1. Hey, Geoff is a about 40 minutes from me so I will probably consider getting some jazz lessons at some point. There is also a classical teacher even closer (err, about 2 miles!) to me called Jennifer Nicks. As I initially want to play classical I plan to at least start my Double Bass playing with her. I've also enquired about the Stentor Student II for sale on here, just have to wait and see how far away it is!! Cheers for the advice and comments anyhow, peace.
2. Hi folks, Well as you can guess I'm looking to buy a Double Bass, I'm starting with classical studies then onto other bits and bobs. I've seen some on the Thomann website that look ok, but I think I'd rather buy used as it's generally better value. Anyone got some good suggestions for a decent beginner bass? Cheers.
3. Wrong on so many levels!
4. Just sold some magazine to Rainer (well read sold as 'for a contribution to BC') and all was good. He even gave a little more than he said he would , top BCer!!
5. Cheers for that, I've left my details so we'll see what happens!!
6. Cheers for the responses. I'll find a local teacher first and go from there. Peace.
7. Hi folks, I've been thinking recently that I wouldn't mind trying out a DB if anyone is willing to let me have a try on theirs? I'm in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire if that helps at all? If not anyone know of where else I could try one? I'm thinking I'd like to start with classical playing, then move onto other styles. Also can anyone recommend any tutors in my area? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated and for once I'm quite excited!! Cheers in advance.
8. The bass line is an embellished (very nicely though ) one taken from the actual track. There was an old keyboard that had the same demo and you could separate the instruments and the b line was basically the same as above (bar most of the fills!), very nice groove for a demo song and I'm sure someone could be made into a nice full length jazz/funk piece with a bit of work
9. Yup, well produced and nice and clear. The music notion idea is really good, always good to know what you're doing on paper
10. I've had a 5 string SS1 before and was pleasantly surprised by the feel of the neck, I thought it would be fatter than it was. If you compare it to a Streamer Jazzman 5 or a Thumb BO 5 (non broadneck) it feels slimmer when compared. Also I personally really like the broadneck spacing, I've got a pair of fretted and fretless broadnecked BO 5 Thumb basses and they feel really nice to play.

SOLD.

Looks like a great bass to venture into 5 strings with some style
12. Man, bargin there Greg , if I wasn't being so strict on not buying any more basses I'd probably be interested lol! Have a 'Bargin' bump on me!! ps 'An Offering' is a great album, keep it up dude
13. Hey I'd like to try it as well if possible please, by the way it's an ace idea and all in a good community spirit, nice one Chris
14. mmm, tried a fair few in my time and have now settled for 2 thumb BO 5 broadnecks. I sold 2 jazzes and 2 P basses in the process and thought they were all keepers, a bit odd but tastes do change I suppose. I used to have a thumb nt5 that was a work of art (IMO) but the fit wasn't that good for me. The BO basses fit me that bit better and while they don't sound quite as 'thick' as the NT (they both have soapbars rather than single coils) they are probably a little bit more versatile. I've also realised now that I much prefer 5 stringers with a wide string spacing so if I do get another wick it'll be broadnecked for sure!!
15. Top notch stuff
16. Just received a Radial pedal from Andy, really easy transaction, great comms, well packaged and sent quickly. Would not hesitate to deal with again, cheers .
17. Hi Stompbox, I've given a couple away today but they're still about 50 or so left! You are indeed correct in that after reading bass mags for a while they do repeat themselves somewhat . If I still have them you're more than welcome to them. Cheers.
18. I've just sold a bass to Chris who trekked up to West Yorkshire from Birmingham on the train! Easy transaction, great comms and a nice guy to top it all off, would not hesitate to deal with again .
19.
I saw this last week and posted it on my FB wall - thought it was brill. I'd have a go at something like this but, know it'd end up sounding like I'd dropped the bass down a flight of stairs!
Lol!!!
20. .... now that is cheap for a decent combo type bump !
