  1. I think you need to spend serious time in a shop trying different basses. It’s the only way to learn what works for you at the stage you’re at. It’s a shame Denmark Street isn’t what it was.
  2. Not read all the responses but I used to go to jam nights while at college. The only skill you need is the ability to socialise and network. You’ll quickly understand the repertoire and will be called up more often.
  3. your username suggests there are 50 more. Does your wife view basschat? 🤔
  4. I’m going to assume you haven’t seen his regular designs? Plus he was a bass player first, bass maker second. it’d be interesting to see how easy it is to play and how it sounds. It’s definitely of an era.
  5. By keeping the headstock warm, the bass maintains perfect tuning Either that or you may want to disguise you play Fender
  6. It sounds pretty good. If they offered it in 3 TSB and Tort p/g, it’d sell well.
  7. That’s sold now but they have Stanley Clarke’s Flying V!
  8. If they had I would certainly be GAS free
  9. He asked for critique though? 🤷‍♂️
  10. I think this is the right idea. I don't think you would have played that way when you have the energy of live musicians and can feel the bass drum and snare as much as hear them. If it was me, I'd tighten up by learning the groove with a metronome and then once I had that down learn the arrangement, using fills to articulate certain moments. IMO the fills you used didn't add to the song or performance but that's often a preference thing.
  11. Alternatively, there should be a daily bulletin with Basschat’s drama of the day
  12. Better off with an Overwater
  13. Again OBBM has gone out of his way in the past. Overwater are also one of the best teams in the business.
  14. Really cool to hear he’s a nice chap. His lines are up there with Jamerson, Rocco, Jaco and flea, in terms of influence on my bass journey. Not sure how well I could have kept my cool.
  15. They have it on the v10 deluxe instead https://sire-usa.com/products/sire-marcus-miller-v10-dx?variant=42380553486474
  16. Unlike Mr Presley I recommend plugging it into an amp before strolling through a busy bar/ club
  17. Yep, definitely not a revolution but minor upgrades
  18. Bass bros has a looker of a late 70s jazz. https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1976-fender-jazz-bass-2/
  19. Rather than two imitations, if I had that sort of money I’d be on the phone to Mr Baxter for the real deal.
  20. Not sure this makes any sense, but with pickguard looks like a bass guitar and without a pickguard looks like an electric bass.
  21. Wasn’t bad at all. Not many bids were placed so don’t think there were too many aware of it or it was a case of bad timing.
  22. Just missed out on a 93 Bt5 on eBay. Hopefully it went to a basschatter
  23. Same one is slightly cheaper on reverb but the guy thinks it’s made in US. Might be able to use old classifieds on here to convince them the price is wrong.
  24. It’ll do for the dog and trumpet
