  1. Jesus. Who were the judges? He landed some licks but in general it was pretty sloppy. Meanwhile young bassists who can play (and unknown to most of us) are busy with real world gigs.
  2. I’ve watched a few videos when he has collaborated on SBL and he is nowhere near the calibre of Ian, Scott or their usual guest list. At least he can play but doesn’t put out anything I find interesting.
  3. Shite player that talks bollocks because he has nothing else to offer. But he understands YT, is accessible to many and has built a following to become flavour of the month. There’s far better content to spend your time watching.
  4. Do they sound much different? I’d expect a bit more warmth from the wood neck. Totally agree they look right though now, especially with the clear/ no PG.
  5. I joined in 2010 and it was already a thing then.
  6. That would be sacrilege, but then Rob T owns Jaco’s bass of doom and has played it at Metallica shows.
  7. Still in and an unexpected redundancy has made my completion even easier!
  8. Or link: https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/musical-instruments/bass-guitars/james-brown-bootsy-collins-1969-fender-jazz-bass-natural-electric-bass-guitar-serial-266610/a/7407-85221.s?ctrack=4455887&type=featured-3-ent-hlite-7407-Guitar-tem112525#
  9. I was with you until your Wetherspoons example. That foods not worthy of seagulls.
  10. Did you not see the infested P bass?
  11. Still not in the website, did it get snapped up?
  12. Could be anyone on the end of an account. If they set one up to wind people up they’re unlikely to be honest about who they are.
  13. Could you be a kid or maybe Leo Fender is bored in the afterlife
  14. All that’s left are to throw in some personal insults and get the thread locked!
  15. As apposed to what, debating over the merits of the value of a bass none of us are going to buy? 😂
  16. I once had one of these. The best colour combination MM ever did IMO
  17. Breaking it down with the example of playing in F. The VI chord is Dm (DFA) The I chord being F (FAC) By playing the I triad over the VI you’d turn it into a Dm7 chord. The II chord is Gm (GBbD) The IV chord is Bb (BbDF) By playing the IV triad over II you’d turn it into a Gm7 chord. Therefore this shouldn’t cause an issue as it’s common to incorporate the 7th in a blues and both the original chords are minor.
  18. Oh how I wish I could have your situation! I’ve normally sold when I need the money and there’s nothing else left. Just thinking back to some of the really cool basses I’ve had and lost!
  19. Wish I could remember what it looked like! Hopefully it’s a great bass.
  20. God dammit! 😂 @rwillett it seems auto correct would agree
  21. That’s fine, just thought it was worth putting the idea forward because you said it wasn’t the best sounding. I don’t think anyone could argue with that. As a Sire owner, I can attest that any bass will only sound or play marginally better (better is obviously completely objective). But it depends how much you are willing to spend to reach nirvana. Bonus of the vintage basses are that, for the moment, they’re also a steady investment.
  22. Because you could is a great excuse and one I hope to use one day. If the sound isn’t there, maybe it could benefit from a pickup rewind?
  23. Luckily there’s lots of music for us to enjoy whether we prefer genre A, B, C ect. Those that you listed are big inspirations of mine because I particularly enjoy the bass playing to those old R&B/ disco tunes. But once you learn more of Jaco’s repertoire, you understand he could do that as well as anybody and still write and arrange on a bass in a way that was unique.
  24. 100% agree. But Jamerson was most prominent or at his peak in the 60s, whereas the this thread is regarding the 70s. As you alluded to, Jamerson’s playing reached a large audience as he was a recording musician for a label (a hired gun). Whereas Jaco was both a songwriter and a significant member in the not so popular jazz fusion genre.
