Reduced to £280 These are superb basses from the Squier 40th anniversary, vintage series and are well known on Basschat Very nicely finished, and sounds great, delivering a real throaty jazz growl. This one is in excellent condition. According to my suitcase scales, this weighs 10lbs. A substantial bass but not a boat anchor. Selling to fund a new purchase and not interested in any trades, thanks. Please note this sale is for the bass only - no case or gig bag is included. Happy to post anywhere in the UK with the buyer covering the cost of postage. Alternatively, collection in person (about 30 miles from Newry/20 miles from Belfast).

Now reduced to £575 Selling my Reverend Mercalli 4 in metallic copper fire which I bought from Andertons a few years ago. This is a fantastic bass which, is well put together, with quality hardware (see specs below) and delivers massive tone. Custom pickups designed by Reverend – split brick in the neck position and a thick brick in the bridge. The blend knob is intuitive and allows you to find your tone really easily. Roasted maple, satin neck with some nice flaming; 12 inch radius which is really nice to play. The bass is in very good condition with a few little marks/dings, some swirling on the scratch plate, and some genuine buckle rash for that extra mojo! Selling to fund a new purchase. Not interested in any trades, thanks. Please note this sale is for the bass only - no case or gig bag is included. Happy to post anywhere in the UK with the buyer covering the cost of postage. Alternatively, collection in person (about 30 miles from Newry/20 miles from Belfast). The details from the Reverend website: Body - Korina Solidbody Pickups - Thick Brick Bridge, Split Brick Neck BridgeString-thru-body or Top-load, 3/4 spacing Neck - 5-Piece Maple/Walnut, Satin Amber Finish Scale - 34 Neck Profile - Medium Oval Fingerboard - Roasted Maple, 12" Radius Frets - 21 - 0.110&;W x 0.050"H Truss Rod - Dual Action, Headstock Access Tuners - Hipshot Ultralight, 1/2" Dia. Thanks Bassmidget. I have a Mercalli but have always wanted to try a TG. I like the new colours and you know how it is when you get a guitar fixation. Have tried to sell my Mercalli on here but used market seems tough atm and had little interest. What did you think of the new TG colours having seen them in person?

Has anyone been able to compare a TG to a Mercalli? Same pickups but different construction..Just wondering if there's a significant difference.

I asked virtually the same question for the same bass a few weeks ago. I resisted the urge to buy and just put new strings on and tweaked my amp and IEM EQ and that did the trick. If I was using cabs on stage though, that might be a different story. I was leaning towards the DM P or GZR. Good luck with your search and let us know your experience if you do change them.

Cool looking bass. Enjoy!

Fender Made in Japan 2024 Collection Hybrid II Jazz Bass PJ

I think in an older Andertons' video where they demoed the V1 Hyrids, they said it referred to vintage looks with modern features (sustain block under the bridge but not sure what else from memory). Still interested to hear a good quality recording of the new Jazz PJ. -
Thanks for the heads up, miles'tone. Hadn't heard of Toneriders before. It's back to the drawing board!

Thank you, that's v helpful.

Thanks Stub. I'll have to consider my research...you may have saved me a few quid!

The other pickup I have in my basket is a Fender Pure Vintage 63. Sounds good too.

Might be a good fit for me in a classic rock covers band I've joined.

Thanks ezbass. Can you remember what type of Hipshots they were and if they were a simple replacement.

Has anyone done any upgrades to their 40th anniversary vintage P? I really like this bass - the looks, the weight, the neck, the fun in playing it generally, but I have two issues. First of all, while the tone is good the pickups lack a bit of oomph. Having watched lots of comparison videos of P pickups, I was thinking of replacing them with SD quarter pounders but do I need a new wiring harness? The pots it came with are OK but there's not much range on the volume or tone. The knobs are also a bit scratchy. I believe I would have to widen the holes in the scratchplate if I replaced those as I think Squier pots are slightly thinner than standard size. Secondly, the tuners are really stiff and don't turn smoothly. I like the Gotoh GB 640s or FB30 lollipop tuners, but I haven't a clue if they would be an easy replacement and will fit, with the possibility of just drilling a couple of new holes. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but has anyone tried one of these out yet? I've seen a couple of videos on YT from Japanese websites demoing them, where they seem to have been available from a couple of months ago. Not sure if I really like the PJ on the offset Jazz body but remaining open minded. I'm in the market for a new bass and have been considering a few models, either one of these, an American Performer precision or a MIJ jazz International series. In no hurry to buy but just interested in anyone's experiences/opinions.

Performer series discounted as well on Fender's site but not quite discounted enough for me to bite.
