1. A mate of mine had one in the early '90's, nice sound but I agree the body kinda put me off so if this one becomes available I will definitely be interested!
2. Whoops! Link follows... http://bassplayer.tv/index.html?req=1&...8_lomenzo2sound
3. Oooh! Have just been watching JLo over on BassPlayerTV and he's using his new custom Yamaha BB bass. Me likes!
4. Thanks for the info Danlea, worked a bloody treat! Woo-hoo! Cheers! Dan
5. Can anyone help? I've recently changed the strings on my Fender Geddy Lee from the 45-105 Fender strings to a set of 45-105 DRs' - the other strings are fine but it appears that when I play a powerchord high up (say for instance an F on the D string and a C on the Gstring) the note from the G seems to be out a little out. When I changed the strings I changed them one at the time which when I owned a Precision seemed to work ok! Any ideas? Cheers Dan
6. Have just gone and bought an Ashdown J-Lo Hyperdrive & an Aphex Bass Xciter and want to get the best out of them when using them in conjunction with my other pedals (Boss ME-50B and Boss GEB-7), anybody got any suggestions where which one would be best suited in an fx chain. I think it should go...Bass> GEB-7> Aphex Xciter> J-Lo> ME50B> Amp? Cheers Dan
7. DR Nickel Sunbeams are the ones for me!
8. Well, the sound I've been using with them is just my normal setup with possibly a bias towards the low mids and rolled off a little bit on the bridge pickup. Songs in the set include: Caroline Roll Over Lay Down Something 'bout You Baby I Like Big Fat Mama Rain 4500 Times Don't Waste My Time In My Chair Backwater Rockin' All Over The World Bye Bye Johnny Roadhouse Blues Down Down Whatever You Want ....etc!
9. LOL! Just the southern counties!
10. With regret I will be leaving my current band - Quo-caine - and they will be looking for a replacement as of the end of August. Most of the band are based in or around Horsham in West Sussex. The gigs would be possibly be 1/2 a month and they're looking for someone to replicate the sound not the look of early Quo! Ability to provide backing/lead vocals would be a bonus. The band's website is www.quo-caine.com if you fancy a look and the contact e-mail for Rob (singer/guitarist) is [email protected]. Cheers.
11. King's X Ting Tings Weezer Gabrielle Cilmii
12. Venues I can suggest are: The Malt Shovel, Horsham The Holbrook social club, Horsham The Green Dragon, Horsham The Railway, Crawley The Tilgate, Crawley Hope that's of some help!
13. Don't know if I've posted this in the right section but I have a Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass and I was wondering what the best stuff to use to polish it with?
14. Riddler is a nice guy to deal with. (Thanks for the cab, mate!)
15. Friday Bump! Cash and collection only - courier costs are ridiculous!
16. I bought my Ashdown combo (over the phone) from the shop in Stevenage, had it delivered to my work, it turned up with a huge dent and also some broken links in the grille, phoned 'em up they said they would get a replacement one ordered - a week later nothing had arrived, spoke to a very helpful chap @ Ashdown who said they had sent it to Coda Music 4 days earlier. Phoned the shop back and after having a look round their warehouse, they eventually found out! I hope my problem was a one off but tbh I've not used 'em since. Ashdown - 1 Coda Music - 0 Dan
17. Welcome! When I was a lad I wanted to be a drummer but the parentals would let me have a kit so picked up the bass, so stick with it!
18. Bugger! Why didn't I think of that. Cheers Bilbo, that's got me a-thinking!
19. Well, I currently play with some old friends in a Status Quo cover band as they were desperate for a bassist, I'm not a fan of t'Quo but can appreciate the music, I find now having done it for nearly 3 years now that I've been getting seriously bored with the material as probably in any type of "boogie" band, the rhythm section can't really deviate from what has been written (and our drummer agrees!). I've never made so much money from gigging but have finally decided that I'm gonna quit at the end of the year as I can spend 2 hours doing the gig and it could go really well but I just don't get the buzz from playing the stuff as I would if I played songs by bands that I genuinely like/love.
20. Cheers, that would be great! Have PM'd my details to u. Dan
21.
Hi Yep I've still got it. Waiting to hear from Dandini (see above). Guess I should give him first refusal if he replies soon. If he doesn't reply by tomorrow maybe I could bring the cab to your house and you could give it bash for a couple of days. I'll trust you :-) Cheers Graham
Cool. No probs!
22. Started off liking "poodle" rock then got into metal - Megadeth, Maiden etc then grunge then indie and have now gone back to listening to a bit more metal again! Current faves:- Lacuna Coil Dream Theater Coheed & Cabria (prog metal?!) Pantera Megadeth (J.Lo rocks!) Sabbarf Queensryche (Eddie Jackson - v. underrated)
23. Have u sold the 2 x 10? Was in the market for a 1 x 15 cab but am tempted by your cab and I live and work in Horsham so am not far from you.
24. Agree with all the previous comments - friendly, great advice on gear etc - only trouble is my GAS has gone thru the roof looking at what everyone else plays!
