1. Cheers for that, didn't see it first time!
2. just a question, was there any every deal sorted for the covers for these many cabs that have been ordered?
3. email as well today, see how it sounds this Friday I hope as I actually have a rehearsal , however need to get a speakon cable!!
4. One of the other differences is if you go for a 5 string version the SSI has a broadneck with wider spacing whilst the SSII is has normal spacing , I personally prefer the broadneck versions anyhow!
5. Lovely stuff there , I'm starting to think you really can't beat the bow for timbre !
6. Man, that is very impressive Rainer, have a bump on me
7. Hey folks, I've messaged the seller so we'll see. I think I need a bass for my first lesson as I'll be being taught from my home, be a bit odd if I don't have one tbh. I'll have some funds to maybe get a newer one but I would prefer used, kinda like my things warn in a bit , Anyhow cheers for the comments, keep em coming please!
8. Nice one, I've heard you're never too old to learn !!
9. + 1 on a cover discount if group purchase
10. Hi all, Looked at one last night but a: don't know what to look for tbh and b: waiting for funds etc. I've been pricing up a new one as opposed to waiting until never never to get a good used one. Thomann do some interesting ones but I would really rather buy used, much better value. Anyhow I'll keep looking as I really want to start using a bow!! Peace.
11. Got an email saying in at the end of next week, well I'm not hoping too much but you never know!
12. Well I have also put an order in now, I guess we'll see what happens
13. Not surprised this has gone so quickly, a real piece of wick history there !
14. Well I sold 4 passive 4 string fenders a while back so I could concentrate on playing my two 5 strings wicks. Thing is I've been starting to hanker after another couple of 4 string fenders again! Playing live I much prefer the 5 strings but for things like reading etc I'm more at home on a 4. Didn't help that I went to a nice vintage guitar shop yesterday and was offered to have a go on some of their basses, after I played a 79 P, a 66 P (in fiesta red with tort guard!!), a 74 P (and a Jim Reed jazzer!!!) I think the bug might have bitten again. I do find it bizarre how after I found my more than good enough 5 strings I've got gas for an old fender 4 again.
15. Lol, I just tried the above thing and it's true, not much of a gap with the ring fingers!!
16. Yup, the builder has a great setup and obviously knows what he's doing down to a T, I'm sure you'll have a fab bass
17. You could try and get some sheet music for it, then you can follow it along much easier (IMO) than tab. You'll also get to learn a bit of theory in the process
18. mmm, yeah a bit good isn't she !
19.
That clip got me watching Youtube for a bit and I came across this wonderful bit of Norman Watt Roy soloing at 1:30 and no slapping in sight
yeah, a bass solo I actually liked
20. Hey, Geoff is a about 40 minutes from me so I will probably consider getting some jazz lessons at some point. There is also a classical teacher even closer (err, about 2 miles!) to me called Jennifer Nicks. As I initially want to play classical I plan to at least start my Double Bass playing with her. I've also enquired about the Stentor Student II for sale on here, just have to wait and see how far away it is!! Cheers for the advice and comments anyhow, peace.
21. Hi folks, Well as you can guess I'm looking to buy a Double Bass, I'm starting with classical studies then onto other bits and bobs. I've seen some on the Thomann website that look ok, but I think I'd rather buy used as it's generally better value. Anyone got some good suggestions for a decent beginner bass? Cheers.
22. Wrong on so many levels!
23. Just sold some magazine to Rainer (well read sold as 'for a contribution to BC') and all was good. He even gave a little more than he said he would , top BCer!!
24. Cheers for that, I've left my details so we'll see what happens!!
