1.
Then save them for making guitars (or if they are too small for even that then don't buy them in the first place).
No. Shalln't.
 2. Of course, with regards to the top facing covering a whole top depends on what would you have available. Some of the fanciest wood for instrument tops aren't big enough to book match and cover the whole bass.
 3. Did the 112 ever make it to market?
 4. [sub]Hiscox are the business.[/sub]
 5.
John Hall is a pig. I prefer to think of the factory workers and CNC machines when I enjoy my 4003 and keep that arrogant asshat from my thoughts as much as possible.
Careful man, you may get accused of a personal attack on JH!
 6. Try giving Bernie Goodfellow a shout at GB Guitars (ex distributor for EBS) - he may have an original Fafner that he could give you a deal on... maybe he'll send you one on approval or whatever. I don't know. Give him a shout and see what the score is.
 7. Got to love a Fafner Completely different beast to the RH750. Have you seen the HD350 profile for your Kemper? Can't comment on how good it is but I did notice that it had been profiled by somebody.
 8.
Our band suffers from getting a decent sound in the rehearsal room and a recent experience of recording ourselves has led us to consider setting up in a similar way for all rehearsals and gigs, using headphones initially in rehearsal and then perhaps using wired earphones for gigs (so we don't look totally disconnected from our audience). Looking at headphone amplifiers we realise that generally you get one mix, if being fed from a basic mixer, though with aux in's it is possible to personalise a mix a little. Plusses include the protection of hearing, getting a really good quality foldback, hearing everything that's going on, and getting a good recording too. Not sure about the disadvantages except the extra hassle of setting up. However it could mean rehearsing without needing to use PA which is a plus in terms of time spent setting up and adjusting. Our plan would, in time, be to move to an 'in ear monitor' wireless system, but at present that seems a bit of a jump and an expensive one. Would really appreciate your comments, ideas, or similar experiences. Cheers, Paul.
This thread that a few of us have been contributing to is probably worth a read - http://basschat.co.u...rs-help-needed/ Have to echo the points above though - I would guess you need to turn down at rehearsals.
 9. [sup]Mark has always been OK with me too- just to clarify![/sup]
 10.
I had a horrible experience there. The shop is run by someone with the manner of an uptight prefect. He refused to let me try out basses because 'they were too expensive' said I was 'wasting my time' because I wanted to try out an amp but hadn't brought my bass. When I mentioned I was still using an old H/H amp he looked down his nose at me and obviously didn't consider me a proper customer. I was en route from Wales to London and diverted to pay a visit. Never again.
Yeah, put your cheapo Wal back in your case you!
 11.
If I saved enough for a Rick I'd go custom build...
...and build a Rickenbacker clone. It'd probably be better too!
 12.
Doesn't seem to turn up on google searches
It won't immediately.
 13.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding.. I can see Dave Vader's signature when I'm browsing but not logged in. Surely the robots would too?
Ooh, you are quite right. In that case... yeah, go for it. (It's usually the case when not logged onto a forum the signatures are hidden... I was convinced this was the case with BC. Obviously not or it has changed...?)
 14. Changing your signature is futile - the robots indexing the sites are not logged in when they do so. You have to be logged in for the signatures to be visible...
 15.
Well, option 1 is a no goer, neither Sennheiser or their UK spares folks have got capsules to replace mine with so that mic needs junking The upside is I get to do some mic shopping when I scrape some cash together! Heil here I come
Speak to the guys at mics direct - they are great. Got me everything I needed by courier before 9am the next day. Top Gear. Top service. And the free XLR is actually a decent Proel one (so take that into account when looking at overall mic pricings)
 16. Whats wrong with that? It's a Rickenbacker replacement bridge. I don't think they are pretending that it's a genuine made by Rickenbacker bridge (I'm guessing that RIC don't make it directly anyway) - it wouldn't be in Hipshot's interest to anyway, afterall, they want to build their own Hipshot brand. They even acknowledge the RIC trademark... You have to be a right thicko to think that is anyway a genuine Rickenbacker product. It doesn't even look like the original RIC bridge.
 17. It's all about the slide guitar.
 18.
Did he?! What a *****. I have one of those Hipshot bridges on my home build, it's a great piece of design.
Shocking! The idea of making aftermarket replacements is not illegal is it? If so, the car industry and it's compatible spares market is foobarred. Who is buying Rics anyway?
 19. Just been looking through these... any more?
 20.
45p per mile is what HMRC allow as the cost of running a car (for the first 10,000 miles), so that would seem a reasonable starting point. Hard to argue with HMRC http://www.hmrc.gov....ates/travel.htm
Do that and watch how many booking you don't get...
 21. When is Mark Phillips gonna start butchering Rickies?
 22.
If we decide to allow Rickenbacker content, it might be wise to mark every for sale thread title along this kind of template: For Sale: Fender Jazz Bass (NOT A RICKENBACKER COPY) That way we are making our position very clear - and any Google search on our website would show that we are not selling a RICKENBACKER COPY and there would not be any confusion or waste of time by anyone.
I like your thinking....
