1. The Bond chord... And the chord that isn't a chord - The missing chord from Her Majesty at the end of Abbey Road.
2. Join the party at In Ear Monitors - help needed... for info!
3.
Oooh.. GLD Sadly I've never had the pleasure but I thumbed through the catalogue when they came out a few years back. I may have salivated a little as I thought it looked a far more slick and 'finished' in comparison to the iLive setup. I've had a look round the iLive (T112?) when I dealt with the support band for 'Fozzy' as their engineer used one (I was on an LS-9 at the time) but felt a little underwhelmed by the british product sadly..
They are lovely - certainly more user friendly than the LS9. I used it pretty much exclusively for a couple of years... and it's a really well thought out console. The only thing that I find is a bit of a shame is that you can't track to USB like the QU - you can only map a mixed output to it - e.g. L/R . For full track by track out, the Dante solution is super (although paying extra for the card is a bit of a bind!) - just plug the ethernet into your computer, load up reaper and hit record. Nice - but not quite as practical as a USB out. For quick mixes and recording on the move, I tend to just use my DL32R now, it's just a lot lighter and easier to lug around... - my GLD spends most it's time in the flightcase now.
4. Sounds interesting... How would you say the tracking compares to the original?
5. Ha! Seems like we were all typing!
6. OR if you need it to apply to anything... Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
7. Look for cracks at the back of the headstock - especially if there are bolted nuts... the thin nature of the volute (if it even exists), especially if coupled with bolts make for a vulnerable area.
8. The QU series of A&H records to onboard USB as stated above. I seem to recall it's limited to the first 18 tracks... But! - USB into your computer and you can get the track by track and L/R into your chosen DAW. For "traditional" digital I/O in A&H, then you are into the realm of the GLD with the expansion cards. Not cheap... but awesomely good - and they have dropped significantly in value since their first release so more affordable than ever.
9. Risk assessments are a nightmare... I'd send you the last one I did but haven't got it with me on my laptop. But this is the sort of thing they are looking for - http://www.fiddlersw...Assessments.pdf Just out of interest, is it the client asking for this or the ICC? I've played there and never had to do such things. Just make sure all your docs are in order and smile.
10. I've built two sizeable pedal rigs... I've sold two sizeable pedal rigs... It's something I have to do from time to time. I've only kept my MXR octave, MXR filter and Polytune (which I never use but seems to be a sensible pedal to have access to). I'll no doubt get on the next synth pedal band wagon... and then sell it again. In answer to the question... well, it's worth it if your music warrants it.
11. Depping with a scratch band... so I'm not entirely sure if that's even classed as a dep! Should be a good laugh - localish trendy bar...
12. Here's a nice looking option - http://www.shure.co...._receivers/p9hw - PSM900 pack without the wireless bit... Pretty expensive compared to the competition though I guess!
13.
Brighton - http://www.theacousticmusicco.co.uk/
Man, thats some proper acoustic porn there...
14.
There's a company on Ebay selling the Behringer at £50 with free delivery if you collect at Argos. Not a great deal but speedier and easier for me now they've shut my Post Office collection place down and I have to drive 6 miles out of town to get my missed parcels The LD does indeed look nice but a lack of buying options from the UK is stopping me pulling the trigger on one, although I am still debating it.
To be honest - don't think you'd go wrong with either... and you could always send it back to Thomann's (which I know is a bit of a B ache) if it wasn't what you wanted.
15.
It was a genuine chrome plated brass pickguard made by Kahler but sold as NOS by a guitar salvage guy on Ebay for £45. I didn't think much of it at the time but it sounds like I might have been super lucky?
Yeah - defo. Spent quite some time trying to source one. Similarly, those that said/advertised they could make one, wouldn't or couldn't. Guess they just want to shift large numbers, which lets face it, isn't probably going to happen regularly. The add a fair bit of heft to the weight too.
16. Nice tribute! Have you managed to source a genuine chrome plated brass pick guard? The only reason why I ask, is that they are aren't readily available... Fender apparently had the exact number made up for the CS release and no more. My friend has made his own Hitmaker (took a Nash guitar and had it refinished and relied) but couldn't source a genuine chrome plated brass pick guard. His solution? Well, he is a chrome plater by trade so he had the CAD made up, the brass cut and then chrome plated a number of them, 11 holes (like Niles) and 8 holes - properly countersunk. If you are interested in getting his details to get one (if yours isn't brass), hit me up with a PM. Similarly, if you have got a brass guard that is chromed, where did you get it from? You can get plenty of chromed pick guards - but not brass - and I'd be intrigued to see where you got it from.
17.
Thanks for pointing me to this thread EBS, I'm thinking about dipping my toe in the IEM world with a Behringer P1 and some off the shelf buds and it's good to hear the P1 is one of the decent Brehringer products. I was torn between that and the LD HPA1 but they seem very hard to get hold of without going via Thomann.
The Behringer is in the same situ - Thomann seem to be the place for everything like this. I wasn't aware of that LD system - cheers for that. I actually really like the look of the LD system over the Behringer one. Shall have to hunt one down to test out!
18. If you think thats bad... have you seen the 60th anniversary efforts?
19.
How does that work anyway? The German Hofners are still handmade, always have been, which is why they're so dear to start with. How do you then charge a premium price for a handmade Custom Shop version?
Because the spec of this (paint job by the looks of things) has been done by Hofner and is not the norm offering. There would be the prepping of the paintshop to do this colour as it's not the normal burst... But agreed, pretty rank.

21.
It didn't sell..
Too heavy. Too big.
22. Damn you Charic. My mouse is hovering over the buy it button. Grr...
23.
They've done a wonderful job, especially considering the time constraints they had. I've been informed that after a while it'll need a bit more polishing, as it's still a touch soft at the moment, so I'm being very delicate and leaving it out as much as I can to let it settle. I've got a Peli case arriving for it tomorrow too, so when I take it to America with me in just under a couple of weeks, at least I'll be safe in the knowledge that I've at least done everything I can to protect it!
Think you made a good choice to have it finished. They are right - the finish will sink over time (and give a rippled finish) so it will need to be flattened and repolished. No biggie. Enjoy - it looks great.
24.
Hmmm... I wonder if I could make it work for my symphonic metal band?!
Maybe if you look like this -
25.
I was thinking under normal clothes
Ha I could imagine wearing one of those under (or over) standard function clothes. Reckon you'd get some odd looks. If you were some cool futurist tech band, reckon it would add to the overall look. I kinda really want one. Couldn't see me using it live... But then again, who cares what people think. Actually... I could wear some really tasteless trousers... they'd spend more time looking at those then the subpac then!
