thats prob the reason so many studios still use them, i know 5 studios now that use these with windows 7 for various jobs. 3 of them because they had seen mine and was sick of there tower or lap top having probs, mine was purchased on good advice from one, in fact it was "i.clarke" on here who came up with the idea and out of all of them ounce up and running only one of them have had a fault, and that was with the graphics, but was soon sorted. great tools for the job hi kev you might want to have a look at these, if interested giz a bell and pop in, al show you it running.

the imac is as you prob know, but just put here for others who dont know, is just like having a single monitor, there is no tower or box for the pc brain as the computer is built into the back of the monitor screen, the whole thing is as you see it. so its a pritty good space saving, option.

ahhh buggernutz, sorry i did not know that, being a windows user, the only thing apple i have in the studio is an Imac 27" that is running windows 7 as its os, and runs fantastically would you believe, i use it to run all my software synths, which it does a great job with no probs whatso ever. if it broke today i would get another old imac to replace it. you can get them now for £50 a great tool to have just for that job. For anyone looking to get a cheap machine to run say an older version of cubase or like me all your software synths, to use as a stand alone system just to do a specific job these old imacs are a very good option over a lap top due to allot of reasons, size of screen for one and the speed of them, you can get windows 7 on them quite easy, youtube is your friend here, just look for the ones with the dvd/cd drive on the right hand side of the screen otherwise its a real pain loading windows in using an external drive ! again youtube is your friend here as well, if you want more info just shout.

ahhh ha ha, thats great...i went the other way !, i got rid of my Alesis compressor and kept the drawmer, im not even sure why now it was a while ago, horses for courses at the time i suppose. i wonder if the TC reverbs in the 02R are the same in the d8b ? as the ones in the d8b sound great and well usable, and because they are right there i use them on nearly every mix i do. at the mo cus im doing an old school rave type track ( not my usual thing i would strongly like to point out haha ) im using some old Yamaha reverbs to try and get that "Old school" sound, so im using a rev 7 for one or two things (i have two of those) and last year i got hold of pro R3 which was yamahas flagship back in the day which im finding a few good uses for but still really tinkering around with it looking for its strengths so cant say allot on that at the mo but its "WIDE" open i know that. and i do like the upfront open sound of it, so im using that more at mo that the Rev500 iv had for a while on this track, we will see 🙂 Regarding the D8B, i love that thing, im so use to it now i just cant be @rsed to use anything else and go through all the learning again, so just incase it goes down i have another at the ready, Here ya go, this will take you back.......

I think i have just duffed down me leg 🙂 I like the M1 allot, i have the M-one and the D-two ( delays) both great units, i use them all the time, the routing building blocks in the M-one is just a fantastic idea and makes a big diff in the sound what way you put them, still both great units even by todays standards and you can pick them up quite cheap now. im going to check out the WA Bus compressor, cheers , The Klark Kt has had some great reviews, iv never tried one, , im just fixing a Universal audio 1176LN for someone, and still waiting for parts, their back up service is just CR@P ! ! but when thats done al have a little play on that should be about the same sort of think as the Klark, But at the mo im using Massenburg EQ with drawmer the old DL221 remember them ? the dam thing just keeps going or if not the drawmer then i have some software built into the mackie D8B called "finial mix" i think this was sold off by mackie to tracktion and is now called "master mix" but is more or less exactly the same thing and works wonders in the D8B. Cheers for all that https://www.tracktion.com/products/master-mix https://massenburgdesignworks.com/

owen, try this its a stand alone system, you dont have to connect it to any daw, just chuck your mp3, or better a wav file in to it, then pick a style from a big list, and let it do its stuff while you sit back and have a brew. one thing... put your original file in its own folder on your desk top then do it, then all the stuff it does will be saved to the same file. its free for doing files for up to 3 and a half mins or 4, or something like that, and will only use 4 multiband compressors, but good enough to give you an idea, plus its got some VERY handy tools you can use. try it if you like, ya good to go, if not its cost you nothing. i know people who are charging using this as a mastering service. cheeky buggers enjoy https://www.curioza.com/index.php/audio-mastering

pointy headstocks sharp angles in bodys. headless basses stick basses roundwound or tapewound strings cheap electrics that have next to no variance in tone glued in headstocks light bass bodys maple fretless necks stock musicman stingray pickups, they still not addressed that out of line G pole piece that plastic chad valley ronco stingray battery holder. the newer wide G&L natural maple necks ( awfull) bridges that when the barrels are on the base the strings are still too high. ( more to do with the neck pocket too high really) sh!t tuners that unwind themselfs carved engraved bodys single cut away bodys fat chunky necks basses that are more "ART" than usable bass, like overpriced over the top Alembics. semi body basses with F holes, though some do look great. fanned fret boards. see through resin bodys covers over pickups, right where i want play pickups that are right on the end of the neck, i can get my fingers under to snap, and last but not least... Anything that says rickenbacker im pritty sure that covers most of it 🙂

haha there is that, sometimes if its say a date stamped pot like the 60/70/80 cts and you want to keep it original or an expensive pot then its worth the effort. if replacing there are some very high quality pots out there that are worth looking at, im just working on some universal audio preamps and comps like the 1176LN limiting amp and they use PEC pots made in Canada, well impressed with them, and im very tempted to try some on a passive jazz.

you could write about any thing, 1, your own life and views 2, commenting on others lives and views. macca said he writes about the day, from when he " jumps out of bed" what you see and what you feel, its as simple as that. you could add another insight to a book you read, aka steely dan. or just some good advice you might want to share or just about searching for an idea for a song untill the light popped on while reading a post on bass chat 🙂 But for me clever writing is next level stuff, some songs that tell you everything in the first two lines. like.. "Seven days" was all she wrote, a kind of ultimatum note. as much as i dislike him, thats clever -
If you have tried all that and its still crackly, then.... 1, take it out, 2, bend back the 4 legs on the pot covering. 3, take apart. 4 clean the carbon track with a cotton bud and isopropinol or WD40 . ( then check it with a meter if you have one) 5 and again very carefully clean the wipers without bending them, if they are worn right down the the legs renew pot 6, again clean the carbon track with vasaline leaving the faintest trace on the track ( literally hardly anything) 7, put back together leaving some vasaline on the shaft ( acts a a dust trap on the shaft) and you should be ok
