  1. Whats the battery? I would wager its something readily available, so source your own... get the board, source your own battery, job done.
  2. Guitarists tend to have a muting tuner in their chain.
  3. (and the amount of time I go into the kitchen, that's a lot of practice)
  4. Playing spoons. That's where its at. Every time I go into the kitchen... quick practice.
  5. Crazy isn't it? My most successful band was a unit of people all working towards a common goal. Hence we had a packed diary, had many gigs abroad - and got to experience all the high points without too many of the low points. My current band want what my other band want - but expect me to magic it out of a hat for them. Considering we have been in a number of lockdowns, we could have worked on material, got loads of promotional packs built... but there's always the enthusiasm - but never the action. Talking is easier than doing. The funny thing is, I started dong online collaborations with people that I knew would get stuff done... and they did. And then of course, the band all got 4rsey with me. So I said fine, lets get a track together then... and here we are, still waiting. That was 9 months a go now. Some people will always lack drive... but want it all.
  6. Me being in a band where only I made the effort, as good as the band is musician wise, its taken lockdown to realise how emotionally draining it all is. Probably a big factor in me not doing much too. Most musicians are inherently lazy, don't live in the real world - and thinks the world owes them a living. Minimum input, maximise take.
  7. Im in training for Elon's Mars mission.
  8. In 5 weeks time I haven't left the house for a year. I don't bump into anybody it would seem.
  9. Indeed. That's why I said I think it's a case by case basis as everybody's motivation is different. For a lot of people, achievement is measured by results based outcomes. Now that may be you can play something in your bedroom that you couldn't play previously. For others, it may be that sense of achievement playing that piece under pressure on a stage. I get pleasure out of playing on stages - others don't. Either is fine. Some people get calm and outside of the daily grudgery by watching TV, exercising, build models, whatever.
  10. Absolutely - but I think it's a case by case basis as everybody's motivation is different. For some, its about getting better, getting those techniques down, expanding on repertoire. But you could argue, if there's no purpose to that, like no end goal, no gigs, what's the point. It's interesting how there was a race where lots of musicians were doing online collaborations. They have quickly run out of steam. Why? Because the amount of effort compared to the reception they get for some, doesn't make it worth the effort. Are "likes" now the measure of success? All that work for 7 likes may not cut it for some. Personally, I've been working on new skills - video, audio, AWS and Azure... and spending time relaxing with the other half whilst watching various tv series and films, currently appeals more than sitting for hours on my bass. A lot of my enjoyment came from the performance element and being with people. Remove that and the drive for me has waned substantially. I mispent my youth on techniques and all that sort of stuff... and most of them I never use anyway, so... apart from being party tricks that I can upload to the net to be ignored... what's the point?
  11. Umm OK
  12. WALOB
  13. Ive never done so little playing.
  14. Glad to see that you are making progress!
  15. @Bklyn3 - that bottom connection to the red cable with the resistor on. Is that going into the 5v connection - looks like it's in RST?
  16. Stay away from my boots and heels. I’m watching you.
  17. Yeah, not one to answer whilst drunk. "Which basses are you talking about? The 4 in the house, or the other 27 that are currently hidden?"
  18. "My woofer seems to have too much woof"
  19. Im looking forward to the "My pet cat is stuck in my Berg. HELP!" posts.
  20. A success! Lets hope the first of many!
  21. FedEx notification come from long numbers.
  22. Dunno if I can get with those ports or not. May need time to grow on me.
  23. That's certainly a valid opinion. What specific cabs are you making reference to?
  24. Go on then, I would invite you to expand and quantify, taking into account spherical bass cabs or triangular sections aren't the most practical for speaker cabs.
  25. I totally agree. critical and well-informed friend : "you're all too loud, you can't hear the vocals. All turn down. The PA hasn't got enough power to go louder to get above the clatter that you lot are making without sacrificing the sound of the vocals further or us being greeted with wailing feedback. You drummer. Yes, you the one with the two chopsticks in your hands. You need to lay off the drums. Next time consider leaving half your cymbals at home... and no, you don't need a second bass drum... or a double kick drum pedal before you get any ideas. Guitarist - you need to turn well down. Yes, yes, yes, I know all about the 'you can't get your tone without being a certain volume' but people are here to primarily listen to the vocals, so keep your ego in check... and you're deluded if you think you are the next guitar hero. The vocals? Yes - that's the person behind that ridiculous Elvis mic with the fairy lights going down the stand. Anyway... back to you mr guitar - don't pretend I didn't see you rolling back your volume pedal. The underage kid at the bar trying to sneak his first drink is better than you already. And don't even think about reaching around for the volume, or playing softer in soundcheck, that stinky poo doesn't wash with me. Bass? Nobody cares about the bass anyway. Do what you want."
