2.
Sorry, don't get that one???
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=142240
 3.
Part of the fun of having different instruments for me is the different look and feel each one gives me.
I think that was Adam Clayton's thinking at Glastonbury... except I think the only thing that changed on his were the paintjobs.
 4. Do you play for Ceelo Green by any chance?
 5. Just out of curiosity... what pickups are in there?
 6.
Anyone got any idea how much the original Yamaha TRB5 MK1's were when new...expensive? What do you think of these basses..
Let me guess, you watched the Dirty Loops vids and now you have TRB gas?
 7.
Just curious really.
I know of a guy who sold all his basses and pretty much uses just his Variax bass. He admitted himself that it's not an exact replica of everything. But good enough. Seems like that spoils the fun to me. I've never really dug the Variax shapes (bass or guitar) to be honest but have spent many hours looking at people's projects shoehorning the electronics into something more pleasing.
 8. Could be worse. You could have hairy gums.
 9. Quite surprised that the bass is quite tame looking compared to his normal efforts! A great achievement all the same. Good on Herr Ritter! But to echo Steve-Soar, it's a shame that the preamp and pickups aren't as "revolutionary" as his designs. Same old stuff albeit in a different shell.
 10.
We always have clothes on hand for deps, including the infamous Expresso Bongo "dep's trousers". Now those really ARE eye-watering.
Actually, that sounds like enough to put any dep off!
 11.
Oh yes indeed. Gigged with the great man just last month, too. How do you know him - ex teacher of yours perhaps?
Yeah - isn't he everybody's ex-teacher? If you ever need a dep - mind you, I would have to buy some suitable attire!
 12.
Sorry LOL wrong forum ----> Click here for instant gratification
He he...!
 13. Feck - just clocked your band. Were you around in the era of Amadeus Proverbs...!?
 14.
Harumph. I've done a few Harmony Central reviews, and used them to find out about things I was interested in. I tend to discount the illiterate, the wildly enthusiastic, the irrationally negative, and those where the reviewer proudly proclaims his six months of experience, and carefully read the remaining review, which is generally very helpful.
You found the two or three generally helpful reviews then? (said with tongue firmly in cheek)
 15.
Don't think I'm the only owner in the UK, certainly not in Europe as loads of people wanted to order right there and then at Frankfurt.
Possibly not - but wanting to order and actually ordering are two different things. I've done these tradeshows. I know the reality.
 16.
This is where sites like harmony-central (and our very own BC though the reviews section could do with being more active) come into their own.
Seriously? Harmony Central reviews are the biggest load of gutter trash out there. Full of kids proclaiming that their latest toy is the best thing ever... 10 across the board... or they've done a review on their dads archtop and slated it "because it's sh1t for metal". C'mon, we've all seen them. The problem is, with the internet, everybody is an expert.
 17.
because I think many "boutique" basses are overpriced for what they are.
Says the man with the custom shop Warwick?
 18.
I never said who it was .
I know you didn't - no needed. I did because he is the only person I know of that both reviews and holds any endorsements. There is a significant difference in terminology though... one that endorses, or one that is endorsed. Two different things. GB hasn't endorsed Stuart... If Stuart wants to recommend GB, then he endorses GB. He isn't paid to use GB - Bernie couldn't afford it anyway. Using that logic, I also endorse GB. Furthermore, with regard to that particular review, it was not without negative comment. The thing is, the two main reviewers at the time of that review being published, Stu and Mike, both play GB basses. They both have more than 1 GB (Stu 2 and Mike 3 I believe). Both have a nice selection of non GB basses. They have played loads of basses and have chosen to buy GB. Kinda speaks more volume than any review. Anyway, it's a bit of a ridiculous statement for you to make... loads of people own Fenders... does that mean nobody can review a Fender?
 19.
Amusing to me was a BGM article where a bass was reviewed by one of the brands endorsing players. Unsurprisingly not a bad word was said against it, nor a declaration of authors links to the brand.
Who at BGM is endorsed? Hasn't Stu Clayton just got an endorsement from Zon.. and maybe TC? Not sure about any of the others?
 20. The equipment list for the bass bashes remind me of the wall in "Gone in 60 Seconds". Bass exotica. Is there a way of only making the posts visible by UV light?
 21. Still pleased... yeah, they are doing the business. Things are soooo much easier now. It's amazing what a decent pair of speakers has made - should get better as the speakers are worn in a bit too... and as a bonus, they match the wood of the piano
 22. I bought some Tannoy Mercury bookshelves today and they are just the ticket. Everything seems to have suddenly become crystal clear... even stuff streamed via YouTube. Happy, happy happy! Just got work through these 50 odd tracks now...
