  1. It wasn’t an opinion and if we had to back up every statement on here with evidence then it’d take an age to say anything. Overwater make a bass in full which is why when I wanted a fretless jazz I went to them instead of Fender because I could guarantee the quality.
  2. You surely don’t need evidence for Fender making parts and mixing them together. It was a production line for mass produced parts, certainly in the CBS era.
  3. Yeh I agree but there are also members on here who buy to flip at a higher price or will buy to try and sell on quickly if it’s not for them. I’ve experienced both!
  4. By the number of basses listed and subsequently sold, it does seem at the moment many private sellers are preferring to sell through or to bassbros, even compared to here or eBay.
  5. That’s the one. It’s probably the worst I’ve come across although I thought it might have been due to the seller taking the neck off. I would have thought it’d have some alignment issues being that far over. If it was slacked off and moved central, would it not have a gap the other side too?
  6. Check out the neck pocket on this ‘75! Shame because otherwise not a bad looking bass. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326291802661?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=V2WlLxkkTWa&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  7. Funnily enough this is how I learn music. I’d love to retain the memory but cannot these days like I used to.
  8. The comparison was that modern amps/ speakers are probably better yet older gear is still collectible. Because a lot of parts are required to be replaced (tubes/ speakers) I can only guess it is for image qualities. If anyone has a B15 and wants to enlighten me, I’ll likely have to fly from my current area.
  9. He reminds me most of victor wooten. They both groove like they have all the time in the world. I’d love to get to such a level of effortlessness!
  10. I’ve not tried one but guess it’s like the Ampeg B15. Are they that functional? They complete the image though anlong side an old Fender bass and as a wannabee collector of sorts, that’s enough for me to want one.
  11. I wouldn’t go for a P bass 76 plus because they changed the neck shape and those I’ve tried have been very heavy. The jazz bass 76-78 is also heavy but has the classic MM sound. I do prefer the look of the tort to black.
  12. True, and just like the Blu de tiger debate he clearly has only got attention by being a good looking young girl…. I haven’t, thank you for this. My go to is the NPR tiny desk concerts, a fantastic source of new music and even some terrific performances by pop stars that are too often discredited for their genre.
  13. Snarky puppy’s notoriety came from YouTube, and as well as being one of my favourite bands, they’ve won Grammys. So the platform isn’t the issue, it’s how the creator users it.
  14. It’s a surprise to me the P bass prices have caught up as there was previously a discount compared to Jazz bass equivalents (more what I follow). There’s a 74 jazz at Andy Baxter for just £3.5k even if the case isn’t original. Of course condition is important to price and there have been some near minters come on the market this year.
  15. Is that a good price now for a P bass? I’ve not been following them very closely recently but feels a lot for a private seller to me. I definitely wouldn’t be risking that sort of money, especially if I couldn’t take it apart first.
  16. I’ve done a crude weigh on bathroom scales and I think it is roughly 4.5kg which is admittedly not that light for a 4 string bass, but is not too heavy for me either.
  17. I don’t think so, was just on a page for bass players. I think majority of Pre CBS tended to be “lightweight”
  18. Did someone say road worn? Spotted this on FB. ‘64 apparently
  19. I’ve not seen much mention of the godfather of electric bass but that’s session life for you
  20. I dunno, it looks all kind of wrong compared to what I’ve seen previously. pickups aside, this looks original to me: https://reverb.com/uk/item/71737142-classic-1983-fender-jazz-bass-3-bolt-with-ash-body-bound-maple-fretboard-sienna-burst-finish-made-in-the-usa-vintage-dimarzio-pu-s
  21. Are you only stopping pensioners on this street? 😁 Id say Paul McCartney is the one 50% would get. Other than that, no hope!
  22. And you know this how? It is sexist to suggest that a female has been successful because she is female and looks good as apposed to her skill.* Whether she looks good or not, is opinion. Do you think her audience is old men wishing they could sleep with her or people trying to learn something new and enjoy music? I hope and believe it is the latter. *obviously removing the women/ men who do literally sell themselves on looks.
