  1. That's because they aren't using IEMs.
  2. I think it's because we look at the equipment through UK centric eyes. A lot of gear gets sold in mainland Europe and the States, where the gigging scene is a lot, lot different to over in the UK. I'm guessing that small and light and things like kick back amps are a lot less important when you take the global customer base into account. I remember talking to EBS about the need for a a small lightweight class D head. They looked into it and at the time, they deemed it wasn't necessary because the majority of the cabs and amp sales were the big units (410s, 610s, 212, 810)... I think at the time, their best selling amp was the Classic 450 - which did pretty much nothing over here - same as the T90... but abroad, it sold well. They said to me it made no financial sense to go to a small lightweight solution as their sales (I dont know about now) were still growing with the larger gear. Even though there is now a small (ish) EBS class D amp, I still think that was released based on profit margin than anything else. They've killed off pretty much all of their amps - TD660 and Fafner... and all of their cabs are made from a lot cheaper components than when they originally came out. I still believe their bigger cabs are selling better than the small stuff they do.
  3. Because they don't do that on tours. If you want a monitor wedge, use a monitor wedge.
  4. From their site - The all-new FR800 represents the logical conclusion of that concept - a true full-range active PA loudspeaker. Think that sums up what it is.
  5. Maybe so! Pretty much every band that I know of bar only a few, it seems like the bass player is usually the one that is valued the least musically (grr) but is pretty much the go to person for all things technical.
  6. Berg IP- although it's now discontinued. Before it's time maybe?
  7. Always the guitarist and the drummer.... And are those valve watts? Or 80s FET? Seems like your job of being the techie one seems to be cemented early on...
  8. Hey Nick. Yeah. Indeed - I have to think carefully about gigs I do without the provision for IEMs. I just don't enjoy them. Same with limiters... I can cope with a dull gig with a limiter with inears... but otherwise, nah, not worth the hassle for the amount of enjoyment I get out of them. Maybe it's an age thing, maybe it's that I demand more from gigs than just turning up and getting paid. So XR18 time for the new band? £350. It's cheaper than most mixers with a decent number of XLR inputs and onboard FX. Even factoring in the cost of a tablet or old laptop, it's still fiercely competitive for what it can do. The Zoom hack is basically a clunky version of what the Live System is doing with regard to ambient sound. It does the job for what it's trying to do I guess. In other words, better than not having it. Talking of which, I do still use my ACS very occasionally (now that I've had the cable fixed AGAIN) for earplugs with a variable level (that's if the SPL isn't too high for the mics) as it's better than earplugs in regard to the sound quality and the not messing with the frequencies like a traditional ear plug does (despite what the advertising says).
  9. Isn't turning up to a gig with a keytar like a bass player turning up to a pub gig with a Chapman stick? It's all a bit cringe.
  10. Just make sure your outfit detracts from the keytar
  11. Cool... that's the idea! Although if you change your se215s for some ZS10s (less than 40 quid), you'll suddenly discover a whole world of bass response that your haven't been getting through a set of 215s. Be wary though - it may set you off on a journey of IEM addiction.
  12. Surely that's invitation for posting "cool" Keytar pics.
  13. As do a lot of people that appear on the BBC it would seem.
  14. Finally decided to refresh promo this year... decided that this is the year of the Youtube... so kicking things off...
  15. HNY to you! I haven’t really used them much as strictly speaking, you shouldnt really need them if the fit is correct. Two things may be the issue - you aren’t quite pushing the moulds deep enough into your ear, or the fit isn’t quite right - a little build up of acrylic will make all the difference.
  16. Something simple like a Behringer Xeynx 802 will do. Phantom for your condenser. Why do you need the XLR output? Jack to XLR will do you for your mixer to P2.
  17. And a pair of try hard wayfarers. Oh and something written on his palms with a Sharpie.
  18. I'll say it before anybody else does.... LEDs.
  19. You dont need fingers to mash some keys. Or strings.
  20. When given the option, The Niffler would steal the keytar... a selfless act to save us all.
