Edited my 2 posts to this one... thought i would add mine, all USA. great story for the one on the left. I got it from a shop in birkenhead about 20 years ago it was 2nd hand then but as new. about 2 years later i sold it to a chap in manchester, for the cash to get something which was pants... so then all the time i wished i had never sold it then about 3 years ago i spotted it on ebay, when i contacted the seller it was the chap i sold it to, he never used it and it sat under his bed all that time, so it was pulled from ebay and i got it back £100 less than he paid for it in the same as new condition with tags and original G&L fender type case also as new, its the 3 bolt one just as they changed from having the plate on the front with leo fenders sig on the head stock, its going nowhere this time. The black Beast... Iv been after one of these for years, i have a wanted ad on here from years ago still running and bagged this 1981/2 not long ago and am positively BUZZIN,, Very powerfull defined sound, I just need an EBONY fretless (pref with hog body) and an all natural necked one now.... (another 5 years of lookin,) anyone got one for sale ? The translucent red is one of the best basses i have ever played its heavy at 8.3kg which i love this thing is as powerfull as my wal and it will growll spit and fart if you dig in hard and the slap sound would pin you to the back wall, mr king or mr johnson would love it im sure, to me its the ultmate funk bass, super low action great neck and is now with the wal my main bass. The one on the right has a quilted maple top which is a custom order ( you can order this top from the web page), which is one of the best tops i have seen on a G&L along with a few on this page ( photo does not do this one justice) its lighter than the other two, 6 bolt wider fast neck again great clear slap tone but not as much body or punch in the sound as the other three, a bit thinner sounding in the lower mid and again in the low end. to sum up, i think the G&Ls are amongst the best production bass on the planet, there is nothing they wont do, and what ever they do they do VERY WELL, an all time great all rounder. am i waffling now.... ..... ok al shut up. brace yourselvs

I have had my fill of "Charity gigs" also the last one we did NOV last year took me all day to set up an 11 piece band drove 30 miles, tunnel fee then while there another duo used the pa as well as a chior and an army drum thing and backing music for dancers i was at the desk all day all evening then went on last to play for 2 hours, when everyone went we took down the pa drove back got home about 2.30am two things Pi@@ed me off the club was earning a fair bit at the bar and would not contribute , we had to pay for food and drinks, even soft drinks. end of the night packing away the gear we asked for two glasses of coke and was told the bar was shut. Reading about the event in the local rag there was no mention of the effort we did only about the club and the organiser's patting themselves on the back. That was my last ......unless, as Smurfitt says we do it ourselves

Try this.. two mics and a realist. 1) bridge pickup through some sort of preamp ( i use my amek 9098) into desk. 2)one mic, your rho, 0r the behringer valve T47 ( ignor the boffins its £90 and sounds great) place that about a foot or so away from from the strings above the bridge 3) good old sm58 as close as you can get to where your fingers pluck. record your track.. then when mixing use the click of the sm58 from your fingers as a sort of compression the rise/attack time will be sharper/ faster than other two mikes and tighten up the track, you can mix this in as wanted the t47 will give you the warmth and abit of the room, and your transducer will give you the woodiness, once you have all 3 tracks down you can do all sorts, try this ,, roll off all the treb and mid from one mic and roll off all the bass and half mid boosting the treb from another mic and hay presto a sort of crossover between the two then blend in the other mic as needed, as said you can do allsorts with this tecnique all good fun.
They are 2 left and 2 right. The question is, can they be reversed?
Hi Yes 2 L + 2 R. They cant be reversed as the bottom end of the stem is wider than than the top and acts as a stop as well so the holes in the base that the stem goes through are different sizes. and the pitch on the gear would be wrong. pity.

When ever you have an argument with the wife, Cheer your self up simply by watching your wedding video backwards...... you'll love the bit where you give her back the ring, watch her walk back down the aisle, get into a car and pi@@ off !.... Save money on expensive air fresheners, simply by stuffing lavender up ya hoop, then every time you fart a burst soothing fragrance is released into you house. Submarine designers, why not put the water pipes on the out side then if there is a leak it wont make a mess ! GOOD OLD VIZ

SPARES ahh yes. i always have in my bag, Spare.... strings lead battery and the the biggy,,,,,,,,, FUSES for plug and amp oh my fave,,, you buy cheap, you buy twice.......( only about 90% right) and my best advice to all.... Buy and use a circuit breaker best £8 you can spend. you gear might be good but the wiring in some venues is HORRENDOUS. Like this one..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RCD-Power-Circuit-Breaker-Socket-Plug-Safety-Switch-/140334475536?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Electrical_Fittings_MJ&hash=item20ac962910

Thought it might be a good idea to have a tips section as i am sure all of us will have at least one we could all use. ok, to get the ball rolling, im going to give mine i have been using for years now and is very handy regarding leads. i hire and do the band pa and i got sick of trying to find what lead goes where in the spaghetti. Cure.. next time you or the kids throw away felt tip pens take out the refill and slice the pen into 7mm (ish) rings put a slit down the edge, these then you can wrap around either ends of leads ( not all the same colour ! HA) hay presto, no more wondering what that is in the multicore box. you can even group your leads, example, brass section yellow rings 1ring on one, two on the other, 3 on another EASY your welcome
