Thought id open this up as im interested in all things bass rack pre's, interesting to see whats out there and must be interesting for others thinking about getting one. if you have one please tell us a bit about it. Iv been using this of late for recording for a certain sounds and also in an 80s tribute band, which its perfect for, Its a 1980s Nomad Bassman, there was a guitar version as well called the Axman, but the bassman is far rarer and does not pop up very often., made in the UK it was quite expensive when it came out. Its got a few tricks up its sleeve some good some not so good iv just cut and pasted this to save me typing it all out... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ " its got Pre-EQ. Compressor with Ratio control, Attack, Release and Gate buttons. Octave divider to add sub bass. EQ with LF and HF controls with a filter button. Crossover control, It has a low pass output on the back. Chorus, with delay control and Flanger buttons Back Panel has Sub out, Right out, Left Mono out. Insert socket, foot switch sockets for Chorus and Octave. " ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In use the compressor is very good if your after that fat "click" at the beginning of your notes then you can dial that in easy. i found the compressor better than the boss compressor and 1 or two others i have tried, so when recording you can get your bass lines to really "POP" out, great when playing tight parts with the bass drum, or if wanted to cool down transient peaks it does not suck on your tone too much just sort of squashes your harder hitting notes good for leveling out slap lines and bringing lower notes up a bit. the octave is soso, but at least it does not glitch like my boss one does as the notes die, chorus is good, i use that in the 80s band when doing "im still standing by elton john" and is good at getting that Dee Murray sound. The sub out on the rear i found to be very handy as when im recording i can send out 2 chans crossed over one sub bass and one bass its very good when you want to dial in as much sub as you want and mixing the two sounds together which is not the same as doing it with the EQ on one normal bass track, but also you can add fx on to one of the crossed over signals say a sub wah on the low, say from the dod fx25b envelope filter which is one of the only things that wah sub frequency's, a fantastic little pedal that. so loads of options when splitting the sound. so yea i like this. cant find a manual for it anywhere on the planet, Anyone got one ? also looking for another one so i dont have to keep taking it from the studio to my gig bag I did also have my eye on a SWR pre a short time ago but someone beat me to it, anyone got one ?

Which companies are dead to you?
funkgod replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Ahhh i like spoons, i can go my local and get a pint of my fave beer for Β£1.70 ! i dont drink it cus its cheap, i drink it cus i like it and i drank it before spoons, so for me its a win win, so i get my fave beer for Β£1.70, AND Bonus ... if you get there abit later and get a window seat, you can watch the Gypsies kick the $hi! out of each other in the car park all while you savor a flaggen of your favorite grog ! I swear, its the best entertainment you can get on the planet for Β£1.70 whats there not to like, Thanks Tim π My Hate is G&L i love their basses and have 4 of them, but as a maker of "professional Instruments for professionals" their back up service is anything but " Professional" if you clame to have a Professional company that make "professional Instruments for professionals" and the back up service is just $hi! then its not a professional company at all, its just a professional company until its got your cash, then you can sod off, we will get back to you and reply when we can be arsed, no matter how many emails you send ! -

No takers, so, i tried it at a practice by connecting this right to the mixing desks RCA outs and plug into this in the line input in stereo set it to 48k/24 bit, pressed record and to be fair to it, it sounded great, so have decided to keep it as its a great little tool for that. so no longer available.

How To Record Your Bass Without Breaking The Bank
funkgod replied to greghagger's topic in Recording
good shout, it is indeed so cheap now days to get good results from stupidly cheap gear and even free software like reaper with free plugins. also the second hand market is just littered with interfaces, as people are always upgrading, so don't be afraid of using older gear, ( newer gear is NOT always better) im still using stuff over 20 years old ( some of it is over 40 years old) with very good results, so ignor all the gear snobs, just get something that gets you going. best bit of advice i can give is...... what ever you use to put your daw on, via laptop or pc, just use it for music production, no internet or anything else and switch everything else off on it you don't need, so you have not got loads of unnecessary processes going on in the background that will suck on your process and ram power.- 8 replies

i could never understand why musicians get rid of their CDS ! i have a wall of jazzfunk jazz latin and related 0f about 700. and to me each one of them not only represent a memory, but for me who is a writing musician releasing tracks they also represent, formats, ideas, colors, textures, what instrument sounds good with others, whats dark, whats happy how to create tension, when dropping stuff out of a mix whats gluing stuff together, bass tones, and that's even before i start on FX, reverb types, mix styles bla bla bla. i think each one has something special to offer. so to me they are like a very useful library of tools and the thought of getting rid of them just to buy them again in another format seems stupid, so i keep them, some very very hard to get ones as well, yea... i like CDs π so if you getting rid of anything funkjazz related, im ya man. its the graveyard where all funky cds end up, but get to live again π -
and just to prove the point, i got this today from "Muhammad Kashif" this was in answer to somthing i have for sale to shift incase anyone needed them cheap for Β£20 ! so if you ever get something like this or from him.. DONT click the link.. ".....Hi , are you interested in trade + money diff from me? This is my item : http:/facebook-marketplace ( number removed by me) .pe...... "

yep been there also, you would not believe some of the stories i can tell of .... timewasters, scammers, people taking the pi$$, buyers that dont live in the uk, people asking stupid questions, people that have not read the description, people asking will i deliver half the country away people that do not turn up even though you waited in for them people asking 10 questions for days then "its ok iv found another one" people sending you dodgy links people asking you to swap for this, then sending you a dodgy link people asking for your address and contact number then radio silence. people offering a courier to collect with cash. people whos mum really want it but he is working off shore on an oil rig peoples buying for a son or daughter cus its their birthday they can pay but are out the country. people then when you click their profile have pics surrounded by palm trees, and live abroard people that are a pastor and want you to send to a friend yep facebook is rife with scammers, you have to be cautious. and can be a real pain in the crack. on saying all that, once you can navigate the minefield, i have met loads of really nice buyers and sellers. and the best bit.... no Ebay fees ! .... but at the cost of all the sh!t you have to put up with. my rule number 1,.... if it has to be sent....i dont except paypall, only bank transfer for obvious reasons. and if collecting its cash ONLY !

-
that will be great, about time ska got some primetime ..only trouble is... its jools, π al leave the "jools" rant right there to spare you all 5 pages of personal dislike π wont be able to watch it anyway as im doing the pa for a music fest, but do get the chance to play percussion in a gospel band, so win win, should be a great watch though... π

that's interesting thanks for that, just checked and they must of released tones with that name as you get all the "now thats what i call 80s" American series of them all as well, and prob every other country has a version of it, they made a big fist full of cash from other peoples music.
