1. This iPod remote malarky really is the business. Can't wait to get my desk wired up for it!
2.
It came a close second to a £5k GB Rumour but according to a 'second Opinion' was the best bass of choice/use.
Ah yes, I remember that particularly sh*te bit of journalism. Since when was there a second opinion ever in BGM? Anyway, this Nordstrand is a tasty piece of kit...
3. Aren't they the hideously ungig friendly covered cabs that would stain dead easy and rip if you breathed on them? Looked ace brand new but they are defo for the flightcase users amongst us.
4. A&H GLD80, A&H Zed 16, DB tops, RCF bins. Big smiles.
5. Nice choice. Aggie edges it for me too.
6. Hiscox are great - I've been a couple of times to their place to have broken feet replaced etc and everytime they pimp the case to the latest spec. Unbelievably good customer service.

Status
The status pickups were £51 and the sound from status basses is pretty clear. So, I guess more clarity and £51 is not a bad price. **I was trying to stay with passive electronics....!
The Status sound is more to do with the construction and electronics than the pickups.
8. On some desks, there will be a pad button which will put -20dB cut to the signal before it hits the desks pres. If your soundguy doesn't engage brain or doesn't have this facility available to him/her, there is another solution. I also have amps with hot DIs, my solution? An inline -20dB attenuator, easy to make, easier to buy off eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XLR-BALANCED-ATTENUATOR-IN-LINE-VOLUME-20dB-/190680441716?pt=UK_MusicalInstruments_Other_Pro_Audio_Equipment&hash=item2c6570a374 Probably worth getting a short XLR to run from your amp to your attenuator and then the soundguy can plug into the otherend of the attenuator. Having the attenuator sticking straight out of your amp is asking for it to be knocked... Hope this helps.
9.
I keep getting compliments over my batman bass. They will stop if i take the batman sticker off from over the harley benton logo.
Ace!! Pics please?
10. Get the rewound as stated above.
11. If I see a guitarist with a PRS and MesaBoogie, I tend to roll my eyes in disgust. There goes somebody who has gone into their average high street music shop and bought the most expensive stuff they had... and convinced themselves it sounded good.
12.
My real name is Rob Slusar, which is so totally not cool, unless i had a stage name
Bob Sluzarre. Now that's cool.
13. So the Standards haven't got the Fodera custom pre in?? Doesn't that kinda negate the reason for getting a Fodera? It's like getting a Wal without the Wal electronics!
14. I was proper gearstalked at the weekend... the guy had watched the set whilst googling everything on stage so he could be informed when he engaged me in conversation. Scary stuff. Thread resurrection - I remembered reading this thread first time round and just reread it. Got to love a good gearstalker!
15. Which Fodera? I know not of any Fodera made with a Flexcore preamp?
16. I always think as soon as a bass becomes active, the wood has less of a role in the tone of the bass. I remember Bernie Goodfellow saying to me, "I could put my circuit and pickups in that table over there, string it up and it sound like a GB. It'd be a right b4stard to play though."
17.
I'm surpised that the overseer or the experienced luthier didn't go for pickups which were at least similar dimensions to the originals so the body didn't need significant modification.
Probably customer chosen pickups.
18. Walkabout should be quaking
19. Leaving the poly is on is good as taking it down to the wood means you have the hassle of resealing and the like...
20.
£700 is about right mate. We typically charge £1,000+ for the lot. They just need to be aware it includes a 2-3 hour show, D.J after (Ipod with spottily...) full P.A, Sound Engineer and sometimes lights. Bargain for £700-£1,000 if you ask me.
+1 Also, the loading times (in and out), the travelling time and the inevitable waiting around. There are plenty of wedding gigs that want you to set up early so it doesn't interupt the day... but don't think about you occupying yourself for hours until you actually go on stage. Factor in the cost of the PA, the lights, the repairs and upkeep of all your equipment, rehearsal time, the talent's time itself... at £700 quid, you are probably on less than minimum wage when talking about the average function/wedding gig. And then there is the fact that you have to deal with 4rsehole hotel managers who think they are the business. Don't get me started...
21. How about getting a new neck made for whatever bass in you sig...?
22. Brutal.
23.
Chuck Norris carries their gear to every gig for them. By himself... on foot
on one foot.
24.
Yeah one of those m,assive Mercedes things, its very very splendid indeed. And yes they are all doing all right for themselves. They did a gig for the British Embassy in the Lebanon, flown out and back business class etc etc, the letter of thank you from the Embassy makes for a great testimonial on the band web page
Ooh. Sprinter? Split cab? Business Class. Cool. Good to see money being spent wisely.
25.
Depends on whether or no tthey need the feature set. I know a band with a 20K rig and a Midas Pro 1. Just saying....
Have they got a van?
