1. Great playing from Trevor Bolder and a lovely EB3 tone.
2.
The thing is mate, working life gets in the way of creativity, through stress, lack of dedication time, lack of time to think. Lack of investment, in terms of time and money erodes musical expression and quality. Why do you think new orchestral music is in such short supply? You have to make some money at music to be the best you can be. I know what I'd be doing if I won the lottery.
Entirely correct. Interesting how we take recorded music for granted when not so many years ago, the only way to hear music was to play it yourself or be in the same room as someone performing. We gained a lot through recorded music, but perhaps we lost something too.
3. It's an open A, chuck a few octaves in and there's the F# triplet/E/C# at the end of bar 2.
4.
The £150 I spent on some ER15s a decade odd ago was the best money I've ever spent on anything music related.
Agreed. Worth noting that you're supposed to renew them every five years (completeley new plugs and filters). I've had mine for ten years too!
5. Is the neck profile on the modern player a big fat C like the original, or a flattened C as on the squier vintage modified TB?
6. You should see what they're saying about him over on tauruspedalchat.co.uk
7. Love playing this and singing the harmonies, but it never goes down very well, we find.
8. If you mean the section at 3 mins, it sounds like tenths. I play D(E string) with F#(G string) then B with D and A with C#. That's assuming you're playing it in D and not the detuned C# of the recording.
9.
I kinda see your point, but... two words. Camera. Eye. Don't bother with the 'adjacent room' bit. It'll sound like that if you listen in the same room.
Yes, fair point about Camera eye!
10. I'll stick to slapless fretting.
11. I'm a huge fan, but I won't be bothering with this. I simply don't have the time to wade through four or five hours of DVD which is probably very, very similar to the last one and the one before that. I've watched the R30 DVD once, in installments and that came out six or seven years ago!
12. Free Live - Andy Fraser at his best and one of the best albums of all time. Go and learn it note for note - now! You'll be a better player for it.
13. About three years ago, only one I've ever broken on a gig in 25 years. The A string went on the penultimate note of Radar love at the end of the first set - perfect timing!
14. Is that a giant olive falling infront of his face?
15. Hillage is one of the best guitarists to come out of this country, no question. He's also responsible for some of the best music ever, especially Motivation radio.
16. Buckle rash: No need to cover the back of your bass with gaffa tape. No need to tuck a beer towel into your trousers. Simply move your belt buckle one loop to the side.
17. It's been on there for quite some time, perhaps because it's ridiculously overpriced, as is the 72 Tele they're selling with some nasty dents and scratches (not ordinary natural looking wear) and a missing bridge cover and thumb rest for £3200!!!
18. Most importantly - Sing!
19. Chords, double stops, digging in hard, playing open strings along with octave or open G with 5th fret G etc. As much noise as poss!
20. It's commonplace for a headline band to have their gear onstage whilst the support sets up theirs infront. It's easy to play a set without damaging the other bands equipment.
21. Interesting that while the Yanks say "Aloo-min-um" and we say "Aluminium", they say "Nee-oh-die-nee-um" whilst we say "Nee-odd-mee-um".
22. Icicles, bicycles, tricycles, test....ing, testing. One, two, one, two, I really, really want to.
23. I once used one to hold the exhaust together on a Bedford Astra van, worked a treat.
24.
what about my best offing the individuals?
I think we are losing the battle over incorrect usage of your/you're, just take a look around the internet. Now that's depressing!
25. When they don't seem quite as commited as you. I've heard these two many times: "I haven't played my guitar/drums/keyboards since the last rehearsal." "I wouldn't want to gig more than a couple of times a week."
