  1. Tom bought my Peavey 4 X 10 tvx recently.Very nice fella and obviously a true devotee of bass.It was very early one morning ,but I would have liked to have chatted more, but had to get into work.Very straight forward to deal with.Real pleasure!

  2. I have about 26 of these, most dating randomly from mid to late 1970`s and about four from 80`s.I`d like to get a pound per copy for these archive of bands, reviews and latest gear ads.Ebay have them for up to £3 a copy. However they are very heavy and post would be prohibitive,so would prefer collection or I could deliver from brighton to southwest london for serious cash buyer.

  3. I`ve had this for ages and never gigged it.Indoor use only! And I think it`s time it went to someone who will make good use of it. Started sale at £185,then was looking for £145 ,then £125,but now dropped to £115.Sorry the pictures are not wonderful! It comes complete with power supply and long heavy dutystage connector and the huge midi stompboard.Usual stuff with me ......................................
I will not do shipping .However as with other ads I have placed, I can drop units off anywhere in between brighton and wandsworth ,london. Also from time to time I get around home counties as well eg,herts, bucks, berks ,hants and occasionally further. This offer is only for a nailed on cash buyer ! .................... or you could come down and try it out.

  4. A bit of a feeler at the mo as the market is somewhat depressed .....................
This is a 4 ohm model.all the speakers are fine working order. The horn I have tested and it works fine. However the pot or other small component will not let the high frequency signal through.I don`t have enough tech expertise to trace and alleviate prob.
However ,I know a lot of you guys switch the horn off anyways,so I assume for a few of you this would not even be an issue.
with that in mind I`m looking for a modest £95 to take this peavey monster on.If anyone really wants it I can get it to them anywhere between Brighton and south west london.cosmetically the cab is in pretty good nick. One small nick in rear vinyl as seen in pics.

  5. I`ve tried your suggestion and hey presto,at least I know the horn works.
So the problem is within the circuit board or components.I`ve run the tester over the components and the one marked

    T.I 15 OhF 5%
    MEA 200VDC

is not letting any signal or circuit go through!
    is that the crossover?

can i get diagrams or specific components from peavey?

  6. Is there a simple test for relative non experts to find out whether the horn in a peavey 4X10 tvx bass cab is not working or the attenuator/pot does not work, resulting in same thing.
I don`t want to replace the wrong piece is the real crux of the matter.

I have a small circuit tester ............ will that be of any use?

    all answers welcome

  8. Due to change of circumstance for some of the potential takers ,I still have this monster to get rid of.
If anyone still has an interest in the cab please pm me ,discreetly, with perhaps your mobile number and lets try and find this cab a home!
you guys in luton and bristol I`m still aware of but alas Ive not been down your way,but If you send me your mob`s
discreetly I`ll call if I go nearby.
Unfortunately I get little notice until the day,as to where I`m going!

    regards to all

  9. This cab is for all intents and purposes pretty much unusable. Some of the speakers make a sound ,but as you will see from pics, a less than arid garage has adorned the speakers with a curious organic covering.
This was going to be one of those projects we all think we will complete!
I was going to replace speakers, tidy it up blah!blah! .................
never found time. However there may those amongst you who have much more fortitude than me!
If that`s you the cab can be yours ,as is ,for say £15.
Its big and heavy but as I work as a driver I can normally get it to South London,or southern home counties or brighton area for a cup of tea as long as you are sure you want it e.g. I dont want to cart it around for display purposes.
    Alternatively,I`ll swap it for empty 2 X 10 or 1 X 12 or 2 X 12 bass cabs.
Or PM me with your suggestions .... no rude ones please.

  10. I went to the last one.Fairly small event with some `master classes` at a nominal extra cost(about £3 quid or so as I recall). There were three of these.Very friendly atmosphere, and not intimidating.I`ve not been to any other bass bashes so have little to compare it to.Hope this helps or is there anything specific you want to ask?

  11. I just noticed that there`s another bass players day at the portland rock bar listed for Sunday 13th April 2008.For anyone who`s interested or curious the website asks that you contact them for details.I`ts actually Hove area of Brighton.

I`m nothing to do with it other than that I live fairly close.

Hope this is of interest to the forum!

  12. A few guys who I saw and listened to, really made a difference to bass playing in the seventies ,in uk.

    Felix Krish .............SFX/bad company
    John Mackenzie.............. Morrisey mullen etc
    John reed .............. SOX
Alan Spenner ......... Kokomo /grease band
    Percy Jones
    glen hughes ................... Trapeze

  13. same goes for me!
The bass was exactly as described and what a pleasure to do buying from someone who really loves bass and basses!
I`m now really pleased to include TRB5P in my armoury.
    Very nice fella !

  14. First bass I had was an EKO solid violin bass with scroll headstock. It took me nearly a year of paper rounds to buy it from `The swap shop` in tottenham some thirty eight years ago(cost about twenty pounds and ten shillings).Body was like a murray buttermint one side and G plan on the back.lots of pup switches which never gave any thing other than gloomy tone!Played it through a watkins westminster combo.Far from ideal.first riff ..............green onions
However it got me started.Got ripped off by `Macaris` in charing cross road(didn`t everyone!)when I sold it.
