I'm in the market for one of these too, but most of what i've found here have a female one and 2 males on the other. I need male to two males
Get a standard male/female splitter set up... and one of these, a male/male coupler. -
I need to add one more pedal to my board, but all five of the plugs from my one spot are used up. Anyone know where I can get a 2 way splitter where the two plugs are both right angled? I've had a look online but they either seem to be straight or in the States
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-BLACK-CABLE-LV-POWER-SPLITTER-2-1MM-1-x-FEMALE-IN-2-x-RIGHT-ANGLE-MALE-OUT-/321915381491?var=&hash=item4af3a6e6f3:m:mdFKsz85xreuOSFaamedpCg -
I wasn't applying this to any situation in particular... just giving a run down of auxes and their typical counts on desks. Not all people's situations are the same... I've played a gig using a GLD80 for 5 mics... (4 vocals and a kick drum) in a pub. Now that's the wrong tool for the job... Or is it?

I came into this thread wanting pictures. I think I have been saved. I've been GAS free for a long time. -
Naaarrrrp.

I've hated Sadowskys. I've loved Sadowskys. They always seem to sound ace in the mix even though the isolated sound generally does nothing for me. I'll jump in the Ricky club though - kinda love the look of them, hate the way they play and (on some) rip into my arm.

Something like this?
I don't know much abut desks but isn't there usually always a line out for monitors? That is the feed we use, balanced lead connecting this to the transmitter. It has a different mix to FOH.
Not always. For analogue - Generally on small analogue desks, there will be one or two. On medium desks, there are typically three or four. On large format desks there are typically 6 to 10 (but we are talking large touring desks here). In touring situations, it's not uncommon to split the XLRs at the stage and have a front of house and a dedicated monitor desk to do the IEM/wedge mixing. In digital world, even the smallest desks tend to have a large aux count than their analogue equivalents. Remember, you'll need two auxes for a stereo IEM mix... so thinking that your desk with 6 auxes is plenty... well, it depends upon what you need. Thats a maximum of 3 stereo mixes, or 6 mono mixes, with a mixture of stereo and monitor mixes in-between those two boundaries. In the digital world though, there are more options... like the Behringer P16 or A&H ME1 - which remove the reliance on dedicate aux busses.
Apologies if I've missed something, as I haven't read through all the thread. Does it have to be all or nothing? For a short time I played in a band where the singer used in-ear monitors but the drummer (who also sang) and guitarist didn't. We all used our own backline. I borrowed a set of in-ear monitors and it was great. I could get the exact mix I wanted. The guitarist hated the idea because he liked to feel his tone as well as hear it.
Not sure what you mean by all or nothing? As in everybody on in ears? Well, that certainly helps as it removes all temptation to turn around and mess with the settings on the amps.

I don't give a rats what I look like. I like to hear on the gig... and I'd like to hear in the future without hearing loss! I'm completely with you!

Can't beat a bit of Tickled Trout action!
Firstly I admit I've never tried IEM's, but a bug bear of mine from an audience stand point, is poor sound when a whole band goes through a PA for pubs. Personally I think it sounds much better just putting the vocals through the PA, and everything else goes through the back line with the volume dictated by how loud the drummer is. Obviously for larger venues a PA is needed. It appears that I'm in a minority though! To be honest I'm rarely impressed by the sound of professional bands in a large venue where the sound is: Bass - an indeterminable rumble, the guitars - a trebly mess, and the only thing that sounds good is the drums and occasionally the vocals. I think some engineers try and recreate the sound of a CD where nothing has any room to breathe, which in my humble, or possibly misguided opinion, is the wrong way to go for live music. I'll get my coat....
I would wager that a lot of pub bands haven't got a PA capable of putting a band through effectively.

A band where the guitarists tone at volume is sacrificed for a tone that is at a sensible volume makes the band sound better full stop. Newsflash. Nobody is listening to the guitar tones. Nobody is listening to the bass tones... Nobody is paying attention to pretty much anything on that level apart from what the singer sounds like. A capable band where the singer sits in a perfect mix is the best sounding band. If you require IEMs to stop the volume wars, do that... that's the way you should go. No worrying if you can hear each other or not - just mix in what you need and nobody will complain. You’ll thank yourself when your ears aren’t completely shot in the future also. Those who follow my posting know that I am an IEM advocate. There is no way that I would ever go back. Mr Zed - glad you are still living the dream!
We've certainly covered some ground,17 pages and still no confirmation on the db situation or a playful pun, shame.
We've covered some groundfish also. It seems like the biggest unanswered question right now... -

From start to fin, this thread has been stunning. It's still going too. :-) -
Yellow sponges - you'll have to play with the thickness depending upon the density of the sponge and how much damping you want.

If you buy a decent enough PA speaker, then yeah, I would take a PA rig over a bass rig any day for my rig. A decent top will run as good, if not better than an equivalent bass cab. Of course, it all depends you having the preamp of your choice in between your bass and PA cab(s) to get what you want. A PA cab loaded with speakers with 4" voice coils. Yup. Yes please. I've not got experience of the cab that you have posted... so in this particular instance, your mileage may vary.
