1. When it comes to acrylic instruments, this has to be the best thread on the net... grab a cuppa. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/2011-tdpri-tele-build-challenge/263778-scatter-lees-2011-tdpri-build-challenge-thread.html
2. Never had any problems with Thomann - I've had more problems with the UK based companies than I have with Thomann (which is zero). What's this about Germans and efficiency?
3. 745 certainly a step up from the 725. In fact, I think that RCF have killed off the 725 now and presumably pushing the 745. Bass response is good too - in fact, I reckon most DJs could go out with a pair of these and not bother with a sub. Hmm... maybe I should make a bass rig out of these...
4.
For the 12" & 15" units, the 7 series blows the 3 series away hugely
You heard the 745? Quite remarkable for a plastic box!
5. I think the RCFs will see you ok. 10s aren't my favourite but given the fact you are looking for lightweight and portable and only using for vocals, I think it's a sensible compromise. To put your mind at rest, I've never thought as RCF as particularly harsh - I consider them fairly well rounded and surprisingly good in the bass response, considering that ART stuff is in plastic boxes.
6. Talking of Attenuators, I found the only ones I liked were these- http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm
7.
Luckily enough I feel the same way about Jaco as some Basschatters feel about Barefaced cabs.
Has Jaco got a sh*t logo too?
8. Budget?
9. Nobody want to spend their Christmas money?
10.
Bose are portable but pricey but sound fantastic.........
But are crap for a full band situation.
11. Spotify is your friend. Esp if you have wifi and need to find requests.
12. You are only likely to be able to shave off a couple of kgs at most. Test your Mackies against some RCFs out of the 700 series... A couple of kg lighter than the Mackies but is be surprised if you didn't notice the difference.
13. To avoid going over the same ground again... Just read this thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/205633-in-ear-monitors-help-needed/
14.
Depends how many mixes your desk has... and since most bands desk are pretty basic, then I am not sure what use you expect IEM to be.
*shakes head*
15.
I think the logo looks great. I guess there always has to be something, right?
Not at all. Logo - Just a bit 80s for my liking.
16. Wow, first BF cab I've seen that doesn't look like it's been knocked up out of parts from Tandys. Classy looks. Now... About that logo.
17. The 350 is my fave head of all time. Not too heavy, powerful and sounds sublime to my ears. It has always been, in my humble option of course, the best amp that they have ever produced. I ended up leaving my 650 at home as I came to realise that my 350 actually had the edge. There's something about big transformers that class D doesn't nail for me. (Apart from the weight! - not that the 350 is heavy!)
18. The previous amp to my EBS was trace... You see, I would say they sound nothing alike!
19.
it doesn't have to be loud... but feeling that air moving behind you is really nice
Get a fan!
20. Micro DI no brainer
21. What do you mean Pete? What about Dek? :-p
22. If you are sending to desk, you may aswell just use a DI as all the tone shaping should be done of the desk to accommodate the needs of the room/performance of the PA.
23. I play though some JH Audio Roxannes so have incredible amounts of bass on tap and a PSM900 - gives me an incredible sound, especially as I get my stereo feed from a digital desk giving me all the control I need over eq, compression and fx etc. The important thing is to have either enough open mics or ambient mics to give you the feeling of being in the mix as opposed to listening to a CD. I never really had that feeling of moving air as I never stand that close to my amp. When playing through large PA with multiple subs, you can feel bass but it's something that I don't feel that I need. I know tecamp do the pleasure board (at least I think that is what it's called) but the idea for me is to carry less, not more!
24. Tonyf - need you to gig on my sennheiser and shure units so we get an idea where these lds sit! Next gig I can get to, you can try!
