  1. I really enjoyed it. Was a good watch. McAvoy is superb in it.
  2. "His recommendation is ear defenders as they cover the bone too." - you do know that the whole body is a conductor? Or should I say, your doctor? Tap the top of your head and tell me you can't hear anything. Tinitus - despite being strong correlations to musicians playing in loud environments, factory workers in loud environments... lets just say it's just as likely to be neurological or blood pressure. Man, there's some bizarre thinking. Whilst it's true that nobody understands the full manifestations of tinitus, only a fool would look at the statistics and just go meh, just a bit of blood pressure. I reckon you should get a new ear quack.
  3. With some of the posts going on in here, to be fair, I would be more concerned at the fact that I had been dropped on my head as a child, than wearing earplugs.
  4. How about - Earplugs Don't Work in situations where the level of attenutation is not enough to reduce the sound pressure levels acting upon your inner ear (through bone conduction and the earplug itself) to a safer level.
  5. Ha good one. No, I was more referring to things like - consider wearing earplugs – you can buy re-usable musicians' earplugs that reduce the volume of music but don't muffle it and Make sure you wear any hearing protection you're given. I wouldn't have thought I would have had to spell it out... but there does seem to be a lack of common sense in this thread... so hey.
  6. Interesting that this doctor seems to have conflicting views to that of the NHS... https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/top-10-tips-to-help-protect-your-hearing/ ...and of common sense.
  7. But I know you'll see your face again... unless the ear infection spreads through your sinuses, into your eyes... causing permanent blindness.
  8. He missed the bit "if you don't put them in your ears" off the end.
  9. Ear infections you say? - Which is why you clean earplugs/IEMs with alcohol wipes to kill the nasties - or even give them a UV bath (check out something like the ACS Revivo. But it's no different to hearing-aids. They need to be appropriately maintained also - and hence why they have UV cleaners and vacs available... like IEMs.)
  10. There's no telling some people... ...but that's because they are deaf.
  11. It's OK people, I've got my bullet proof vest, bring it on, I'm all good. What an absolutely absurd thread.
  12. Turn up the subs. That should add a bit of low end wobble...
  13. There is some truth in saying that ear plugs don't work.... just like when you wear sunglasses and look directly at the sun. If you are standing in 140dB, then your -15dB plugs aren't going to do you that much good. I think that it's about being sensible with the volumes. Wearing earplugs is better than not wearing earplugs. Wearing IEMs is better than earplugs (especially in terms of sound reproduction... the claims that earplugs don't mess with the frequency response is nonsense... they do). - as long as you aren't blasting them at horrendous volumes.
  14. Maybe if they took their earplugs out, they'd be able to hear him shout..?
  15. Always difficult in these situations due to not having much control over the setup. My advice would be utilise something like this - At least you can play and protect your ears - and get an easy “more me” function if needed by taking a free from your amp (even if it’s just taking your own mic and putting it in front of the bass cab)
  16. Maybe take a punt on a few different types of tips... you may find something that fits you a bit better. Otherwise it’s a leap of faith!
  17. It’s a trick to get you into the auction page - select a earpiece in the drop down to get the proper pricing!
  18. It sounds like you are in a similar position to me. Universals will fit me - but have a tendency to just fall out every now and again - which was the reason I first tried customs. It may be the time to look at customs - but understand that that's quite an investment compared to a set of ZS10s.
  19. Meh. You don't use instrument mics on instruments if you are rock n roll.
  20. It’s rock and roll. Stick a 58 in front of it (with dented grille - this is really important) and be done with you!
  21. To be honest, if I like gear, I’ll but it because I believe in it. The only thing that I’d really covet is a DR strings deal... I don’t think I’d actually want my mug in a magazine so it can be pulled out 20 years later on a bass forum so my naff hair and dress sense could be ripped apart...
  22. Jeez, Pete Townsend has really upped his game.
