there is now a warning on facebook market by a chap who got ripped on a boss dr880 drum machine, the same one i was going for when he said no collection because he was going on his holls, so i bailed, so the guy with the ad has been intouch after i reached out to him, and he said he has had getting on 50 messages from others on facebook about him. here is the ad... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/436885068313583/?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner and here is his reply "Unfortunately been going on since Jan 2021 (at least). Fu@k all that, im 58, as well as playing in a 80s tribute show, i write all the songs for my 8 piece funk band and record them all thats my love thang, and i cant imagine a world where i could not do this, i would hate it, im in my studio having a break right now typing this. get some recording gear, cheap now days, skol has done a great thred in the Recording section called BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO HOME RECORDING. Dont wast that good sound you have been striving to get, get it down, create if that does not convince you then this might.... creating songs and releasing them, dead easy nowdays, will be one of the only things you can leave here when your gone, your name will always be attached with them songs, you will never die, also to learn all them songs over the years you will have gained alot of skill and knowledge, you going to let all that just go ? years of work ? with nothing to show for it ? no reward ? NOTHING ? Naaarrrrrr, what a wast. If you have not tried then maybe think about writing, get some chunes out there and when you have done enough, you can decide if you want to surround your self with good players to play them live ! i think this was a door opener for aspiring bass players and pros alike, and the fact most bass players have heard it, weather they like it or not matters not, i dont think he is over rated, his 16th funky fingerstyle is for me just killer, thats where id like to be. but not to be a copy, but just to have that feel under my fingers as and when its needed Bad solos ? iv said this once befor on here, but here it is again because its in the running here... i was playing in a rock covers band in the 80s and we played in a pub called the mersey clipper that was on corporation road in Birkenhead, a VERY scruffy rough little dive with the smallest stage on the planet , anyone remember that ? we use to go on after the stripper ( not joking), so half way through the set i did a bass solo and i use to ware dark sunglasses trying to look cool, half way through my bass solo one of the lenses fell out my crap sunglasses, i looked up and the whole place creased up. al never forget that, and the bass solo was crap too thinking about it 🙂 Moral of the story ??? dont go on stage with cheap sh!t sunglasses, you know its going to happen.....it will. it will... 🙂

i started a sort of modern cajun band and racked my head coming up with a name.. in the end came up with... "SlackJaw Hoboes" i love that name. its still sort of going.. was in another doing a mix of uptempo songs in a bastardised jazzy way with a girl singer... band name.... ? "Jazz slags" oh... and another that never really got off the ground, 5 of the members of a soul band i was in decided to fire ourselfs and left to do a smaller band and mix of stuff ...( or did we just sack the 3 brass players ?) so we were called "The Spud gun 5" 🙂 just go with what comes into your head, you can make it witty if wanted. could even make it age related, for ex, how many of you would get "Ernie's turbo milk cart" ?

and in that lays the biggest problem, "greed" fender if wanted could of taken a big chunk of the guitar pie early on and kept it stable, but, with cost cutting and making a great product as cheap as they can they cut their own throats, in that the quality went down so bad that even the japan ( respect to japan here by the way ) made better instruments for fender, and then to licence the mex ones out as well under the fender brand and flooding the market with ( what ever you want to call them) all it did was water down, thin out, spred out, cheaply globilise an iconic product, it was only a matter of time, greed and bad managerment just looking at the bonus at the end of the year. i still say fender produce the cheapest product at the higest price based on name, they give you a product that works great out of the box, ( some of the time) but if you really want to make it special you have to work on it and upgrade your self. fender should of stayed self contained, the legacy was given to them on a plate for gods sake, why could they not see that ? greed ! each to their own and all that.
