1. Is the humour going over your head?
2. Why? Does your Earhart?
3. You are probably Wright.
4. If you don't like it, the exits are here, here and here. Don't inflate your life jacket until you are clear.
5. That's just flighting talk!
6. He's just trying to add fuselage to the fire.
7.
But I imagine this gig wasn't meant to *fill* the whole hangar with loud music. A lot of the time you just want a band to be reasonably loud within a certain perimeter, but leave the venue open overall so that people can talk too... I suspect this is one of those gigs. Sometimes the band is not what people go to see, but a side entertainment.
For sure - get the dancefloor covered and you're good to go. This is JT though. Nobody puts JT's music in the corner.
8.
Of monitors and FOH levels. Did a gig the other night at a local venue in Glasgow -The Grand Ole Opry (yes really, we have one here.) It was the venue for a 14 night folky festival. Subs were 4 18" Logic boxes. Tops were Logic LS12, 4 at the front and 2 for rear fill. Monitors were a wall of logic wedges along the stage front. Beautiful levels on stage and the rear fills on FOH worked a treat. Wrapped in warm sound, but never too loud. Fancy Midas digital desk too.
Sounds like they just lifted the rig from the Tickled Trout for a fortnight.
9. I heard they hung up on him because all he did was drone on.
10. Gosh, this thread is really taking off.
11. It's so the band can get high with groupies post gig.
12. I'd spot those strides anywhere... If that's the front of house (speakers on boxes) that you think are suitable for a venue that size, you should have turned that one down too...
13.
A top rank 2x10 like the epi can hold its own in most situations I would say, this is a 500w rms cab with decent sensitivity were talking about.
Most situations... That's why I asked how loud the band was.
14.
I was hoping he'd rise to the challenge, I'm not after a bun fight! :-)
There's no knead for that comment.
15.
Did anyone go and see the windmill gig then? How did it go?
I would kick off the puns about windmills, but I'm not a big fan.
16. How loud a band are you? Trying to compete with a band with a single 2x10 may be a big ask...
17. One thing we can be sure of though - they are touring spec strides.
18. Nope - but there is a stadium sized video wall behind JT's head. And I can't work out if the guitarist has a small head or if it's just an optical illusion as he has no neck.
19.
I counted 4 - drummer has one too ;-)
The drummer really should have kicked off... I would want no less than a side fill. Floor monitor? Screw that.
20. RIP Sir Terry Wogan
21.
Why do you bother with a sound guy if you don't let him manage the sound? Great attitude, I bet you sound great
I want to hear this band too... Because I think I already know how they sound.
22.
I suppose if anyone is in Kent they could pop down and support JTUK tonight and hear the touring grade PA complete with more monitors than most at the Windmill? http://www.windmillinnashford.co.uk/event/grand-slam-jts-allstars/
I'm there.
23. What's an in house spec? Desk hired in where? Compliment the stock of the engineer? What? So s/he doesn't have to fund cab costs but has one available from you (at a price admittedly)if they happened to need it? Huh? Somebody's using you. DB still seems the runt of the litter in that list... Theatre?? What sort of theatre doesn't have a house sound system? Or are we talking small musical theatre groups that hire a church hall and small PA? Your posts make no sense.
24. PS, I think you are also mistaking DB for D&B, big difference...
