1. Yeah, I know what you mean. I prefer the feel of a 4 but the range of a 5 is just better imho. I've got two 5 strings after having four passives 4's, I do miss them tbh but really don't like having to think more than I have to, hence the low D on the B and not a drop D tuner etc etc.
2.
Guys lol there is some excessive cab scrutinisation occurring. I'm the same when I get something new. Can't help it. Just enjoy the bargain of the decade. :-)
Lol, yeah I'm super critical of anything I buy new. If it's second hand I'm not nearly as bothered, new though and it's a different story . On another point just read about 2 pole and 4 pole speakon connectors, any preference between the two types? On the 'Made in Mexico' thing I only noticed a sticker saying it on the crossover panel. I've also a Shuttle 6.0 12 T combo that hasn't got one on, not that it matters really. I just presumed that for the original RRP it would be made in the US of A
3. Yup, all factory sealed but I did notice the box had extra sets of staple holes (with no staples in them!) in the top of it. So either it's been taken out at some point after packaging then repackaged for some reason or a return repackaged in it's original box. I guess the scuffs could be from moving it about in the factory, who knows? Even if I did send it back I wouldn't get another one as they're kinda out of stock now! I guess I'll never know, a bit odd though
4. Got it, now need a lead. I get what was mentioned above Re quality. The screws for the handles protrude through the inside of the ply and the foam inside the cab (acoustic stuff I guess) is a bit rough. However saying that I'm sure it'll sound great and hopefully worth the spends! mmm, also after looking at it with a beady eye the 2 of the corner protectors have a few slight scuffs etc on them. Hope it wasn't a repackaged return lol!! Also didn't realise they were made in Mexico, not that that matters anyhow I guess
5. Mines be delivered, but to my neighbour who is out ! Even when I do get it I'll need a speakon
6. Cheers for that, didn't see it first time!
7. just a question, was there any every deal sorted for the covers for these many cabs that have been ordered?
8. email as well today, see how it sounds this Friday I hope as I actually have a rehearsal , however need to get a speakon cable!!
9. One of the other differences is if you go for a 5 string version the SSI has a broadneck with wider spacing whilst the SSII is has normal spacing , I personally prefer the broadneck versions anyhow!
10. Lovely stuff there , I'm starting to think you really can't beat the bow for timbre !
11. Man, that is very impressive Rainer, have a bump on me
12. Hey folks, I've messaged the seller so we'll see. I think I need a bass for my first lesson as I'll be being taught from my home, be a bit odd if I don't have one tbh. I'll have some funds to maybe get a newer one but I would prefer used, kinda like my things warn in a bit , Anyhow cheers for the comments, keep em coming please!
13. Nice one, I've heard you're never too old to learn !!
14. + 1 on a cover discount if group purchase
15. Hi all, Looked at one last night but a: don't know what to look for tbh and b: waiting for funds etc. I've been pricing up a new one as opposed to waiting until never never to get a good used one. Thomann do some interesting ones but I would really rather buy used, much better value. Anyhow I'll keep looking as I really want to start using a bow!! Peace.
16. Got an email saying in at the end of next week, well I'm not hoping too much but you never know!
17. Well I have also put an order in now, I guess we'll see what happens
18. Not surprised this has gone so quickly, a real piece of wick history there !
19. Well I sold 4 passive 4 string fenders a while back so I could concentrate on playing my two 5 strings wicks. Thing is I've been starting to hanker after another couple of 4 string fenders again! Playing live I much prefer the 5 strings but for things like reading etc I'm more at home on a 4. Didn't help that I went to a nice vintage guitar shop yesterday and was offered to have a go on some of their basses, after I played a 79 P, a 66 P (in fiesta red with tort guard!!), a 74 P (and a Jim Reed jazzer!!!) I think the bug might have bitten again. I do find it bizarre how after I found my more than good enough 5 strings I've got gas for an old fender 4 again.
20. Lol, I just tried the above thing and it's true, not much of a gap with the ring fingers!!
21. Yup, the builder has a great setup and obviously knows what he's doing down to a T, I'm sure you'll have a fab bass
22. You could try and get some sheet music for it, then you can follow it along much easier (IMO) than tab. You'll also get to learn a bit of theory in the process
23. mmm, yeah a bit good isn't she !
24.
That clip got me watching Youtube for a bit and I came across this wonderful bit of Norman Watt Roy soloing at 1:30 and no slapping in sight
yeah, a bass solo I actually liked
