On the Markbass website there looks like something is possibly going on. Are we all about to start selling our beloved EBS equipment ? ( thats a joke BTW)
Marcus was still using EBS when he was endorsed by SWR. I wouldn't read too much into the whole endorsement thing in this case!
^ Nice! ^ Never played a kemper live but have recorded with one (no, I don't own it) - I shouuld get the chap who owns it to profile the V4..
It's a very impressive piece of kit - I've only just started to delve deep into it. It certainly seems that it delivers everything it promises to. Just hooking it up to the remote and editing the fx to taste. So far there seems to no difference in my HD350 and the Kemper take on it.

Is there a reason for the apparent dislike for active basses...
EBS_freak replied to Rocker's topic in Bass Guitars
And there's that lot of players that use passive P and J's and say they don't want anything to do with active basses but add a Sansamp (or similar) in the signal chain, thus making their basses "active".
You could route your bass and stick the Sansamp in your bass. Probably wouldn't be much wood left in your bass... But then of course, routing for batteries and circuits obviously takes away from everything that a passive has on the "tone wood" front. -
You may/may not find this interesting. Think we've covered most of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3CDoE1jaWQ

Looking forward to both of your guys opinions on your respective toys - maybe stick them in the big in ear monitor post to try and keep everything together?

Should be worth stating that a DI mix will sound really bright and harsh as you'd normally expect a speaker on the end of it - even for monitor feeds - what is mixed for a monitor wedge won't necessarily sound right for inears, so the speaker emulation could be a good addition. I suspect this is where the UE tap may fall down... unless they've put decent speaker emulation eq into the box.

Here you go - https://www.eglobalc...adphone-en.html I have had a number of friends order from here, they've come and they are the real deal. Just order with a credit card and you'll be fine. Can't complain at that price. And if they really work for you, you can have them converted to customs for circa £200 quid. As a benchmark, a quad custom is currently riding around £750 now.

IEMs on a tight budget - I fear you aren't going to get the lows out of any of the IEMs that you have mentioned. Save you money and save up... seriously. You'll have a miserable IEM experience otherwise. You aren't going to get the performance you are looking for. I've spent more on headphones than I care to admit... and for bass in an IEM environment, I would say do not got anything less than a quad driver with UE900s being a good bet. Dual lows, mid and high. Probably looking around the 175ish mark but this isn't me being snobby - it's me saying, you are asking a lot from anything less because you are dealing with raw, uncompressed input with huge transients. Looks at the last few pages of the big IEM post for other people's views on them.

Hmm, well the latest posts seem to echo what I worry about it with these things. It struck as a bit of an electronics project from the finish point... and the tracking is still something that I worry about. Still yet to try one in anger though.

On paper - that ART looks good. The Z doesn't do speaker, the X appears to do so. If uncoloured as possible is what you are interested in, check http://shop.kempermu...profiler-di-box - but I bet it's essentially the same inside but just in a pretty box.

This would be so much easier with one or two studiospares splitters and a xr16!

Sounds like a big success then!

No phantom power is very important. If you are splitting a condenser between two desks (or accidentally have phantom power on - or if you desk has a global phantom power on/off for all channels), it's very important that you don't have two desks feeding phantom at the same time. The no phantom power on the first product tells me that the split is not isolated - meaning that you could achieve the same result with just a Y XLR cable. I wouldn't ever recommend a Y split. An isolated split means that only one channel of the pair will ever pass phantom... therefore you run no risk of sending phantom from one desk to another... and there is less chance of crosstalk. You won't be very popular if you accidentally send phantom to a third party soundman's desk... so the isolation is a good move. As Trevor says, the UE Sound Tap is not just a split, it will either allow you to tap into a line/mic level signal going to say, a powered monitor... but it will also let you tap into a powered feed to a passive monitor and bring that powered feed down to line level. I posted reference in the other thread to the Palmer PDI09 which does similar... as does the Kemper DI profiler box.

Calling Trace Anoraks - Late AH300-12 vs Later AH600-12
EBS_freak replied to Deedee's topic in Amps and Cabs
wasn't the SMX just the preamp? then they bolted on different power amps, I've sot a SMX 12 EQ with an AH200 power amp
Thats how I understood it. -
Which is of course what they are doing. IME any connector used in a gigging situation that doesn't lock securely into place is a failure just waiting to happen. I would include the 1/4" Jack in that category as well. It doesn't matter too much if it is just the cable connectors that fail as they can simply be replaced with one of the spares you are carrying, but it's generally the cassis-mounted socket that bears the brunt of the wear and that's far less easy to fix at short notice.
Easier to fix a chassis mounted socket than a snapped two pin connector in a custom IEM. I think you need to be sensible here. If the failure rate was that high (which it isn't) there would be a change in design.
Not sure about the strap. 3.5mm jack connectors, so not a really serious piece of gigging kit unless they are the locking kind like those fitted to some wireless units.
Every wireless IEM pack is 3.5mm and to my knowledge Sennheiser are the only to have threaded jack sockets, but Shure, including their PSM1000, Lectrosonics (e.g. all the market leaders) do not. I would wager the only reason that they do, is because they use the same component on their belt pack transmitters as they do with their belt pack receivers... it makes no sense to carry an extra item as stock and push up the prices for the sake of having a thread or not. That aside, UE, JHA, ACS, Shure, 1964 and all of the big IEM players (including Sennheiser incidentally), do not supply any of their custom moulded IEMs, or even universal IEMs, with cables that locking sockets. I can assure you, when you have custom fitted IEMs, the absolute last thing you want is a locking socket. If the receiver was to drop off your belt and hurtle to wards the floor, you are going to end up with sore ears... and even worse, the two prong attachment on your very expensive custom IEMs will get bent - most likely broken... You best call them all and tell them that they are making toys, not suitable for serious gigging.
