  1. Do you own standing in the shadows of Motown? If not buy that book and a precision with flats and it will all make sense.
  2. Squiers and Sires are both inconsistent with weights. If it’s a potential issue, I’d suggest visiting shops with them in store. I believe they have the same scale length and string spacing which are another two key factors in 5 string comfort.
  3. Sire is a very good starting point. Particularly second hand will retain its value well too should you not get on with it. I preferred the passive version but that’s my preference in all basses.
  4. Out of interest what’s the measurement difference?
  5. I don’t think you’ve spent enough time with one if that’s your opinion. Technique makes up for the lack of electronic sophistication.
  6. Have you got double vision?
  7. I’m guessing on the site he searched both magistrates and crown court listings for the name and it appeared on crown court. We knew he had the hearing. This suggests the judge decided the convictions would be better served at crown court than magistrate level.
  8. A chambered fender bass before sadowsky or anyone did it 😂 https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1976-fender-precision-bass-4/
  9. I hate it when the ads describe what a jazz bass is. If you’re paying for a vintage one, you know the difference between a jazz and a p bass! Personally I’d only buy if they have photos that prove they’re the original pickups.
  10. Just seen the case and candy second time looking. Case is the same as the 2000 fender Dlx jazz I had, and not sure why anyone would go to the lengths of obtaining the tools, catalogues and tags for a £700 sale.
  11. From Andy Baxter’s site: Z0 + 5 or 6 digits 2000 - 2001
  12. If you know of one of the original CV P basses for sale I’d go for that first. The difference will be in the feel and finish but I’ve not seen any bad feedback on those elements of the CV.
  13. If you’re practicing to improve it’s not always going to be fun. If it’s a tricky passage then playing it slowly and repeating while speeding up can be tedious. Learning theory and practicing scales up and down the neck isn’t always musical. Sight reading practice can be fun if you get a good tune but to be effective it should be something you wouldn’t listen to or from an exercise book. The point being, practice inherently won’t always be fun if you’re doing it right, but when you get it all together and your performances improve, it is worthwhile.
  14. It got a bit nasty last time they were on here so can see why the OP is so hesitant to name.
  15. These days you can probably put the pics in AI and it will be able to scour the internet and find potential matches
  16. If the OP still wanted the bass and works completed, p*ssing off the “luthier” by making it public wouldn’t be a great start to working things out amicably.
  17. Left hand of a piano is basically bass anyway 😉
  18. Bin off Tenerife and buy a new bass to practice on with the money saved!
  19. Or bills turn up that can’t otherwise be paid and the need is instant. Legal bills as one example that’s hit me hard in the past!
  20. Love the finish
  21. IIRC there was a pawn shop with two foderas a few years ago. Wonder if this is one of those?
  22. I might be wrong but I thought Will at Bassbris had previously worked for bass direct. It’s a convenient mid-point in the country, I’ve stopped by on the way to elsewhere before.
  23. Mostly because it’s involve a trip to Leicester! These victims have suffered enough already…
  24. It’s well known to my browser history too 😅
