What to buy for £35? Suggestions please.
Thunderpaws replied to Thunderpaws's topic in General Discussion
The B1on is getting a lot of love here! I can silently practice with my Streamliner head so that's the only thing putting me off at the moment. Anyone got any pedals around this price point that are a joy to behold? Or a practice amp? -
Slightly over budget but well worth the extra tenner http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-B1on-Bass-Effects-Pedal/dp/B00JLEHMG6/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1454851984&sr=1-1&keywords=zoom+b1on
That's cool. Have a zoom b1 but a couple of buttons are bust. This could be just the ticket. I'll do a bit of YouTube research. Anything else out there? -
Elixir strings would be my option. Great tone, feel lovely on the fingers and they last for a hell of a long time. I have a set on my bass for 6 months now and they are still spot on. All you got do is give them a wipe down immediately after gigs/rehearsals and thats it
Yeah, had some previously and they were great. Just restrung though. -

Ola. Have been given £35 Amazon vouchers. What should I buy? I have a tuner and some dirt. What's fun but useful for that money?

And if you want 3 D models, exploded drawings and orthographic drawings I am too.

Hi folks. Does anyone know what the difference is between the new and old version of these? Both can be had at a pretty reasonable price, though Thomann include the 12v adaptor. Just usually buy from UK if possible but it seems the adaptor has to be bought separately in the U.K. Shops.

EHX Bass Soul Food for me too. Is always on and has helped my Genz Streamliner come alive and cut through a Guitard heavy mix. Love it.

Mine has the cedar top. It is lovely indeed. No marks yet but it is only a week old! In off to the Alps for a week, in transit now, so hopefully my three year old leaves it well alone while I am gone. It's going to be used at home only so should stay pretty tip top.

So, had a decent amount of vouchers for Guitar Guitar and popped into their Edinburgh store with the aim of getting a Yamaha THR 10 and a compressor for my bass. Got there, played a range of instruments through the THR, and was immensely appreciative of its versatility. A PBass sounded pretty good through it and much louder than I thought was possible through the small form factor. It didn't distort at high volumes either which was also a nice surprise. The guitar amp models also sounded really good, though the High Gain model was a bit silly, but is supposed to be. Anyhow, I decided to pop next door to their new acoustic shop and had a nice informative chat with the shop attendant. I wandered around looking at guitars that cost more than my car until he brought out some acoustic guitar for me to try. I'll skip straight to the one I walked out with. It's a Seagull. I hadn't heard of the brand before. It's made by Godin in a small village near Quebec in Canada. The French bit. It's clearly better than the others I tried at the same price point (£350ish), more like the others I tried around £600ish. Finishing, timber, assembly all seems top notch. However, it was the ease of playing and the sound that won it for me and postponed my THR buying. I have large hands. The neck seems to suit them. The sound wasn't too trebly or too bass heavy. Somewhere in between. Just right for me. Sounds warm as hell. Projects immensely well too. The sides are made from wild cherry from Canada and the grain pattern is pretty cool. Not like furniture. The action is low bit with no fret buzz. It has a properly thought out bridge. The tuners turn positively and tuning seems to have held up well since I got it a week ago and temperatures have been up and down. Absolutely delighted with it. It's time for me to learn to play it properly.

Just spotted the Crayon overdrive pedals from EHX and see they have a bass knob, as well as Treble. Anyone used one of these with bass guitar yet and have an opinion?
At a rehearsal on Saturday morning, my PF500 decided to kick the bucket once again. Incredibly frustrating as I had a gig that evening and a couple over the Christmas period. So once it gets back from repair, it will be sold for something of greater reliability. But, since I use the portaflex cabs I would like something that fits in the aesthetic to some degree. 3 possibilites: PF800 - I assume it is more reliable? Fits into aesthetic. Mark Bass - Little Tube 800 - More gain, great sound, but doesn't fit in the aesthetic Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 - Good middle ground option, but I always struggled with output from the PF500, so the tone hammer will just have the same problem. Any other suggestions?
What about that VT 500 amp from Tech21.
All our new lightweight Mesa heads and cabs have now been sold. We hope to see fresh supplies in late February 2016.
And you must've played with at least one of them before they went out the door! What're they like?
If it looks like ABM that's probably one of the jest versions, made in 97-98. The amp name was changed later to ABM due to legal problems with the Klystron name.
Could be. I take it your phone changed first to jest! It's not the one in the video above. Were the first ones any good? It's got all the same knobs and sliders. Has the sub, drive and compressor.

Was in Kenny's Music today for a couple of minutes. There was a head there that looked like an ABM500 but had a silver face plaw and FUgly knobs. It said Klystron on the front in script font. Does anyone know anything about it? I had a wee Google search and a search on the Ashdown site but didn't see it.

Found a really cool bass line in an unexpected place...

My wee boy is right into Paw Patrol at the moment. Super catchy theme song and based on green day type pop rock guitar sounds. Bearable. -
Hi Phil. The offer is still open here for CAD work.

New Ampeg PF 20 and PF 50 and a new Cab too
Thunderpaws replied to Thunderpaws's topic in Amps and Cabs
You can use this DI without a cab attached too. Makes so much sense for recording at home and those mostly into small gigs with PA support. I actually now want one! -
An all valve amp to see what all the fuss is about.

need clean pristine sound for practise/recording
