  1. Are you sure that your soldering is correct between the stereo sockets. Tip to tip, Ring to Ring, Sleeve to Sleeve?
  2. No worries Davo - glad that you could hear the benefits of a multiple driver setup. Just goes to show that you can get an immense amount of headroom and low end response without breaking the bank! Enjoy!
  3. And this is why guitarists are always a nightmare when it comes to inears. Playing for themselves instead of the overall sound of the band. Bad for your hearing? In the fact that you can have a lower SPL? If JB has explored Klang and all the ambient options available, then I would be receptive of his wide, sweeping statements. In Ears have reduced the amount of people that have resulted in having chronic tinnitus... I'd say that's saving your ears. I find it interesting that all those that don't advocate the use of IEMs (typically the old school rockers) - are all the ones that are struggling with insufferable ringing ears. As for comments about the dynamics... the sounds engineers are in control of the dynamics that audience hear anyway, whether you are using IEMs or not. If your guitar rigs are overpowering the PA, then the balance of music that the audience here is greatly compromised anyway. Better to have a set of ears out front where the audience are to balance the mix. Fatter and fuller sound - he's saying a desk full of processing and a PA with full range reproduction can't produce a fatter and fuller sound? Err... try getting a fuller and fatter sound out of your kick drum without any processing and see how far you get. If you can't get a fatter and fuller sound, it's down to poor engineering or inadequate tools... not down to the concept of running a quieter stage with the PA doing the work. I think we can say that JB is a dinosaur who doesn't give a stinky poo about the health of his own, or other people's hearing. But hey, that's rock n roll.
  4. I defo don't agree that latency doesn't really doesn't get noticed until around 20ms! Tolerances on IEMs usually top out at 10ms... some people are lower. I just don't understand why people would choose to add latency when a wireless unit is meant to be a cable replacement (with sub sub sub sub sub ms latency?)
  5. The latency of the G75 is sub 1.5ms... so it's actually pretty much top of the tree in terms of latency out of all the digital wireless systems out there. I would say it's significantly better... or in other words, leaps and bounds better. Or to put it another way... the G75 has pretty much half the latency of the tour grade digital wireless systems (although alot of those are running encryption also).

    EBS Micro Bass 3!

Indeed - and one of the reasons it's lost one of the nice features (phantom power over XLR). I'm guessing there's some digital element going on with the tuner too - which will add to the power consumption somewhat.
  7. I think the biggest unanswered question is... are they going to rework the Trump blimp?
  8. When you see pedals like this, it's no wonder a lot of bands sound crap - when you want to hear the bass, it seems counter-intuitive to cut the bass... but that's usually the solution to the problem. Hard hitting lows? Look around 80-180. Leave 65 for your kick.
  9. 40Hz? Exactly what you don't want in a live gig situation.
  10. Good stuff - do report back!

  12. Function band pedal? Tuner. That's it. Go straight into the PA and let that take care of your volume. Tone shaping and a compressor on the desk will usually do a better job than pedals. If you have an amp on stage, keep the volume low and use it just for monitoring. If possible, ditch it all together and go IEMs.
  13. Good to hear that the size is looking to be right... that’s one of the key aspects... portability! Already looking at making that aspect better with further weight reduction and making it easier to handle - but without any impact to the feel and feedback that the board gives. Again, it’s got to be right, no corners cut! For example, Nick has reworked some of the internals and shaved half a kg off the weight. Nick concurs that the electronic components are working well with a uniform, highly responsive feel across the board... so that’s a good result and certainly what we have been going for. It’s a carpet tile. The moulding of the top is expensive so we've got to get the board right before we think about pulling the trigger on that (approaching 4 figures for the moulding) - so the carpet will do for now until the board mechanics are finalised. Obviously, the cosmetics will be spot on like in the earlier pics - myself and Nick are very OCD about that element! Amps bubbling along... but in order to get the most out of the amp, got to finalise the board as there is some special sauce happening in the amp to specifically match up with the board. keep the feedback coming!
  14. There's plenty of people using class D... it's always the same on forums, certain ideas, in this case, bashing class D and muttering words like "heft" and low and behold, stuff sticks. Take it with a pinch of salt - there's load of good... no - great class D amps that people will use for whatever reason.
  15. To use a volume pedal as a expression pedal, you need an insert cable (otherwise known as Y cable with TS (vol pedal input), TS (vol pedal output), and TRS which then goes into your expression in on whatever pedal/device you want).
  16. I guess we got to bring it in at the right price - so, affordable, especially compared to the competition!
  17. OK... so behind the scenes, things are progressing nicely... Migrated from all the hand built prototypes and getting covered in sawdust... to a CNCed board. The fabulous @intime-nick is out tonight road testing cnc prototype #1 to see what he thinks of it. Obviously, this board is without the cosmetics and the moulded rubber pad and the like, but the construction is all looking good and all being well, the feedback is uniformly good across the board and highly responsive like the hand built prototypes. Already learned a bit about where we can make improvements but pretty stoked at how things are looking. Hopefully you can see that this board is completely usable and portable enough not to be a nightmare to move around... even great for stages that are a lot smaller than your stadium gigs! (which is the point - IEMs in pubs rock too!) Let us know what you think!
  18. Umm- both really. Separate power supplies will give you an isolated feed - but tend to be a bit clunky. A power brick can give you isolated supplies or it may not - some of the cheaper bricks are simply a daisy chain disguised in a nice looking box. It's usually a big marketing piece - if it says isolated outputs, you are ok, if it doesn't say anything about isolated outputs, then it's a daisy chain in a nice box.
  19. Some pedals are prone to noise if they aren't run from their isolated supply. In short, if you daisy chain and there's no noise, then jobs a goodun. If there is no noise, find the noisy pedal(s) and run that from it's own/isolated supply. There's plenty of touring artists running pedals off daisy chains.
  20. Not had any experience - I stopped buying cheaper IEMs as I found out I started filling a drawer with then and started giving them away to people. Not a great way of me hanging onto money! Anyway, the C10s review favourably it would seem with the inevitable split of people preferring one over the other. In reality, without A Bing them next door to each other, both will perform comparably in a gigging situation. If budget is an issue, go for the cheapest and put the money aside to work towards customs if you find IEMs are your thing.
  21. People looking for a nice set of UE900s may want to look at the HQ12s currently on offer at our favourite Chinese shop - https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32956683162.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail&spider=y&productId=32956683162&productSubject=Yinyoo-HQ12-12BA-in-Ear-Earphone-Custom-Made-Balanced-Armature-Around-Ear-Earphone-Headset-Earbuds-With (that’s 12 BA per side in a universal for just over the price of a UE900 quad) Or if you want to get under 200, there’s a great deal on the 10 BA units too - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Yinyoo-HQ10-10BA-in-Ear-Earphone-Custom-Made-Balanced-Armature-Around-Ear-Earphone-Headset-Earbuds-With/32917746801.html
  22. What’s a small budget in pounds?
  23. See the post above. You are right, that’s the common way - but there are other ways to get a serviceable inears mix without a desk. Hope this helps!
