1. This is an absolutely stunning example of (to my mind) one of the greatest 5 string basses ever and it's in near mint condition, just one tiny dink on the back near the battery case (see pic). Flame maple body in translucent orange with ebony fingerboard and through neck construction. PJ pickups plus piezo in the bridge gives huge amount of flexibility. 18.5mm string spacing, original hardshell case and original manual included. Made in Japan in 1992. [s]the 1980s, don't know the exact year sadly.[/s] Strung E-C with Rotosound TruBass at the moment but no changes to the nut so very easy to put back to B-G if you prefer. Given the condition, originality and rarity I think £750 is a bargain (but you may disagree :-)); can be picked up (or tried out) in High Wycombe or around Heathrow/Staines area, can also be shipped for £30 within the UK (fully insured with UPS) or £60 within EU (again fully insured with UPS) - will be packed inside a proper guitar carton with lots of bubble wrap. I'm selling a few basses at the moment to finance a new one - trying to get from having lots of basses to just 1 or 2. I might be tempted if you have a 5 string Pedulla, Rickenbacker or Status with cash into the deal from my end but ideally I'd like a straight sale.
2. Just thought it might stick in the mind given how unusual it is! This definitely is a transparent blue with flame maple top so fairly certain it's not your old one, the paint doesn't look like a refinish and it's unlikely they'd paint a solid colour over a lovely flame top (unless they took a leaf out of Gibson's book :-)) UMIST is my alma mater, sadly they never had a guitar show when I was there!
3. Hi - if yours was serial number 8888 then it's the same one! :-) I picked it up on eBay a while back because I loved the look but sadly my hands are just too small.
4. Just re-measured and it's more like 14mm but yes, it is tight. Comfortable and easy to play though, string spacing is pretty consistent all the way up the neck, gets to 9mm at the nut.
5. Thanks! String spacing is a very comfortable 13mm at the bridge.
6. Couple of interesting trade offers so far but have got my eye on something else so would prefer the cash hence price drop! What would convince me trade wise would be a G&L L5000,Yamaha BB5000 (ideally BB5000A), Ricky or Vigier 5 strings.
7. It's a lacquer crack, not in the wood. Part of the relic look :-)
8. I can always take one off? :-) It is actually strung E-C so quite easy to get used to (compared to B-G).
9. For sale: a customised Squier Jazz Bass V which I've repainted in nitrocellulose Burgundy Mist (from Manchester Guitar Tech) and affixed a Fender logo to. I've always loved Guy Pratt's burgundy mist Jazz but as I play 5 stirng (erm, and also can't afford an original custom colour Jazz) I thought I'd have a go at recreating it. It's come out pretty well I think, there is some deliberate relicing and I've oversprayed a bit on the back of the headstock but it looks good to me! Was planning to fit EMGs to finish the look but the stock Duncan Designed pickups sounded great so I've kept them on. Rear of the headstock still has the Squier serial number - it's not pretending to be anything other than a Squier with a Fender logo but just for the avoidance of doubt, this is not a real Fender. Has genuine Fender pickup cover though on the neck pickup - this is from the Marcus Miller V Plays great, sounds great, looks great. Hopefully someone else can give it a home as I just don't have the space anymore (apparently :-)) More pics available upon request. [s]£175[/s] £150 collected from High Wycombe or Heathrow/Staines area, or can be shipped for £25 in the UK or £50 within the EU with UPS.
10. PM'd
11. Pete bought myYamaha BB1025X - it was a perfect transaction all round and I'd highly recommend trading with him. Cheers!
12. I've decided to sell my beloved but unused Yamaha BB1025X as sadly my other Yammys get all the attention and this is too good to just sit in a corner. It has the best set of passive pickups I've ever heard and is in truly fantastic, "as new" condition, no scratches or dinks from what I can see. No fretwear either. It comes with the original high quality gigbag and I'm fairly sure I've still got the original cardboard box that it came in. I think £475 is a fair price given the condition. It's 4.6kg according to my bathroom scales. Can be picked up from High Wycombe or Staines, also happy to meet up within a reasonable distance of either of those places, just message me to agree upfront. Alternatively I can post for £25 insured in the UK; if you're further away, message me to discuss. Not really looking for trades at the moment, sorry. 13. is it a 5 string though? If not, then I doubt it will fit as the pickup is larger on mine...
14. This might be a long shot but does anyone have a white Squier Precision Bass V scratchplate that they want to swap for a tortoiseshell one? I have a tort one in excellent condition but I'd like a white one :-)
15. Just waiting to hear back from the luthier bump...any interest?
