I will put up some graphs later
Cheers.

Who do you think you are Pete? Some sort of expert?

Disney too...

PS - sack that singer off.

I used to suffer with that - I could never get my head around things like playing the riff to Daytripper and singing at the same time. All it takes is some training. Get something like "Transcribe!" and take a track you know on bass and would like to sing. Slow it down real slow and really focus on where the words land in relation to where the bass notes are. After a while, you gain the independence you need between your voice and your hands. It will become second nature. Stick with it - one day the switch will flick where your vocals and bass will seperate. It used to be a nightmare - even talking to the drummer midset, my playing would drag to the rhythm I was speaking in! All good now though.

What I'd really like for Christmas
In a similar vein, I keep finding myself lusting after the Sheryl Crow Telecaster...
Oh yeah! Same here. Its immense. -
Good stuff

...but I'll have the jacks

Not interested in the cable...

[sup]First up, check your screening. Are you cavities lined with copper or painted with shielding paint? I hate to admit it, I had some Nordstand pickups coupled with an Audere preamp and the thing was noisy as hell. Calmed it down with a super shielding job... but I was never 100% happy.[/sup]

Not suggesting there wasn't a change because I do believe there is a change after running your speakers in... but maybe your ears got used to them over time?
I think the REAL question is, which is best? 1. Mark King playing fingerstyle on a maple-boarded ash-bodied Ray through a 100 watt all-valve amp into a broken-in BF Super 12, or 2. Flea playing slap on a rosewood-boarded modulus through a 300 watt class D head into a fresh Baer ML-212.
Neither
The time people are spending breaking in cabs could be spent eating a pie, practicing a tricky riff or picking their nose all of which I have probably done whilst my new cabs sit dormant waiting for their first gig
The shame of the audience shouting out "sh1ttonePete1977" didn't get you down? Ah that's right. It's because you were going through the PA. Shame on that soundguy not breaking in his PA cabs.
Just replied to your email, it's amongst the large pile I've been working my way through. I'm not sure what you're paranoid about, we only have your deposit and that would barely pay for the crossover components?!!
I don't get this thinking. Irrespective of what it would pay for, a deposit is still a deposit and still money which has been paid out...? Anyway, as you all were.
Maybe we should have a winter rig made of old worn out cabs?
Wrap them in blankets... or just get some Ashdown cabs for a similar tone. Mind you, being Ashdown, they will probably catch fire... hang on... self temperature regulating cabs! They may well just be on to something there!
90% of people pay for the name badge and nothing else. No point in investing money in the rest as a big player. The small players just advise some break in tones on their website to cover those who work with their ears. I got mine broken in by renting them as backline for a local festival.
I hope it was at room temperature.
Break in takes time, time is money.
Agreed. But if it was really critical, it would be par for the course. This thread is interesting. I've learn I also need to change my band's contract. "We refuse to play at any other temperature apart from 20°C as any variance in temperature may lead to substandard speaker performance." Those buskers must be f**ked this time of year.
Both drivers were fresh, they're handmade samples - to quote the transducer designer we've been working with: "The first samples were measured when it was about 18 deg C outside; the second ones at 8-9 deg C. Things stiffen up a bit from lower temps and always give you a touch more extension on the top end. They’re built with the same parts, though…" But it shows that it's not as simple as anyone claims! I remember an incident on talkbass when someone was arguing about something tone related regarding bass cabs - it went on for a while and his opinion seemed like it should carry some weight, seeing as he was an experienced professional bassist. Then he mentioned that his hearing was completely screwed, to the point that even his hearing aids in it was way off how it had been in his youth, due to years of high SPL damage. He didn't seem to get the irony that he was being very forceful with his opinions on how something sounded yet he didn't have the sensory perception to analyse the sound accurately - like if I commented on David Hockney's massive recent exhibition without my glasses on. I know of countless cabs that have been delivered unboxed, straight to the stage or the recording studio without any running in. I myself delivered some cabs to Tal when she was with Jeff Beck and those cabs were unwrapped infront of her. She didn't seem to care. Whilst the science may hold true, the reality is that I don't think the average (or not so average) end user really cares. If it was that critical, I would imagine that the driver manufacturer themselves, or at least the cab manufacturer would do the running in for you... afterall, you only get to make a first impression about a cab once. If the cab does sound noticably different, then it would be worth the aforementioned third parties time to do something about it. Just a thought.

In my experience, when things like this happen, if it's out of warranty, hit up eBay. Even if you find a cosmetically challenged pedal, you can always lift the internals and put in your existing case. Digital pedals generally have the boards thrown and replaced with new ones... it's all down to whether you are ripped on the replacement board and postage costs to see if it's worthwhile. And don't be surprised if the parts are being sourced from the States (Not had experience with Line 6 directly so they may keep a set of spares in the UK, or then again, they may just concentrate on retail). Either way, good luck!

Are Stingrays the new Warwicks, price wise?
