Yankee PS-M2 Current doubler cable on 6-24v DC section. Should be able to power a whole host of your standard 9v devices also. Pricey kit though.

A 'u' is generally 19 inches wide (unless you get the 1/2 u things... which are a bit of a confusion as the u should refer to height... Anyway... 1u is 1.75inches tall, so 2u is (2x1.75) 3.5 inches tall... and equally, 4u is 7 inches tall.
What's the easiest set up to get a feed from a desk to use just for me as an IEM mix? Would it be the P1?
Yes. P1. It is a rip of the Fischer unit as Martin above implied. Its a lot cheaper than the Fischer offering and actually quite robust. Don't be put off by the Behringer name on it!
-
You seen the P16I/P16M combo? There's also the P1. Behringer seem to be really pushing the monitoring thing at the moment. Which is all good stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Aa6lJPa5FQ Check out the scratching on this. Probably better sense of timing than all of us... especially when he's scratching pitch and rhythm in sympathy with the original.

There's DJs and DJs. Go and and YouTube DJ Qbert and tell me that's a laptop.

I'm sure OBBM could knock you up something similar... I know he's done similar -
Yup, always my first choice. Waaaaaaay better than Roqsolid stuff that gets recomended on here
I think so. Have to say though, my d2f covers are amazing and still looking great after 500 odd gigs - but of course they need to be imported from the States. Made exactly to my spec with little extras (like velcro handle flap cover things. Excellent. But yeah, locally, hot covers are hard to beat.
-
Hot covers are absolutely superb. Will be ordering some more no doubt as the gear collection grows!

MoJoKe - good to see your in ears journey progressing. Knew you'd go customs in the end! To those reading the thread, you can save yourself the money by bypassing the middle stages! :-p The end game is inevitable!
Just got back from having moulds done by the Custom IEM company to get 1964 V6S. Fortunately for me I'm going to the states and will get V6S for less than you would get Quads for in this country and the same price as generic Shure 535s. It's amazing how much cheaper things are in the States if you're going there. Paul from Custom IEM's was great and really professional taking the moulds and 1964 have been great to deal with. Will be a nice arrival present when I get to the States!
Indeed - especially if you wait for the Black Friday deals that they have on. Congrats on your purchase!

A decent XLR is all you need. Speak to obbm on here - http://www.rock-wire.uk.com I'd also sack off your amp DI (just so FOH carries on even if your amp dies). Speak to orchid electronics - http://www.orchid-electronics.co.uk/classic_DI.htm

Simple Recording Option for Mac Devices or Standalone Unit?

I use a Tascam DR05 Barrie. The removeable SD card makes it the winner - no problems with ever fighting with space on your iPhone if it's loaded with videos, pics and music. Sound quality is immense too. As mentioned, can mount on a mic stand too. A very capable unit -
No disagreement with anyone who wants to do it on electric. Just expect to be everyone's last call guy.
Cottle seems to do alright without playing upright... But then again, with skills like his, people can turn a blind eye
There's a flautist using a set in Greece! The ultra low harmonic distortion makes is great for that sort of instrument. I'm not sure I agree that the market is saturated with products at this price point with this level of performance. It really is very high fidelity.
Flautist - nice. How is that set up then? Presumably there's some adapters going on to get to get the mic on the end of that jack? At that price point, (off top of my head) what we got? Audio Technica System 10 Sony DWZB30GB Line 6 G30 Alesis Guitarlink Behringer ULM stuff (coming soon) Joyo (err...) Intellitouch Freedom One Wi Audiolink Actually, looking at this - you are probably right and I'd say your main two worries are Line6 and Sony. Sony is a bit of an anomaly as they are only competitively priced at Thomann and not very well represented on the high street. The quality of your product looks to be good, especially when compared to those lower down in the list above. Realistically you are taking on the top 5 in that list and some of those are higher than your pricing point. -
I really like that the transmitter is small too. I mean, if you are slipping a small D Class head in to the front of a bass gig bag and carrying your cabinet in one hand, the last thing you want is a big wireless box to fit in the case too. I think this is a great little product and I suspect after taking it out for a proper spin it'll win me over. I'll get the low F# on it later
To me, the USP of this product is the size of the transmitter - the small receiver is nice too - but there are small receivers around (although I will admit I'm conceptually visualising how big it is rather than looking at any measurements) . I'm not actually aware of any small factor digital bug sized transmitters - so I'm hoping that whereas SH's initial product was geared towards guitarists/bassists, they develop it to hit the horn market. I strongly believe that's where the profit in this system is as the guitar market is somewhat saturated. Come on Chris, what's your thoughts? -

Nice to see you on here SmoothHoundChris! With a transmitter that small, hope you are gunning for the sax/trumpet/horn market? The dinkiest transmitter would be a right coo in that market! -
The new Line 6 kit is very new - the early reviews were awful with drop outs - but the firmware was knackered and it's been fixed and the newer reviews are very good. That being said - the new Stageclix unit operates in the 5.8GHz band for (apparently) less interference from routers etc. I love the idea of the Stageclix concept with a rechargeable transmitter that plugs into the receiver - but I also have experience with a 5.8GHz wifi router and it is sh*t. I'm in the market for a wireless, but they are so difficult to A/B properly!
Line6 kit remains the benchmark for this sector - I remember issues of the drop outs and indeed, the firmware seems to have fixed that. The 5ghz thing is a bit misleading - it's not that it's particularly better or worse than 2.4ghz, it's just that at the moment, there are less people running 5ghz routers. This is fast changing... and in some cases becoming worse because a lot of routes are putting out both 2.4ghz and 5ghz access points. 5ghz allows for greater transfer speed - but this isn't really an issue for us... the A/D conversion is the bottleneck, not the wireless transmission. The main real world difference in wireless point of view for us (where power transmission is comparable), is that 5ghz has a lesser range and is not as good at penetrating through obstacles, there is more change that a direct line of sight will be required to get the most out of your 5ghz connection. It depends what you want it to do... if you are standing right next to your amp, it shouldn't be a problem. Anything larger, the chances are you are playing bigger stages... and with bigger stages you'd probably be out of the prosumer products anyway. If you like the onboard recharging function, add the Shure GLXD to your list of stuff to try out. -
If you like listening to CDs, then you'll have no problems with IEMs. All in or nothing in this game. If you are relying on hearing the ambient sound bleeding through your IEMs and mixing that with whats being sent from your aux, you've already lost the game. The key approach is to control what goes into your mix... so if you want the audience, mic them.
Wow that looks very similar to the Stageclix but at a fraction of the price! If the latency isn't noticeable in a live setting this could be very good value! Does it have multiple frequencies you can switch between if you get interference from other wireless devices?
It does switch between frequencies. Still reckon this is the one to go for in this price range - http://www.thomann.de/gb/sony_dwz_b30gb_guitar_set.htm -
Why don't any of the digital wireless manufacturers offer a digital output on the receiver unit?
There is - usually Dante - but when you think think what these devices are being used for, e.g. plugging into an amp, there really aren't too many amps with digital inputs. I think the devices which output Dante are generally the units which are used for microphones, so it makes perfect sense to keep that particular signal in the digital domain from the word go. And if you are going to record into a computer, you may as well go from bass->cable->interface anyway.
