Also, are you wireless or cabled on your bass? If wired, it may be better to run a dual function cable (e.g. one for your bass, one for your inears) than to wrestle with low cost radio systems.

Drop Tonyf a line - although I believe he utilises the MEI1000 and not the MEI100. In the monster IEM thread (linked above), you'll see that most LD users are using the 1000... I don't know if using the 100 is the source of your problems however. Radio gear for wireless IEM is very sketchy unless you are prepared to outlay some serious cash. RF needs to be reliable and the compounders need to be spot on - especially for bass players. Perhaps the response level is not up to what you need? I still haven't tried the LD systems but from all the other budget systems that I have tried, I would say save your money and go wired unless you can plump for either the Sennheiser EW300 or Shure 300/900 - but appreciate that is a much higher investment over what you have already. Having said this, do drop the LD users a line to see what they think - I know Tonyf has been happy with his - but conversely he hasn't heard my EW300s or PSM900s to compare with.

Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Ordered one - thanks!
No problem. Post a pic with the Smooth Hound in place when it arrives - I don't think anybody has used one of these for holding one yet and they are a bit different in their format to other transmitters. -
Pretty much everything is samples or synthesis these days in keyboard land... The days of lugging a B3, Leslie, Rhodes and a Clav to a gig are long gone for 99% of us..
Indeed - and the tweak ability of keycape enables you to capture... or even remove... ever little nuance. So with a mac and a controller keyboard, you have all those instruments at your disposal... without the hassle of actually micing them up to make them sound good. Why would you take out the real thing when the emulation sounds better than what you'd be able to achieve with the real thing?

I would wager the problem is not with your speakers. Are you utilising high pass filters to curb the lows on your desk? I don't know what desk you have but if it's digital, you probably want to be shelving everything under 40 hz on all channels... then the same at 100Hz for vocals, guitars (maybe even higher for guitars), drum kit apart from kick... etc. That should help keep the crap out of the mix before it even hits your speakers. The crossover on your system depends on how well the tops interact with the sub. As a starting point, I would probably crossover at 80 so the tops are doing more work than the sub as you only have one sub... but above all, use your ears... if your ears tell you otherwise, go with that.
It's just samples. Granted they are probably very good samples (it's a bit difficult to tell from a YouTube video) and lots of them, but still just samples.
Its not just samples though - its the way that they have captured the touch of the original instruments. You can't play this product down as "just" samples.
Oh, got a link to that product EBS?
It's the Neotech - as correctly stated by rushbo. The small is generally what you want for standard sized transmitters, so you'll have no problem fitting the smooth hound in there https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neotech-7901114-wireless-pouch-small/dp/B000P4D8G4 -
Pilfered. These will do nicely for the drummist and guitar player who are always wired. Or the Behringer PM1? That'll work with the XR18 won't it?
It will. Pretty much any of the headphone amps mentioned will suit that purpose. You can get them pretty cheap too... PM1 is about the cheapest for the belt pack solution though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slYbmxaBo-I Been waiting for this a long time and finally I got some time with it courtesy of a friend that I play in a band with. Wow wow wow.... Incredible. Better than I ever could have imagined. The instruments are simply to die for - I just cannot see how you can improve on this. The attention to detail is simply incredible.

Or you could just drop the assembly in one of these... less chance of it flying off anywhere. -
For now, I've just spotted the Fischer In-Ear stick! Looks ideal as a back up unit. Will accept either mono balanced or unbalanced XLR/1/4" or stereo unbalanced XLR/1/4"! Small, active and enough power to drive my in-ears. Will also be handy for other headphone amp jobs too. Pretty much what I am looking for before I get a wireless set.
I've actually used one of those on a dep gig. That'll do the job nicely.

Thomanns the box PA 502 A. Anyone using these for live work?
EBS_freak replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Not bothered than "maybe" being digital will have a thinner tone, my back will love them no matter what they sound like lol.
The digipro amps cannot be put in the same basket as the infamous B&O unit... Just because they are digital amps doesn't mean that they are lacking... For example, Powersoft and Digipro (via RCF) have enough presence in the pro PA world to disprove any of these so called "heft" deficiencies! -
You know me so well The G2 is still a good system yeah?
Yes - its like the G3 without the bells and whistles. The audio and RF are comparable - with the exception that the G3 uses both the inbuilt antenna and headphone cable as aerials. The G3 has slightly lower noise floor - but negligible once you are playing.
-
Dood - just go for the radio... by the time you have sorted all the units and the cables you still won't be happy. Bite the bullet and get a Sennheiser... or a G2 off eBay.
This is what concerns me.
Haha good point. If they can send a wedge mix, they should be able to send an ears mix...

If you can stretch to these - https://www.thomann....pera_715_dx.htm These are a much better deal - lighter, louder and more residual value for resale at the end. RCF sister brand so you know you are going to be ok. :-) Or as a meet in the middle you have the 515 - https://www.thomann.de/gb/db_technologies_opera_515_dx.htm -
Solution is simple - desk aux to headphone amp on top of your amp... then headphone extender cable that is plugged into passive volume control on your belt.
I've just started in a new band and we were discussing in ears last night at rehearsal. We've just got to find the best for the least amount of money
If you go to the big thread linked above and read through that, it has all the information you'd ever want... and more. Worth the read.
Do any of you guys using IEMs NOT use your own PA? Would it be a lot more difficult if you were to use them with a house PA/engineer?
You can use an XLR split box and split front of house and have your own mixer doing all the monitor stuff if you want to be that much in control of it. Any decent foh engineer should be able to send you something half decent though.

Westone AM Pro Series IEM * anyone tried them?
EBS_freak replied to largo's topic in Accessories and Misc
3 v 6 - 6 is better. UE18 is a great monitor, sells really well in the audiophile market. I've listened to 15 and 18 drivers per side, complete waste of money. I do know who manufactures the Westone monitor BARs, they are a reputable company...
Ha - I don't know about complete waste of money - but certainly there are different sound signatures... and only you can decide whether that sound signature is worth the money. But I agree, there's lots of BS around with driver count. If you are cramming in drivers just to up the count, you are going to be onto a loser... unless you can really nail the crossovers and phasing issues. -
Come to think of it, my RBX came with coloured ball ends too...

This would suggest otherwise however - http://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/bb/bb424/?mode=model
