First bass I had was an EKO solid violin bass with scroll headstock. It took me nearly a year of paper rounds to buy it from `The swap shop` in tottenham some thirty eight years ago(cost about twenty pounds and ten shillings).Body was like a murray buttermint one side and G plan on the back.lots of pup switches which never gave any thing other than gloomy tone!Played it through a watkins westminster combo.Far from ideal.first riff ..............green onions However it got me started.Got ripped off by `Macaris` in charing cross road(didn`t everyone!)when I sold it.

Just found the pub`s website with more details of event ...... I`ll post the link ............ http://www.portlandrockbar.co.uk/

Its probably too late notice for most ,however, looking through my friday`s brighton Argus this morning there`s an interesting listing. Bass players masterclass at `The Portland Rock Bar` in brighton Sunday 11th November from 1 p.m. onwards ........... admission £3.00. There is a contact number of 07933 177780.It does not say who is there. I do not have anything to do with this event so it`s up to others if they feel they want to investigate. Hopefully this is the right place to post this! I`ll have a look myself as I live in the area. Apologies if this is listed elsewhere and I`ve just given everyone a dose of `told you so!`

gone but shame no one could use it!

Looking at other people`s ads tells me you are all trying to do the right thing ..................... I still find it hard to believe you can`t give them away ,even with the possibility of delivery! I think I`m wandering dangerously close to `grumpy old man` territory ............

Works fine, but now I have flat screen monitor ,so can anyone use/re-house this?
-
Thanks to every one for answers/tips and suggestions.I`ll have to do a bit of research into these devices but I`ve had a great heads up so far from you guys! I`ll have a quick sniff around e-bay as well.

So there is another way as direct jack suggests? Does that mean there is some kind of trade-off between the two methods of digitizing signal. what are the advantages of the soundcard interface over the direct lead method? For a novice(MOI)what do you guys recommend? Also bear in mind i`m just about to get involved with sequencing software for first time? Possibly some form/edition of cubase ,steinberg thingy. be gentle!
creative audigy 2 zs about £40 or less on the bay...you can also get a breakout box for these... link: http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll...ive+audigy+2+zs andy shouldve thought about this also! At the GAK store in Brighton they keep suggesting Edirol ua25 unit............... any experience by anyone with these? Whoops! just seen your e-bay suggestion of similar model.......................... Are there any issues with `delay` between what you play and what you hear? also is `latency`an issue or is that the same problem I`ve just asked ?

As an old git struggling with p.c`s and the like .................. I want to be able to play my bass guitar into my computer..... Have been advised to get a decent stand alone sound card interface. My question is, for entry level(i`m not trying to do a master recording),what`s a good ,simple, easy to use/understand card that will not leave me breathless on hearing the price. be gentle with tech type talk on replies as I`m not very p.c savvy! regards jhk

Thanks all for such speedy replies.I`ll take your replies and sort my gear list thing out. regards jhk

As a newbie would someone indulge my probably idiotic questions. What is the significance of a `bump` message? How do I put basic gear list in the message box like others? What does PM stand for?(not gordon brown!) When does `newbie` become `regular`contributor? Help an older bassplayer become less confused! regards jhk

I have a TRB6P and love it.Had the electrics re-done by bernie goodfellow.Lovely large spacing on strings!Even when I cannot afford to change strings as frequently as I should,it sings, sparkles and growls to order.I would say don`t be put off by blandness of look, but let your ears and fingers decide. -

Can anyone advise me whats the best or the most reliable/practical versions of racklights.I don`t want the goose-neck type.I`ve heard the behringers are not great either. Prefer the single horizontal type rather than extendable bulb holders(if that makes sense). Maybe someone has the old `trace` type for sale. All I know is that I`m struggling to see the graduations and print around my amp knobs and switches in poor lighting(probably `cos I`m an old git and in denial) Thanks in anticipation jhk
Hi John Hope all is good with the 2x12. Good to meet you today.... Have a bump on me! Cheers. Steve
My pleasure to meet you. Thanks again for your patience in making the collection possible. Not tried cab yet but I`m looking forward to using it on thursday. Regards jhk

Heavy duty USA ply 1 X 12 Plus horn 8 Ohm.Can be bi-amped.These used to be stupidly expensive .It has top hat so can be used as vertical speaker as well as floor wedge. It has speakon connectors. In the past ,when I did not need a floor monitor,I used this on top of a 15 inch cab in a bi amp set up,with only frequencies above 180 hz going through it.It sounded fantastic. And also the angle made it easy to monitor for me as I`m 2 metres tall!! I did want £105,then £95, but £75 now I live near Brighton but drive to wandsworth,London most days.So delivery en route for nailed on cash buyer is a possibility As I work as a driver sometimes I do get to some of the home shires as well.Cash on collection/meet /delivery only.
-
As far as I know I`m only the second owner of this cab.I`ve had it for 4 years and i think it was about 2 to 3 year old when I got it.No rips, tears etc .Front grill fine.Still with original speaker and horn.Never thrashed, and used as sub end of bi-amp stack with my WT-600.I live near brighton area, although most days I drive to SW (wandsworth)London to work.I don`t want to package/send cab so cash on collection .It may be possible to arrange something with a ` solid buyer` as i do work as a delivery driver .
