A few of my mates have been to Kendal calling the last couple of years and said it was a really well run festival with some great bands. Nice and handy for you as well.

Don't worry about any mistakes you make, the audience probably won't notice. Enjoy it, and at the end of the night you'll be kicking yourself for having not been giging for the last 15 years. Good luck.

Last year we played at a Scooter rally in Belfast and have been asked back again. We had a great time last year and thought we could make a weekend of it and possibily get a gig on the Friday before we played the Scooter rally. Does anyone know of any suitable venues we could contact, ideally with their own P.A. We would be looking for a gig on Friday 9th August. We are a four piece covers band Vox, Drums, Bass and Guitar. Playing Stone Roses, Smiths, Stereophonics, The Specials, The Jam etc. The Scooter rally i think will be at Stormount Castle, so somewhere in that area would be great. Cheers Ash.

How to determine if youre a right or left handed player
bigash replied to bonzodog's topic in General Discussion
I'm similar to OP's brother, write left handed but did most two-handed operations (golf, cricket) right handed yet had to play raquet sports left handed. It hasn't been easy teaching myself to play right handed and I'll never be a virtuoso but I cobbled togather a useable technique, couldn't play leftie now if my life depended on it. How to determine if youre a right or left handed player

I was the same, left handed writing, tennis etc. Right handed golf, cricket. When i first started playing i had a right handed bass but it felt natural to play it left handed. Eventually bought a left handed bass and been that way since. As has been said previously it would be a lot easier if your brother could learn right handed. -
You got it yet ?
I'm trying to buy some speakers to put in our practice room and have exactly the same problem. Looking on E-bay 90% of all offerings are collection only which is really frustrating. Sellers perogative of course, but as you say, they are reducing their market place drastically. It would be really great if E-bay would let you filter items so that you only saw items that offered delivery, or were within a certain radius.
What i do, and it works 9 times out of 10, is message seller asking if i organise a courier on a day suitable to you. Would you be willing to package the goods and hand them over. They have eliminated 90% of their potential buyers and i usually pick up the item a lot cheaper than usual. P.S don't tell everyone.
Don't blame us, it's all the right handed players that should be playing left handed basses that are the problem
But then i would be playing right handed and there would still be no basses for me.

You are all traitors and the reason there is a limited amount of left handed basses.

We got our first really big gig this August at Stormont Castle in Belfast. Can't wait You'll be fine once you get started. It's just that moment before you go on shits me up. -
i joined a band who had just started out. The young Singer/ Songwriter thought he was going to be the next Bob Dylan. After a few rehersals it was obvious they were not going anywhere, but i carried on as a couple of mates were in the band and it was a good laugh. After a friday night rehersal we decide to go out and have a few beers as a band bonding session. Well a few beers turned into a lot of beers. As the company grew including Bobs Mother the party was in full swing. Anyway at the end of the night me and Bobs Mother bonded literally. The next afternoon when i woke up i found i had a text from Bob saying i was no longer in the band. I still havn't got to the bottom of why he sent the text.
I LOVE my Genz Benz 6x 10 cab, but its too bloody big and heavy, so I am gonna have to think about something a little more moveable. Berg? Barefaced?
Whereabouts are you, i stay near Lockerbie and you are welcome to come and try out my Super 12t.

Our old Yamaha desk has seen it's last gig. The magic smoke appeared, and it looks like thats it. We have a chance of a Peavey 16FX pretty much new with a flight case. Can anyone tell me if they are any good compared to the Yamaha? Been offered it for £450 including the case, does this sound like a fair price? Cheers Ash.

Following on from the damaged WAL thread......
I can't get my head round owning gear to not play it. My two main basses are expensive-ish (but not mind blowingly so) but I bought them to gig with. I saw a discussion on another forum recently about whether or not people gig their vintage guitar amps - the number of guys on there who had brilliant amps that were built for gigging (and definitely too big for home noodling) that they wrapped up in cotton wool at home while buying cheaper, less tasty sounding amps to gig with. Why even bother? If you're playing Bob's Country Bunker and you're worried the locals will get through the chicken wire then by all means take something cheaper, but for day to day gigging, surely you want the best tools for the job?
Every gig we do is like Bob's Country Bunker. But there is no chicken wire and we can't play Rawhide -
