2. This may help - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/72529-string-wrap-colours/
 3.
...
PMSL!
 4.
And a decent person to talk to aswell
It's just like... he's your mate? You know, Dave, not Dave off the tele?
 5. Line6. Jeez. And why is it, in the age of 1080p, are CCTV images still so shockingly bad...?
 6. It's always a worry... having done shows, it's the unwritten law that you know everything is going to be as you left it in the morning... but there is always that worry in your head until you get back to the stand and see everything in place. Tough times, hope they find it and the f*cker who touched it. To get something out of Messe is quite a mission... and this sounds like it could have been somebody who should have been in the circle of trust :/
 7. Bass strings
 8.
They seem fine, I carry my own of course
Same - Orchid Electronics for me. Best I've found for the money.
 9.
I'd play through any old sh*t as long as there is a buffet
Bang on. Talking of which... bring on the pie. I can't wait...
 10.
I usually see Behringer DI boxes at gigs, I see them everywhere, nowt wrong with them.
Its cos they cheap and get the job done. Lets face it, spending alot of money on a DI seems quite a dull thing to do, especially when live, it's hard to appreciate the difference between a good DI and a poor DI.
 11. I like the quirk of it. Would have to have a lick of paint on it if I had one though. I like it... Very Prince.
 12. Joebass - that was sublime. Going to take a look at that, it's defo on my list of stuff to have a go at!
 13.
No I didn't So I could get a 5 knob pre that I like and replace the Volume and Balance pot with one stacked pot?
Correct.
 14.
I'm on the look out for a pre amp for a bass I'm having built and I've been looking at lots of options including not bothering and just having it passive, if I do go down the pre amp route I'd really like a 4 pot system with separate Bass, Mid & Treble pots and a stacked Vol/Bal or Vol/Vol but most of the pre's I've looked at don't come in that configuration, anyone know why that would be? Feel free to point me in the right direction if I've missed something that fits the bill. Cheers
You do realise that you can combine pots onto a stacked pot if it doesn't fit your wanted configuration (assuming the values on the stock pots are the same as the stacked)?
 15. Fieldy from Korn... Not my type of music but bleugh anyway.
 16. Its all about the A&H QU-16 this year For me at least...
 17. Ashdown... oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
 18.
I suspected it might be something like this......or worse
I'm guessing that it will be on the old public channel meaning that it's now illegal for use. In reality, nothing will happen if you use it... it's more if you get caught using it. The penalty is a hefty fine and in some circumstances, you could be arrested for it. It's a VHF system right? Old school!
 19.
I've used a few cheaper systems over the years and even then you dont really lose anything that cant be eq'd back in at the amp end.
Eeek, ick, ick, ick!
 20.
I used to use a Samson Concert 4, my band had a coupleof songs in low A and I never had a problem. Ive still got it, and would love to be able to use it, but i dont think I can, is that right? What would happen if I did?
You'd explode at the speed of light!
 21.
I have used a Samson Airline (bass version) and have had no problem with the lower frequencies. In fact I'm pretty sure I used it in a band where we were doing one tune in drop D, again the signal came through fine. Not currently in use in my present band though that may change in future.
There is only so much bandwidth available - I'm wondering if the bass version shifts the compounder from being biased on the bass side to be being biased on the top end - hence a distinct treble roll off?
 22. Anything digital over the public band is going to see you OK in terms of quality (compounder free for maximum freq response) - Line6, Sony DWZ (My fave in this category - priced in between the G30 (e.g. 50 quid more) and G50 but far superior transmitter build quality), StageClix... (Basically these work in the same domain as wi-fi so if wi-fi is legal, so is your wireless). Shure ULX-D is the ultimate but requires a license as it's typically working over channel 38. I have both the ULX-D and the Sony DWZ and I have to say the Sony sound quality and latency is identical although to be fair, the Shure also has encryption which the Sony DWZB30GB doesn't. Having said that, you can pay a bit more and get the mic lapel system and get encryption with the Sony stuff also... although thats still on the public band - which may or may not suit you. Analogue systems will generally be not so good for bass due to the presence of a compounder and roll off on the frequency response.
 23. Now you're just looking for problems. What happened to head and 410 cab?
