  1. Howdy all! Up for sale are a set of Nordstrand “Fat Stack” 5 string pickups. Matching neck and bridge models. These were supplied in my Shuker Jazz from new, almost 13 years ago… how time flies. dimensions are approx 109mm by 32mm, and 22mm vertically… I believe this is commonly referred to the Bartonlini P2 size. Condition is ok, no chunks out of them or major scratches. Working perfectly prior to removal. Some wear to tops from where you can see strings have across them, and some white marks on sides from when I got a bit over-zealous with some thick polish.. I’ll give them a good clean before shipping, and before they go in the box to ship I’ll double check the coils are reading an impedance. Sound is punchy and aggressive to my ear, quite mid heavy. I’ve just changed out for Aguilar DCB for a change! three wires coming off them means you can ground one of the coils for a bigger output, although this is at the expense of the hum cancelling properties. please note these are older ones and the outer casing doesn’t have the Nordstrand logo on it. £130 shipped to your door in the U.K.
  2. This is a cracking bass, I’ve had the pleasure of playing it a couple of times and it’s an absolute beaut. Charlie is a real genuine guy and a gentleman to boot!
  3. Just got home after purchasing Karl’s 74 Jazz. lovely experience which I would do again in a heartbeat. I felt incredibly welcomed by Him and was given time and space to make my mind up. The honest answer is I could have walked out of there with the bass after 5 minutes, but it was a joy to stay a while longer to enjoy some good company and a relaxed chat about all things Bass, the M6, toilet flush handles and the benefits of shipping with UPS. Karl, it was a pleasure. Best of luck for the future.
  4. Just completed a deal where Mikkel bought my Stingray Fretless. Great example of how easy an international transaction can be. Great communications helped keep this a worry free exchange. Mikkel handled all the financial side with no hassle, I just had to sort out getting the Bass to him safely. From initial message to writing this we got it sorted in a week. Dont hesitate to do business with this guy! Enjoy the bass dude.
  5. Hey Eude! I loved owning it and the years where it was my go to bass! Really glad it’s getting a new lease of life. hope you’re well.
  6. Thanks! Stick on some chorus and Reverb and you’re full on back in time and playing on a paul young album!!
  7. Great player, great guy. Had a fun afternoon chatting bass with Johann and was really pleased such a cool guy was having a bass that really was something special. Enjoy it dude!

(SOLD) Hello Basschat community! It’s the Classic story... I’m looking to move on two of my instruments, to make room for one special one! Not that the two I’m going to shift aren’t special... but you know 😉. So here’s number two of a two part post! This is a Jon Shuker custom built 6 string bolt on singlecut bass, with a super comfy 33” scale length. I was the second owner of this Bass, having bought it from the original owner. I’ve absolutely loved owning it, and it was my main bass through my most busy times of gigging. I loved its weight, compactness, sound, and the super low action you can achieve on it. It all added it up to make a bass you could play super long sets on and not be worn out by it. In more recent years I found it relegated to sitting in a gig bag, which is a huge shame considering it’s calibre. Those unfamiliar with Jon Shuker, Jon is a bass luthier based in the Peak District. I’ve owned five of his basses and they’ve all been stunners in their own way. Heres the specs as of when it came to me courtesy of the previous owner! BODY >> white ash body squareish front edge (to mimic old slab style bodies) forearm contour, rear rib carve and rear edge rounded to 1/2" dark amboina burr drop top individual bridge units 17mm spacing black hardware 2 X EMG 45DC - neck and bridge EMG Preamp* fitted later by me satin topcoat NECK >> 33" scale 24 frets medium frets 5 piece maple/wenge neck 20.5mm deep at 1st fret, 22mm at 12th, gentle C profile, pretty slim rosewood board 20" radius dark amboina burr headstock veneer gotoh gb707 tuners 57mm nut carbon fibre neck reinforcement MOP side dots only two way truss rod brass nut satin finish An notable addition I have made to the bass is the EMG three band 18v preamp. This expanded the range of tones available from the bass, as I really wanted the ability to alter the mud frequency on the fly. I’ve also fitted new battery snaps (and improved the battery cavity) in the past, and given it a new good quality jack socket sling the way. Condition wise, I’ve done my best to picture the bass. The bass is in ok shape, but does have some scratches/dents from general gigging/rehearsal room life. Please take time to look at the pictures, and get in touch if you’d like adetsiled shot of any particular areas. Trade wise... I’m only interested in a early 70’s Jazz or a custom shop Jazz, which would obviously involve cash in the other parties direction, which I’m happy to discuss. Any questions please get in touch!
  10. Hello Basschat community! It’s the Classic story... I’m looking to move on two of my instruments, to make room for one special one! Not that the two I’m going to shift aren’t special... but you know 😉. So here’s number one of a two part post! Its a 1986 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray Fretless! It’s been part of my collection since 2016. The bass comes complete with a case that I believe is original, it has a Musicman sticker on it but I realise that this could have been stuck on! From seeing other basses of this age it looks correct to me. So the bass! It’s everything you’d expect of a bass of this age. The body has the dings you’d expect of a used instrument, but they certainly give it character. The Lacquer on the body has that beautiful crazed effect of age. The fingerboard is in good condition for the age, some string marks but nothing that affects playability (See photos). This is partly due to a previous owner having a carbon fibre neck made for the Bass, meaning the original was a spare for quite some time. The tortoishell guard is one I bought for it, bought from stringsandthings the U.K. Musicman distributor. The original black one will be supplied with bass. The electronics are good considering the age, a little clunky and not super quiet, but once you hit the sweet spot the classic Musicman growl is there, you’ll have no trouble getting lost in the mix for sure! The bridge is complete with the foam mutes, with the screws still turning to get them into position. These add another dimension to the sound if required, really cool. Currently strung up with a set of Rotosound Adrian Harris Flatwounds which are a great heavy flat wound set. Priced at £1000.00, payable by cash or bank transfer. I can ship not trouble via UPS, which I’m happy to cover. Bass is available to try in Walsall, West Midlands. Trade wise... I’m only interested in a early 70’s Jazz or a custom shop Jazz, which would obviously involve cash in the other parties direction, which I’m happy to discuss. Any questions please get in touch!
