1.
It's not great, but then neither are the headstocks on Sadowsky's, Fodera's, D Lakin, G&L's and others ( all of which cost more as well).
Agreed. And thats why I have a problem with those brands too. PS - Add Alleva to the pile also.
2. I decided to give Bax Shop a whirl after being drawn by their very competitive prices. I'm currently building up a fairly comprehensive rack and must say, that the saving through Bax have been significant - much like how I remember Thomann being in days gone by. Everything has gone completely smoothly. I've ordered twice now - both on a Sunday night... both orders delivered by the following Wednesday morning. Now that's faster than Thomann fast. Big thumbs up from me.
3.
Maybe ones with fish on?!
4. the headstock though
5. Apparently 5ers too...
6. http://forum.music-group.com/showthread.php?6287-XR12-as-bass-preamp ;P I will get you to buy one.
7.
I've pulled that gig, the monitoring wasn't up to much
Ah man, that's a shame. They have a killer video screen too.
8. You just can't keep a good barefaced thread down.
9. Good work! Should blow their socks off at the Tickled Trout.
10.
Careful what you wish for, I said that yesterday as I got a bit of a scuff on my new TC RS112 the other day and said 'really I should get some covers'. My wife said 'Oh I will make you one' which is her normal answer - she makes hammocks for pets out of fleece, so I said, no thanks, I don't need a pink cupcake cover. Then later I went into the hall to get my stuff for the gig, and found this:
I've got 6 d&b audiotechnik monitors here. Do you think she could sort me out?
11.
But saying all that, after EBS_Freak's post I'd say four combos is the only logical option really :-)
The above is two combos, two extension cabs.
12. Why stop there?
13.
Mine's the Attitude Special, one of the cheaper ones but with upgrades, awesome.
Seth Rogan. Is that you?
14. Cable ties, adhesive cable clips, electrical insulation tape tape, gaffa tape...
15. No need to fear halibutting in!
16. Well, that's just another kettle of fish.
17. PS Hotcovers.
18. Racks are mansgeable but unless you are flying or putting your gear into a boarded out van (with loading ramp) go padded cases... Says the man with a flightcased Fender Twin. Even with a van, you've still got to get it into the venue... ...which no doubt has lots of stairs. Nobody needs flightcases to play The Tickled Trout.
19.
I used to play with an Ampeg 4x10 , but changed to a Barefaced 2x12 Never looked back. So light with an awesome sound!
20. Forgot to mention - the audio technica IEM system has a input on the receiver for a body worn ambient lapel mic.
21. You read my response to your question in the thread you started in this section?
22. He's on YouTube. Well, not the Allstars. His previous band.
23.
One of the things Russ has suggested to me in the past is to get a couple of small condensors setup either side of the stage and use these as "ambients" to get the crowd. These are only fed into the monitor mixes, NOT out front. We've yet to purchase a couple specifically for this task but have tried a spare dynamic on the front of the stage on a small boom where the vocalists are and it really helps liven the in-ear mix up and help get back some of the feel of the audience.
This. Mics is the way. The ACS Live system is great as long as SPL on stage is low. They tend to distort if there's lots of bass or just... a lot of noise.
24.
Another question for IEM users. Are ACS the only company to offer 'ambient mics' in their in-ears? The reason for my question is in wondering if anyone makes a headphone amp/mixer with stereo ambient mics actually installed in the kit. I suspect demand would be limited but I am intrigued anyway.
Sensaphonics There is a historic link between Sensaphonics and ACS but not now. The ACS tech is ahead of the Sensaphonics stuff.
