1. i played a 67 p bass at wunjo's but it went pretty fast. This bass was so good i hope they made many of them.... Or they put all their efforts into makin a small number sound and feel the best they could, consistently. I would be happy with either of them being true.
2. bump, needs to go to pay rent!!!!!
3. cheers guys its great to have that all cleared up as i wasnt totally sure, hope im not the only person (yn) thanks again, ollie
4. Does anyone know the laws on being a self employed freelance player? Do you have to set yourself up as a business and register all incomes and out goings with some tax people? Or is it as simple as you can do a session or gig and pick up the cheque and keep it to yourself? Any help on clearing this up for me would be much welcomed, ollie
5. i dont know if anyones mentioned this already do im sorry if they have but i think it really depends on the bass....... For me; 5 string-maple, musicman stingray- maple, fender jazz and p basses - rosewood .... Dont know why but thats just the way it has to be
6. By the sounds of it Orchestra and big bands are the way forward to complete you as a musician but in particular sight reading. If you look at most of the great players they have all been involved in these in some way or form. Hopefully next year i will have the confidence to give NYJO a bash
7. i think custom shop should be in there. Brazilian rosewood fretboard, dokata red, best jazz i ever played and for a '63 replica, cheeper than the real thing. Otherwise 75 reissue gets my vote
8. Bad points- It doesnt seem to be like many 70's jazzes iv played on. Its light and has a chunky neck and not silly low action. Its not much of a replica IMO Good points- I prefer this one for the reasons in the bad points! its a fantastic bass and the one in stock at andertons is a great example. Tone and style is also top notch
9. just to add, if you were going to change the pickups i would deifinately buy the squier CV p bass. Better to play and the build qualities excellent. Then put Lady Fralin pickups on. Their so so so underated!
10. 50's p basses have the thickest necks i can think of, and i cant play them very easily with my small girl like hands. Not a bad bass but the pickups are naff. Also action is very high on all the ones iv played, including roadworn. But they replicate the origionals nicely
11. Hi, iv recently bought a Warwick fretless NT bass and theres loads of buzz. Iv tried raising the action which helped a bit but didnt cure it. Will i need to adjust the nut and action? or is it something to do with it being fretless? cheers
12. f bass: played on paul turners when it was at the gallery..... just wow! the tones, woods, feel and asthetics all fantastic! i really want one of the bn5 models. Dream bass for me no higher praise than tht!
13. oliviasvintageguitars.com My favourite, just know it so i can dream of one day having such basses
14. hi do you know how much these roughly retail for? I have a Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass V in a stunning transparent red that i want to trade for a warwick 5 string fretless. But i think there might be too much difference in the prices for me to make up
15. i spent too long ignoring people who said i had a weird technique and that i needed to read music. 6 months at acm and im completely different, a whole new right technique and the left is now solid (for such small hands)! And i think im at quite a good level of reading. So yh bass lessons. Worth having with anyone who's good enough to teach!
16.
They played a while ago in Lithuania.. Then, juding from their Myspace, I wasn't very tempted to see 'em, somehow, eh..
well its all down to taste of music, but if you like funk and a band with lots of energy i think you missed out
17. were superb tonight! it was my first time seeing them and i really enjoyed. I would go as far to say as its the best thing since the Saturdays were in FHM Well done Stefan and the rest of the band for putting on a great show. If you havnt checked them out yet i really think you should go on their website and find a date to see them asap
18. mex p bass if its a good one....... if the pickups arnt great i cudnt recommend lindy fralin pick ups enough! changed my p bass in so many good ways. Also flats on a p bass i recommend elites, better made and cheeper than rotosound and after a while have a relly great tone!
19. james jamerson and bob babbit....... also BENARD EDWARDS!! havn't seen that name yet
20. If you want good quality and clarity my lightweight hartke hydrives for sale
