The original Energy basses had sharp bevelled edges, the later versions (from about 93 onwards IIRC) adopted the rounded body style. The Energy Artist versions had figured tops - walnut or maple were the options I believe. Hope this helps - Status basses are universally fantastic, even the maple necked ones. I believe the BB5000A had different Alnico pickups, or at least the ones I've seen did, plus a slightly different bridge. I'm a bit of a sucker for "all original" basses too... I also used to have a fretless BB400S although I defretted it myself; was my first fretless bass and I absolutely loved it, great in every way. I've always though that Yamahas are massively underrated, especially the 80s ones. My current BB1200 is a serious tone monster.

That is one lovely bass, shame it's not a BB5000A or I'd have bitten your arm off - I've been looking for one of those since about 1989! Good luck with the sale though

Really great sound, Equis preamp with XLR and 1/4 inch jacks - very minor surface scratches on the back that will T-cut out. Comes with spare plastic bridge insert too. Looking for £180 pick up from Salisbury, happy to meet within a 60 mile radius or so. At a push I may post which will be £25 or so. No case I'm afraid, but if I have to post then it will be very well packaged. Alternatively I am interested in trades so let me know what you have - I'll even consider 6 string Fenders or Yamahas. If you've got an 1980s USA Fender, or a 1990s Jazz or Precision Plus then I would be interested in part exchanging with me paying the extra cash obviously.
