1. I wouldnt buy a fender as the ones i have experienced dont have the best attention to detail in the quality. On mine there was a gap in the neck joint, the input socket would never stay on and on my housemates his saddles occasionaly collapse. These were both american deluxe models which are supposed to be top of the range so u would expect decent quality control. I would suggest a ray 5 or a warwick Shuker's should be amazing too
 2.
I actually quite fancy trying one, having found myself smitten with my HyDrive big rig!
I loved the 410 alot but it was far too big for what iv been doing so i compact cab is perfect. I think im going to have to just trust hartke with making a very good cab but if you manage to try it before its released, please let me know of your thoughts on it ollie
 3.
yeah for sure its natural to emulate your fav bassists...but i think its much more important to do your own thing...ive learnt loads of stuff and ideas from various bassists, songs etc....alot of stuff ive learnt also comes from listening to singers, horn players etc.. i have favorite bass players, but i dont want to sound like anyone but me...
I think theres been so much that has already done it would be near impossible to not sound a little bit like someone else. Even if its a musician you've never heard of or listened to they may have got similar ideas or had similar influences to you. So im sure you might say you have an individual sound but someone listening to you might think you sound like someone they know. But if you have managed to get your own sound and musicianship across after 50 years of electric bass, then im sure you can make lots of money.
 4.
There has. Ive noticed it. Some basses, the American Standards, are nearly in the £1K area. PS Clarky, good choice. Dont sell! If I could actually play fretless, which Im not sure about until Ive had much more time on one, Id love your fretless. Im shocked at how it hasnt gone considering the condition. Sign of the financial times me thinks
Mexican standard is near £500 too, i remember when that was the price for a brand new highway one, cant be more than 3 years ago
 5. James Jamerson, lot of old rubbish. Sounds like a muffled sheep trying to escape from a cage made of cotton and twigs they call an ampeg
 6. the values of fenders new and old have gone up because of the new increase in the cost of importing new fenders. Something to do with gibson saying that they wont sell their guitars in orders less than £20k so not as many shops decided to be a supplier and so more shops were ordering fenders who put their prices up to cream more out of the high demand. This is what iv been told by my dad so may not be 100% true but there has definately been a rise in fender prices.
 7. Yes and no, i like the idea of less known luthiers, but iv hated epiphone and gibson ever since i had a thunderbird and decided their guitars with 4 strings.
 8. Rite then, some of these are a tad over priced but it gives you an idea http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/6561 http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=63 http://www.nicksguitars.com/basses.htm http://thebassgallery.com/product_details....e=Bass%20Guitar I would be expecting something around £1900-£2000
 9. hmm seems very overpriced too me, if you just tell me where this guy lives il have a word with him and buy it off him saving you the pain of paying well over the odds
 10.
I love mine, but i find it's not a 'jack of all trades' bass tone-wise, It just sounds like an Alembic at the end of the day,The tone filter takes some getting used to, to begin with but the Bass & Treble cut/boost switches make for a nice tone, It's not that heavy either. As already stated, with the $ price being so strong against the £, I sometimes have to consider where to take mine at certain gigs. It is now my main 'Function' bass as i get some looks at pub gigs!
If Carlsberg did rigs............
 11.
Sorry, I think I misunderstood- your post reads as if you're saying the Alembic is half the price of the Sei, rather than the other way round.
ohrite yh my fault, sei flamboyant is cheeper and you could get it made to your own spec as well
 12. http://www.basscentre.com/bass-collection/...ng-crimson.html is that it?
 13.
But is it the 'real deal'? I don't want to put it onto a cheap body that i've refinished myself if it's worth a couple of hundred quid or something. The bass is going to be the one i carry around to rehearsals so it'll get knocked and scuffed around don't want to do that if it's an antique neck!
Wouldnt the fender necks have a date stamped on the underside of the neck?
 14.
Just checked, as above.
cheers
 15.
Sam and Dave- original- starts in G and goes up to Ab Blues Brothers is in E and goes up to F after a genius modulation. I will check now of course. Duck Dunn- the man.
Ahh probably a spotify mix up as their showing the sam and dave original to be the blues brothers version. At least my ears arn't too bad then
 16. Does it go up a semi tone at the end? the key seems to be in E but does it then shift to F? Maybe its just my ears, iv already found out from this forum that my eyes are knackered
 17. turns out its november now :@
 18.
You're joking right? Sei's aren't exactly cheap but the base price for an Alembic Rogue is $7500.
On the sei website a basic new flamboyant 5 is £2100, compared to £6000 thats a huge saving
 19. bass gallery have loads on their site so ring them up and see what they have in stock to try out. I play a thumb fretless and its incredible. But i havnt yet found a fretted warwick i like the sound of, havnt tried a stage 2 yet though.
 20.
QUOTE>>Amazing show, they almost outclassed Stevie IMO......
I think for me there was a much bigger sound from stevies band, which is obviously because he had more members. Also stevies songs are far more summery than jamiroquais so it just suited the mood better. Although having said this the quality of the sound of Jamiroquai was unbelievable for a live show.
 21.
Snap!! I was there too........ahem... right at the front... Amazing show, they almost outclassed Stevie IMO. Can't wait for the new album
yhp me too, cant help but feel it might not happen though. The gig was amazing although stevie wonder blew everyone away, his band were rediculous.
 22. Some say that his breath smells of magnesium, and that he’s scared of bells… Some say that his heart ticks like a watch, and that he’s confused by stairs… Some say that he has no understanding of clouds, and that his ear wax tastes like Turkish delight… Some say he has a digital face, and that if he felt like it, he could fire Alan Sugar… Some say he invented Branston Pickle, and that if you insult his mother, he will head-butt you in the chest… Some say that his first name really is “The,” and that if he went on Celebrity Love Island, they’d all be pregnant including the camera men… Some say his droppings have been found as far north as York. And that he has a full size tattoo of his face, on his face.... All we know is..... Well what do we know?
 23. ps. Not trying to be annoying, just my thumb hurts from practising
 24.
deers no respeck fur a gitar yu gain wivvowt cost. I not been rood juss fillisofical. zlapp! bless XX
Theres a great clip on youtube of guy pratt talking about his stack knob jazz bass, which was given to him as a present, so at no cost to him and im sure he very much respects it as he said he lusted after it. I respect any bass unless its a) an epiphone thunderbird or b ) it has a john east j retro pre amp
 25. isnt that the same shape as a sei flamboyant? probably half the price too
