  1. Nice - some good recordings considering the proximity of you all. I'm surprised that you managed to get such a clean set of vocals without cymbal bleeding into the mics - sounds great for a desk recording.

  3. Sounds like you could do with a fret skim and dress - if the fret edges are sharp, chances are is that the frets have just been put in and thats it. To get the best out of your instrument, they'll need to be skimmed, crowned and dressed.
  4. Oh yes. Jebus, they were giving Fret King a run for their money with those!
  5. I dunno, when amp manufacturers have a go at building basses.... Yeah, those T-Basses stood the stand of time didn't they... Oh, and those Ashdown Lodestone things...
  6. They look like Vic Firth VFSIH1s. If you don't mind the visuals of them, they seem to offer (going from the specs) similar isolation to custom IEMs... but at a lesser price - because they can use bigger, cheaper dynamic drivers to deliver the sound.
  7. That assuming the port for the windows version has been done as well as the pi
  8. Indeed. All ugly basses seem to burn the same way when you set them on fire.
  9. Can't vouch for Atom but the MS Surface Pro, 4Gb RAM i5 with the XR18 is a pretty good combo. I'd imagine even the Atom stuff would be fairly capable as you can run up the XR software on a Pi no hassle at all... and is responsive. The app appears to be very lightweight.
  10. Be careful - look at the QSC touchmix facebook groups. The sw isn't as stable as it could be (not that the audio fails - the interface generally locks). I dep with a band that uses a Touchmix 16 - and have to say it's pretty good - although it is running on the original firmware. I can see that if you want a physical interface on the unit, it is appealing.
  11. Not ethernet! USB. The other ballache with the XR - is that there is a maximum distance that USB cables can be without using relatively expensive repeaters (and adds to the chance of failure in the comms)... which means your recording device (eg laptop) has to be in close proximity to the XR.
  12. That's true - that's why you use Dante over ethernet. Anyway, it doesn't help that the comment above alludes to the Behringer doing it's recording over ethernet. It doesn't. The ethernet connection on the XRs are for network connectivity for control... and the other is for Ultranet, which is for their Aviom equivalent for monitoring mixing. The key difference is that the Behringer presents itself as an audio interface (via USB) so a DAW etc is required for recording. Unlike the XRs, The A&H and Mackie mixers (not A&H GLD) will do direct to disk multitrack recording. (They will also present as an audio interface like the Behringer). For the X32 to record multitrack, you need to install XLive card, that will record direct to SD or use it as an audio interface like the XRs. If you want to record over ethernet from the X32, you'll need a Dante card. I've got a couple of DL32R with Dante cards - that enables you to go 64 channels direct to my laptop for recording. Pretty cool stuff.
  13. Maybe it was all about getting a "celeb" for the socials...?
  14. @stingrayPete1977 - definitive.
  15. I'm talking about the virtual faders that are in the app.
  16. You can - the only problems comes if you have moved the sliders. It will recall with the saved slider positions.
  17. Before you blame the preamp, source of noise can also be noisy pickups (is the soapbar a true soapbar, a single coil... split coil, humbucker?)... a lack of shielding... As for a blend pot, you can hard wire it to a full panned position - voila, single pickup preamp.
  18. Their background I believe is supplying ear plugs to the NHS - so closed mouth. (I think they lost the contract - hence the diversification - but don't quote me on that) What worries me more, is that when I spoke to them about phase alignment and coherence of drivers, I was met with a glazed expression. Didn't fill me with much confidence. I was there when Al Murray had his ear impressions taken for his IEMs from them. Face palmed as they were laughing and joking with him... sans bite block 😕
  19. EX29s. To be honest, unless you can play like PG, nobody really is in a position to pass comment about the coolness of his headphones! 😛
  20. Surprisingly, a lot of audiologists don't appreciate the needs for an open mouth impression - most of their work is for closed mouth impression ear protection (e.g. for working in a factory) or hearing aids. If in doubt, 64 have all the relevant terminology in their impressions guide, found here - https://www.64audio.com/img/instructions2.pdf
