  1. Additionally, tricks like what Music Tribe are up to (Behringer) is not going to be helping. Similar Fender. They are basically cutting the small independents out - again, as I say, it's all about shifting boxes now. All manufacturers and distributors want the goods out of their hands and accounting for in the books asap (who doesn't?). But then all the risk is at the end retailer. The ability to drop 50 boxes of goods to a retailer is infinitely more appealing to just dropping 1 or 2 to that small independent. If the UK music industry is to survive, the distributors really need to help those that are going to struggle. I suspect they won't... as it's an overhead. Ergo, the large music supermarkets will get bigger, the smaller establishments will go pop. I fear that we are now entering a circle of self destruction. I understand what @MoJoKe is saying - but that also assumes that people have spare pennies to spend. People won't - especially as times will start to get tougher and not aided by the pandemic. If they can save a quid off Amazon, they will. Funnily enough, I've seen this before - in car insurance. There used to be high streets full of brokers, who would get you the best deal. Eventually, the Internet came along and caused disruption. The same service could be offered in an automated fashion and cut out the brokers and the cost associated with the bricks and mortar front ends. Of course, what they didn't tell you, is that a lot of the larger operations, were deliberately operating at a loss to undercut the high street - as they knew they could put the vast majority out of business within 2 years. And that is what happened. Then they jacked up the commission prices to recover the losses.
  2. Yup. The thing I find most frustrating about all of this is that the decisions made on this were driven by a decision by people who have not got a Scooby Doo on how any of this works - as proven in this thread. Its easy to say "buy British" - but the the complex pieces of string that hold all this together are far from easy to work out. We will see the fall out from this for many years to come... Some people have got very rich from it though. So there is that. They'll be paying all the taxes on their new found wealth... oh no. That will be stashed off shore. But as you say, blue passports... for what they are worth at the moment. Killer form of ID down the post office though I guess.
  3. Absolutely not. Just seems a bit random and just a load of Youtube vids with zero context as to why they have been posted.
  4. "Amazon: It is no longer possible to access Amazon UK from the EU depriving UK sellers of a 440 million customer base in Europe. UK merchants will be unable to fulfill EU orders using Amazon’s logistics networks" Guess the UK vendors will just have to be limited to selling within the UK then.
  5. What is this thread about? Some fan boy thread or something?
  6. All goods that started their journey pre EU Exit crossed under the EU membership agreements. (Or should have)
  7. That may be the front surround suspension. They can become noisy and sound raspy as they vibrate. You'll be able to locate the area by playing the note and running your finger around the edge of the speaker. If you can make it stop, its a problem with the main driver, not the tweeter. It's a sneaky fault as it does sound tweeterish.
  8. Interesting reading that paints yet another picture - https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-fish-trade-uk-eu-lorries-exports-b1784312.html?fbclid=IwAR1foEk_2jN1mHWdiRvjtABF1hAAWKA_9hpLryygFqC9qoirxNXCU6kPXtY
  9. Still waking up. Yeah, I did the transcription for it a long time ago - bit of a work out. It's not really a bass line - it's a keys bass, courtesy of Greg Phillinganes.
  10. And yeah, it had to be done.
  11. All gets going at 48 seconds...
  12. Surprised neither of these have surfaced yet.
  13. Just paste the link in and it should auto embed.
  14. Or have the space to do so.
  15. I think the ever decreasing opportunity of sale or return for shops mean that they just can't afford to stock the inventory to begin to compete effectively. As I say, distributors don't want the overhead, they just want to shift boxes.
  16. I loathe those things... and their "unexpected item in packing area"... and the game of trying to get it all to balance properly. ANNOYING. And then if you buy something age restricted, you are left hanging around anyway for the one person who is on duty to go off and get their manager because they aren't old enough to authorise the sale. I avoid whenever I can.
  17. You wouldn't have thought so. But people do. I guess its the time involved on building up the coats over time as opposed to spraying poly. Either that, or marketing.
  18. When you see the necks, you'll immediately get it. Poly vs oiled finish - and quarter sawn vs flatsawn. I guess the rest of it down to licensed vs US hardware... and the fact one is subject to US manufacturing costs and the other isn't. The US market are very keen to buy US - even if that means paying a lot more for minimal gains it would seem.
  19. This is what bricks and mortar need to adapt to. PA hire/teaching is a great value add service - and gets people physically into the shop so sales people can go - "Hey, have you seen this piece of kit?". It's a mercenary shopper who will then go elsewhere to save a tenner if they have built a good relationship with the shop. Thing is, most shops and distributors aren't so keen on that model. Like everybody, it's become more about shifting boxes.
  20. Its a valid point - however, the ability to record at 24/192khz is the big difference and the preamps are far, far superior than the XR18. For capturing demos and live performances, the XR18 is unquestionably the best bang for buck.
  21. Climax Blues Band. and yes, there’s an underlying feud in regard to an original member that now wants to stake claim on the name...
  22. I was wrong. I meant Gen Z not Millennial. I'm a Millennial, just. But I guess more later Millennials are still edging towards shopping online. So I guess the statement from earlier still stands.
  23. A great bass. If you like jazzes, it's just a nicely made jazz bass, albeit with a little different shape.
  24. Right, having read the thread, jeez RATM, chill the fk.
