A power supply with isolated outputs would not show this problem. Its because you are reversing polarity on a daisy chain and I think you are running into ground problems. I don't know if it's really fair to call it a problem of the product (unless you consider the choice of polarity with regards to other fx pedals, flawed...?)

On a side note, the problem with RF congestion is getting worse. Where users are standing next to their receiver and not requiring a greater amount of transmission power, I'd like to see more manufactures add a 1mW switch to reduce the impact the system has on surrounding wifi devices. I've just read that Line6 has an option on their transmitter that reduces the power down to 3.3mW. The added bonus is that with less power, you can get more devices in the same RF spectrum without running inter modulation issues and of course, much longer battery life. If you aren't running about all over the place, I would highly recommend that you take the power down to avoid such problems in future. 10mW and even some devices which are transmitting at 30mW is just ludicrous to provision a couple of metres (if that) worth of wireless transmission.

[/quote] The reason he poo-pooed it is that he/she wanted to eliminate any risk (even if it could be fixed with a channel switch) to loss of control of the PA mix. Once bitten and all that. That kinda makes his need greater than going wireless - especially if he is using a console-less mixer.

[/quote] Yes - you should have said to the sound guy, get yourself a 5 GHz router. - It's because his wireless router will have been running on 2.4Ghz and your data streams were not playing nicely with his. You should have been able to switch channels though to avoid the problem.

What you got to remember, is that the great recorded tone that you are hearing, especially in modern recordings, have been eq and post processed to feck in the studio. It may be worth experimenting with some outboard if you are struggling to get a great core sound... it may be that your brain is hankering for something more processed. I know that there will be people going on about "pure tone" but at the end of the day, the resulting sound is the result of the component parts... so maybe book a day at a studio with a competent engineer to help craft your tone so you can figure out what you are looking to do to your core tone maybe?

Make sure the pad switch on the rear is set as -12dB and as stated above, make sure the aux send from your desk is not too hot. Single driver buds aren't the best either... I'd always recommend a quad with a dual low as a minimum. Theres a big thread in the Accessories forum started by Mojoke which is worth a read.

Crazy indeed. Hope you can get it sorted with an easy cone repair. I hate it when stuff like this goes wrong. With PA, backup support is one of my top priorities. Never had experience with JBL though. Good luck!

Check the board before you do anything though and drop JBL/Wembley a line about yout recone options. I hate to say it but there is an inherent problem with the power amps on these speakers - check the various DJ boards where there are plenty who moan about it.

Have you definitely isolated it to the speaker? These JBLs have three poweramps, one for each 15 and one for the HF driver. Are you sure that it's not an amp that is playing up? It may be as simple as a HT fuse... (Not that I know the internals of these cabs that well, it's just that I remember the three amps when I was looking at these cabs with view to purchase)

Heil are great. They seem quite marmite with sound engineers but I've had nothing but good results. Some mics just do it for you... Like a D6 on a kick. Love the dishonesty of that mic!
