1.
Just two little niggles at the moment for me but it's not the Reidmar's fault, the damn thing keeps vibrating almost off the cabs when the bass is being pushed. Anyone got any tips for this?
Blu-tac. Serious. (Guys with fur cabinets... don't try this - but its ok on the tolex covered Classic cabs)
2. The little 1x10 and 1x12 neo boxes just don't work imo - as born to be loud mentioned, fart city.
3. Getting a luthier to reprofile/skim the neck is a good option - especially as modern musicman necks are not lacquered - should make for a cheap job as the finish is down to fine grit sandpaper as opposed to a polyester top coat. Take a neck that you do like the feel of and any luthier worth their salt should sort you out no problem.
4.
I played this at BassGear last week:
If you aren't on commission already... you should be.
5.
I don't care. Every post from EBS is a moment of joy in an otherwise putrid modern hell, just so long as he doesn't change his avatar.
I'm not looking so good at the moment... my butt has gone a bit saggy and I'm carrying a little excess weight. Rather than update my avatar, I'll be heading for the gym. The bikini still fits though.
6. Oh my God. How can you kill this song's groove to this extent? Bass player needs shooting. And the singer needs to stick to the melody. Just as well it fades right?
7. [sup]Can't go wrong with either.[/sup] [sup]Xotic is more pricey but in my opinion doesn't offer anything playability wise over the Clover. Both sound great but the Xotic has a far more versatile preamp than the Clover range. Having said that, many may find the tweakibility a bit cumbersome compared to the simplicity of the Clover. Presumably you are looking at the Aperion range if you are comparing to the Xotics?[/sup]
8. If it's polyester you may as well leave it on - it's the best sealer there is and you won't have any paint sinking...
9. When you say this has had an extra tone knob... does this mean the body has been drilled for a jack socket?
10. Maybe... not too sure... http://www.watkinsgu...o.uk/basses.htm
11.
What are the Procells like? Seems like the price is to good to be true!
Really crap. Really, really crap. That's why everybody is recommending them.
12.
The Proline series muddy your sound too much,
What a load of tosh. PS Sack off the single 12s. Replace with a 2x12 cabinet. Two EBS single 12s do not equal an EBS 2x12 cab. The 2x12 is awesome cab, the single 12s are average at best and will fart out if you try and get any serious volume out of them. The boxes are just not big enough.
13.
Theres a neat little feature on my Audere preamp that runs a test each time you plug a jack lead into the input. A very sexy blue light on the control plate flashes in special sequences to provide an estimate of how strong the battery signal is.
You see, whilst I think that this is a good idea in seeing if your batteries are good, I don't think its good that it mutes the preamp whilst it does this test... (think stepped on leads etc...)
14. Energizer LA522 - and change your batteries once in a blue moon... (just make sure the dimensions fit your bass - as stated by other people. Not all 9v batteries are the same size... somewhat oddly...) Failing that, I use Procells. Bulk buy.
15. Change one of the cabs to match. IE buy 2 1x15s or 2 4x10 (what would be my preference). I take it you like MarkBass then...?
16. Tis a beaut. Remember seeing these facings... Certainly looks great.
17. I don't know if you guys can remember this - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qAkazRtFRwoJ:forum.warwick.de/10-warwick-bass/5056-80s-warwick-thumb-6-s-n-c003.html+warwick.de+forum+6+string+forum+003&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
18. OOhhh. When did this one get fitted with LEDs? And are the LEDs powered off the preamp batteries?
19.
Basschat and proud!
You threw the towel in on the lasagne business then?
20. Yamaha BBNE2. Loved it. But in reality, I wouldn't play. I just miss looking at it
21.
Actually Nick asked me to do that around the same time he last posted here but I just forgot about it until now!! Cheers
Ah... you work for ibassmag too?
22. This is the problem with media. There are those that can... and those that enjoy playing at it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVmmYMwFj1I People have paid money. You deliver the goods. Simple. Otherwise, you're just a crook. So lets get this right, can't reply to a thread but can converse with ped. Hmm... I'd give up now. Tarnished beyond recovery I reckon.
23. Indeed - you are pushing towards a Neve 8801...
24.
All this talk of valuable basses .. makes me wonder what Macca's original Hofner would fetch
God knows where it is. It was nicked.
25. Indeed. As dood says. In fact, I know an engineer who insists you record straight into the desk... and then if you want any "amp" stuff going on, he'll take a feed out from the recording to an amp on playback and record the resulting sound from cabs, other pres etc post the playing... It's very difficult to equate a recording to a particular setup... especially post mastering.
