1. bump - also forgot to mention that these are strung E-C but could easily be put back to B-G, nuts haven't been changed.
2. Go on, give in to temptation; it really is lovely...
Lots of tasty Yamaha bass guitars on the board right now. I really fancy trying the NE out but I am supposed to be selling not buying
3. Sadly one of these has to go - as soon as one sells the other is off the market! Am looking for sales only as I need both cash and space... Yamaha BB-NE Nathan East signature in Amber Burst with the most highly figured flame maple top I've ever seen. These are superb basses in every single way, made in Japan to a very high standard in fairly low numbers. Alder body, thick maple top with carving for cutaways and a special carving on the top to aid slapping/popping, 3 band NE signature parametric preamp (very flexible with bass, treble and mid cut/boost/flat control and trim pots in the control compartment at the back so you can change the parameters), very classy countersunk bridge, ebony fretboard, very comfortable string spacing and very cool jack socket cut out on the rear. In excellent condition, couple of minor marks on the back but very hard to notice. Will let this go for what I paid for it which is [s]£750[/s] £699 including hard case. They were £1600+ new. Yamaha BBN5A in Translucent blue (actually blue/green); not to be confused with the much cheaper BBN5 or BBG5A, the BBN5A was a limited run less fancy version of the Nathan East signature and was also made in Japan. The only differences are as follows: less fancy maple top (but still a figured maple cap, not a photogravure effect like the BBG5A), rosewood fretboard instead of ebony, no slap/pop carving on the front and slightly different block inlays. Everything else is as the Nathan East signature above, including the excellent preamp. These were £800 ish new. This is in slightly less good condition but nothing serious; there are wear marks on the back of the neck and some minor scrapes on the top side - please see photos for details. Am looking for [s]£375[/s] £325 for this, including hard case. Can ship using UPS (buyer obviously pays) or can meet anywhere along the M3 or A34, or anywhere within a reasonable distance of Salsibury - you are of course welcome to pick it up. I have high res pics which I can email on request. 4.
Did you get this from Classic & Cool guitars? I sold one back to them which was identical. Anyways - lovely bullet proof basses - believe these were the forerunner to the Custom shop - very, very high quality. I would love another, but can't get on with the pancake 80s necks. Fwiw all my gigging basses have these preamps...
Hi yes I did, drove all the way down to Devon to pick it up... They really are extremely high quality, and this one is near mint so if it was yours you certainly took care of it! Cheers
5.
a '87 stingray swap?
Hi, thanks for the offer - not really into Stingrays though. Cheers
6. Sorry for the delay, I got sidetracked by work... The bass weighs a very respectable 4.5 kg - and is still available
7. Hi sorry for the delay, busy weekend! I'm not really up for trades unless a particularly gorgeous 5 stringer were on offer - really need the money for a house move. I will weigh it later on and post the details... Cheers
8. 1990 (one of the first) Fender Jazz Bass Plus with the original Kubicki preamp and OHSC. Bass is finished in Charcoal Frost Metallic and is a 4 string fretted example. Case is a bit beaten up (feet missing, catches not great etc) but does the job. Bass itself is in great condition, only things worth mentioning are where the lacquer has worn away near the front pickup from excessive thumb placement and a lacquer crack on the neck - see pics for both of these. These are NOT structural in any way, purely cosmetic. Sound is fantastic, very versatile bass - the Kubicki preamp is brilliant, don't know why Fender only used it on this model. Neck is one of the best I've played and is definitely the thinnest nut wise, even thinner than the traditional Jazz neck which means it's very easy to play. Looking for £450 which is what it cost me here on Basschat about a year ago (from harlowbassplayer). Only selling due to upcoming housemove :-( Collection preferred from Salisbury but am regularly up and down the M3 and A34 so could easily meet up along these roads - will post if not, but will insist on insurance. Feel free to ask any questions.
9. Due to eBay timewasters, this is now up for sale here...for the princely sum of £975 Fender Precision Gold Elite I 1983 Absolutely beautiful, and near mint condition - comes complete with the seldom seen, very rare original deluxe case. Fender only provided these with the very first few Elites as they cost so much to produce. The case is called the Voyagair case and were made by SKB on behalf of Fender. It only came with the Gold and Walnut Elites, and even then only the first few because of the cost of producing them. They were never supplied with the "standard" chrome hardware Elites, just the Gold models. Only minor marks are one tiny dint (very difficult to photograph but you can see it in one of the final pictures) and very minor swirl marks on the back. Some minor tarnishing on the gold fine tuners but at least they're all there! Case is a bit dusty in the pics but will be cleaned...Otherwise absolutely spotless and very rare in this condition - especially in Gold Elite form. The single pickup Elite I is by far the rarer model and the Gold version is even rarer - topped only by the Walnut Elite in terms of rarity and with the original deluxe case this is a very special instrument. Active electronics in perfect working order, great sound, very flexible but still has that Precision thump. Collection or meet up much preferred with cash payment; otherwise Paypal. I am in Salisbury but am regularly up and down the M3 and A34. If shipping is required, I will only do this fully insured.
10. FYI, it's me reselling it as I need the cash to move house. I got this in a trade for a 5 string status which all things considered, in a better market, was worth more than I let it go for, plus as everyone's pointed out the BB3000 was clearly worth more than £300 - and didn't actually go for that amount so the inflation comments are a bit irrelevant. The (partially inflated) price is to cover eBay costs plus the inevitable negotiation that always happens with best offers. If I listed it for £500 I'd only get offers around the £350 mark. Happy to sell it for less than £695 to bass chatters though...very sad to see it go and if I didn't need to move house then it would be staying put, along with the other 5 guitars I'm having to sell :-(
