in candy apple red today.... I think I like that 😄
